So, Bioware looks to be setting themselves up to shoot themselves in the foot again. While purely rumor and conjecture at this point, a leak from an ex-Bioware employee sheds light on what could possibly be some of the worst and dumbest news to come out about Mass Effect yet.

To sum it all up:

Yes, Shepard is going to "live" through the ending of ME3. Except he/she isn't - Shepard is dead and instead the Catalyst is going to be in control of Shepard's body, and try to prevent the galaxy from developing more advanced Synthetics in the next ME game codenamed "Mass Shift".

Yes. It does originate from 4chan. Yes, it is highly speculative at this point.

But we said the same god damn things about the ME3 leaks, and look what we got.

If even 20% of this is true, than I think Bioware needs to go into hiding for a couple of decades. 'Till everyone is too old to care anymore and they can piss off a new fanbase.
I doubt it, 99% doubt it... its 4chan people.

Also ME3 Ending Spoiler
if you do it right you can make your shepard live at the end.
Need to get like 4900 points though

Too bad you need to play multiplayer to get enough galactic readiness so you can achieve such a high EMS.

Damn. A part of me hoped someone high up at Bioware really went batshit insane and okayed this. Sounds like a god-awful fan fiction.

Meh. I'm quite happy to just believe the Indoctrination Theory and leave it at that.

...I really doubt this is accurate information. I took a visit to 4Chan to see if they were as weird as people said. I immediately saw a thread that cannot be unseen.

"I need rule 34 of books in vaginas, STAT!"}

Yeah I really doubt this is real and is in fact just some troll. I really doubt Mass Shift is a thing too.
But many people working in the industry go on /v/ just to fuck around.
If you've seen the BF3 trailer you know that there is a dinosaur in it, thanks to 4chan and them saying to an Activision representitive that CoD MW2 needed more dinosaurs.

OT: I would say that the likely hood of this being real is 50/50 at the moment. Not that I care, ME 3 is a game that I have no intention of ever even coming close to playing.

I think I saw this link from Adam before.
God, I hope this is fake. PLEASE let it be fake. (And really? Mass Shift? Couldn't it be a better name at least?)
I think I might die a little if this ends up being real.

I remember laughing at the leaks about the ending before, only for it to turn out that the leaks were true...

That's not true at all. I only played a few matches of multiplayer before I beat the campaign, and I finished with excess of what I needed to get all the options at the end.

Here you go mates. Confirmation that it's false.

You know except the catalyst possessing your body thing, it sounded kind of interesting.

Huh... I don't know much about BioWare, (being 12 and all) but, yes, if it's a leak from 4Chan, it's a leak, nonetheless, but the Anonimity system might make these leaks a bit less reliable, what I'm surprised about is the fact that this trip(fag/friend) came up with this story, (assuming it's completely fake), I'm more interested in the origin, it's most likely from some ME3 Thread on /v/, (there are alot of those) or something from /vg/ (fuck /vg/), but, this seems pretty interesting, for the most part.

/v/ Is kind of known for having Early News.
2 rules of thumb
1) 4chan is WRONG 90% of the time.
2) You don't post your age when you are under the minimum age you can be for a site.

I would seriously...SERIOUSLY have to hope this is all just a bunch of BS. Seeing as how Bioware claims to be listening to its fans and caring about their feedback, they would be absolutely moronic to try and pull something like this.

Considering the fact that about 75% of the rage focused around the ending was due to the very existence of Little Space Timmy, the only reason they'd have him possessing Shepard's body to finish up the war would be just the BIGGEST middle-finger in the faces of all of Bioware's fans...and there very likely could be a sudden outbreak of arson at various Bioware buildings.

That said, maybe they will give us all a big "Fuck you!" Maybe they will pump out this crap and be like "Want a new ending, do ya? Here you go you fuckers, hope you choke on it." Pretty vindictive if you ask me, but hey, anything's possible. :p

That and you really can't trust anything that comes from the same website where you can find pics of a tentacle penetrating a certain orifice, traveling through the body, out the mouth, back down the body, and back into the same orifice it had previously entered.....

