So the countdown is done, and it's a mock auction. And it's only open to residents of the United States. Imagine that, a Canadian company not even allowing it's countrymen in on this event...

"Eligibility. This Contest is only open to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia with the exception of residents of Florida and New York, who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry and who had Internet access as of March 15, 2010. Employees of Electronic Arts Inc., and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies ("Sponsor and its agents") and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of each are not eligible. Contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply."

I'm pretty cheesed by this... anyone else?

I'm very angry at this, I wanted swag. They made me wait and frustrated me with crashes and I can't enter!?

What I don't understand is how they can call it an epic community event when it's restricted to the US.

It makes me m-m-maaaaaad

If they can't do an international contest they could at least have taken some of the prizes for a separate parallel contest.

I'm more annoyed at what it is rather than the fact I can't partake. I don't get why it needed a secretive countdown either or called it a "community even", especially considering they have excluded the entire world bar one country.

Yes but its run by the parent company EA...which is not canadian. Its american. Now get over it.
Fair point, but I cannot see why they'd hype this up with a mysterious countdown (a worldwide one as well) only to release it as a prize winning event that's exclusive to a single country.

They could have at the very least said it would be US only, if only to avoid pissing people off. Personally I wasn't interested in the event prior to finding out I couldn't participate, I was more annoyed that it was something so boring.

Yea I didn't care at all other than simple curiosity... but for all this free gear, and you don't have to do anything other than vote with your free tokens, it's a pretty cool event I wish I could partake in. I'm not super pissed off or anything but I am simply annoyed by this crap.

I should go egg their offices on my lunch break lol.

Uh, canada actually has some very strict laws concerning the legality of contests. Anything that can even closely resemble a "game of chance" is completely illegal there.

Not bioware's fault.
So,just because Canada has tough laws, every other country gets the short end of the stick?
European countries are eligible for contests too,why ignore a big part of your market?

Don't call yourself an international community if you leave out alot of it every time you do anything Bioware.

Meh, I wouldn't join the competition anyway.

If it's American exclusive, fine by me. I get to see Iron Man 2 before them anyway.

Not to mention Canada has lots of "games of chance". Lotto 649, Super MAX Lotto, Sports Select, all the charity draws. Just walking through the mall last week there's a draw for a Lamborghini Gallardo and I've seen Ferrari's in there too. Not to mention casinos... or beer company draws for big parties, or radio contests. I think someone was misinformed.
