Apparently all those generic modern warfare screenshots were for an RTS that Bioware is now undertaking, Command & Conquer: Generals 2. Quite frankly, I don't really give a damn about RTS, Bioware or not. But hey, you never know.

my response to this is : FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE KILL ME!!!!

then on the other hand it wouldn't hurt to diversify...

but i would still have wanted Jade Empire 2 :*(

It's not THE BioWare.

"BioWare" here is just a brand name for Bioware Victory (former Victory Games) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare_Victory , completely different EA subdivision.
The guys who made ME, DA and other stuff are not affiliated with this game at all afaik. At least it is that way according to http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/12/11/biowares-new-game-is-cc-generals-2/

Ehm, I don't see the BioWare logo anywhere there. I see EA, Frostbite 2 and that's it. I'll need more convincing about the fact that BioWare is making it and not EA itself or some other studio of theirs.

That said, C&C Generals is probably the one RTS I actually enjoy so a sequel to it? Yeah, bring it on, let's see what it can do. Just gimme my ridiculously powerful planes again plx :>

Yeah, I loved Generals and Zero Hour as well. I might even say that I'd rank them as the 2nd best C&C title.

Always loved BioWare as well, and even if it is a different team, in a different house, in a different city, I can't wait to see what they'll do with an RTS game.

Plus, Frostbyte 2 is gonna make it look awesome :p

You hate RTS so much or do you simply hate it when devs like Bioware don't make the games they're accustomed to?

Anyway, this seems interesting. I don't mind Bioware diving into other Genre's, as long as they keep making RPG's as well, so I can't say I'm not interested. Lets see how it works out.

Maybe we'll get a C&C game with a proper good storyline, interesting characters, and RPG elements (like levelling up your generals).

I think Bioware (or even Obsidian) could make a really good RPG in the Tiberian Sun era of C&C, all the ingredients are there ... GDI, NOD, Mutants, Aliens etc.

It's a really weird decision to put this under BioWare, especially that most people were waiting for another RPG (and an original IP).

I suppose the announcement made some people happy, but I'm a fan of neither C&C nor the RTS genre, so I can't help being a bit disappointed.

My relief is palpable. Seriously, it's like a fine mist oozing from my skin, fogging up my glasses.

Bioware can take practically any setting or idea and make an game out of it, and I'll follow them - as long as it's an RPG. Their next big project being an RTS was seriously worrying me.

But this, this is fine. Generals was pretty good, it deserves a sequel by now.

could be a bit of both...

and like i said: diversification is not such a bad thing, as long as the game does not suck

Never played Generals, what was different about it compared to C&C vanilla and Red Alert?
More or Less it was kinda based off Real life with factions like the United States, China and The GLA or Global Liberation Army (The name for the Terror network)

I used to think Generals was sort of meh. Of course, in retrospect after C&C3, RA3 and C&C4 it was a brilliant masterpiece. So hey, Generals 2 might actually be the first good C&C game in years.

Wut the hell? That's random. Though I did LOVE Generals(probably because it was the only RTS that I could beat on normal when I was younger, but I'll never admit that! D8).