Just try not to envision that.

God I wish I was your age again. Sure there's the inconvenience of being horny all the time, but nothing beats being a kid. Cherish it. It all goes downhill once you turn 20.
Yeah, but it pisss me off getting underage bans for virtually no reason, and being a somewhat intelligent pre-teen no-one takes me seriously...

Nice username, Deus Ex was an ok game.
wait did you just say UNDERAGE BANS for no reason? I already quoted you once to say posting your age when you are under the age for the forums isn't a good idea. You do realize that breaking the forum rules results in a warning. So willingly disclosing your age (that being one that is UNDER the guidelines for this site to be a user. Can an most likely will be suspended and/or banned. So its not for no reason.

I have been here for 2 years now and haven't even had a warning as of yet.

Also. Unless you are telling people how old you are IN EVERY POST. No one knows how old you are so there is probably ANOTHER reason no one takes you seriously.

OT: Even if this was real I doubt that Mass Shift would be the name I mean Mass Effect was the name of the drive engines that were used for FTL travel so what the hell could Mass Shift be Do we now have cars that use Mass Effect Field generators and you Mass Shift the gears?

When the original Mass Effect 3 draft (worst thing ever made) and script (much better) were initially leaked, Bioware responded by making official threads about them and viciously locking threads left and right that discussed them, forcing players to go onto private groups if they wanted to discuss them.
They did all this within about a day. This 'leak' comes from 4chan and Bioware allows threads discussing it to reach the 75 page mark, doesn't mention it at all in any official capacity and just outright dismiss it openly and publicly as false.
Over the course of about two days.

Seriously guys, if this was an actual leak Bioware devs would probably be trying harder to keep it hush hush and not spoil anything, and locking down threads that bring it up like crazy. Instead they ignore it for a really long time apart from occassionally mocking it in twitter posts and finally stating that it is false.

I hear people say 'well Bioware have lied before' and while it is true that Bioware promised they would make changes to the story based on the leak but the game itself still played pretty much the same way... at least this meant they acknowledged that the leak was real. Saying 'its outdated' and 'we will change it due to fan input' is much more telling then just saying 'it is FALSE'. The former actually denotes legitimacy at least, the latter denies it utterly.

Seriously this isn't the first time Reddit or 4chan have released false information about Mass Effect 3 pretending to be the developers in order to stir up controversy. Remember that whole fake post where Stanley Woo was supposedly saying that Bioware had made Ashley a transexual?
The one riddled with spelling, grammar and punctuation errors that had absolutely no source?

I have difficulty believing that a random anonymous post on 4chan written by someone with a job description not listed in the game's credits, with no evidence other then itself that contradicts itself over and over again and is riddled with plot holes and continuity problems and would almost certainly make fans hate it even more then the actual ending is anything other then an elaborate troll post.

All I'm saying is, it's fair to take Chris's word on this. I must say it's impressive to be shown an alternative that actually makes the Mass Effect 3 ending look bearable by comparison.

Mass Shift kinda sounds like a racing game set in Mass Effect universe. Like Need of Speed: Shift. Imagine such a game. I wouldn't be surprised at all if EA wanted to make that game if they happen to see this post. That idea has as much potential as guide cat for blind people though.

Look, guys...even if the general concepts underlying this weren't absurd, and even if Bioware hadn't already categorically denied it, and even if the source of it wasn't the always trustworthy 4Chan...

There's no way they would release a new game set in the Mass Effect universe under the name "Mass Shift". That's not how branding works. They've invested a lot of years and a lot of money in that brand. It has market recognition. "Mass Shift" could be an entirely unrelated franchise. It would be like Square Enix releasing a new Final Fantasy game and calling it "Final Adventure", or a new Modern Warfare game being released as "Modern Attack". It makes absolutely zero sense, from a business perspective, and the guys in suits would never allow it.
