I love that Bioshock Infinates focus is going to be on extreme nationalism (Bioshock = extreme objectivism, Bioshock 2 = extreme altruism). I know this is a bit early to ask, but after this game what other philosophies would you take to their extreme? Regardless of whether or not you're buying it, think of philosophies that you would like to see taken to their most extreme tearing down an advanced city.

A game where you see a box and have to determine if a cat is in said box.

You never find out.

When "its" is possessive as in the title, it should not have an apostrophe. "Its" only has an apostrophe when used as a contraction of "it is"

/Really minor, but it bugs me.

Extreme feminism? Extreme socialism? Extreme communism?

So you're basically playing with Schrodingers Cat?

What about extreme nihilism? You just stand there debating if it's worth continuing.

but the cat has plasmids or something that might make it explode violently and the box is the size of a city in space.... and you're outside... and in space umm... no on can hear your cat explode?
... or something

An ultra religious kind of thing could be interesting. Plus, combined with the powers present in the BioShock universe, it could be pretty cool. Bright lights, massive Gothic structures. Could sort of mirror the whole war in Heaven/Fall story. Or just make up some batshit crazy religion that the people make based off drug hallucinations.

Idealism could be used in a cyberpunk world of sorts, they went into the Matrix, but shit's going down and people simply refuse to "eject." That is, if I understand idealism correctly. haha

that'd be a cool idea, actually have the uber city as an actual utopian society for the main character's own nihilism to play off of.
and you end up tearing it down because you just stop caring...

That's really embarassing I'm so sorry I should know better. It's fixed.
Edit: Socialism and communism are covered by extreme altruism.
Edit 2: Extreme feminism? That could actually be really terrifying if you played as a male character. Mind you this would have to be a society that used cloning to reproduce.

I'd like to see a fascist society based on misinterpretations of Nietzsche brought down by an actual Ubermensch.

I was joking but that could actually work.

What about extreme freedom? Everyone is allowed to do whatever they want whenever they want, it's gotta fall apart at some stage right? The main character could be extremely religious and disgusted by the sin desides to bring back god, old testiment style.

Allow me to present you with an idea similar to yours, extreme hedonism that would be a real ***** to get pass the censors, but it could make for an interesting game (and probably a very difficult game to design the villains).

In all honesty, religious fanaticism would probably be the place I would most like Bioshock to go next. Especially if we can get some 40k Imperium-style fanaticism going. I'm thinking something set in either a ginormous space station, or a moon base or something equally difficult to get away from, where the entire society is centered on worship of a person or symbol. Then we could have the game go down during or shortly after the inevitable revolution.

I would acutally love to see hedonism mixed with the cool 50's charm of the bioshock. Raping and pilliging to some breezy jazz could be a very nice backdrop for an escape story.

^What he said. I'd definitely be looking forward to playing something like that.

I would play both of these games. The first one would be extremely fun and make you question your own morals, while the second gives you the perspective of the bad-guy, from a non-questionable point of view. It would also be fun, and if enough freedom was granted, it could make you question how far you would go to destroying a civilization.

Every action you take just makes your character say to themselves "WHY?" And then you fight Germans who want to cut your penis off.
