Oh for the love of... "As usual, people on the BSN forums are livid to hear that someone other than the developers ate them."

No. Just no. There were a couple of people who claimed it was a publicity stunt, the overall response is most definitely positive.

What do you get out of misrepresenting people? That's the only pathetic thing here.

OT: Nice move Bioware :)

Aw, I kind of thought they were going to be good sports and accept the cupcakes.
They're cupcakes! I wouldn't refuse them!...unless they really were poisoned.

Bioware:
Give $1000 dollars to Canadian Bully Victim Charity and Re-gift the 400 Cupcakes to a poor children's shelter.

Praise from gaming media sites, full support in their actions.
No mention of them maybe doing it for the sake of PR and to further their goals.

Fans:
Give $80,000 to sick and dying children's charity.

Get told that they're all nasty entitled babies and the charity is cut off early by the same websites in question.
Get told that they're just hijacking the charity for their own goals.

Seems fair and unbias in my mind. Yup. No double standard here.

On the plus side, Charities and the poor and sick children are doing GREAT out of this.
Which is a nice thought if nothing else.

Glad to see the cupcakes went so a more needing recipient anyway. This all worked out pretty well in the end.
Yes because when Child's Play had to set a limit to the charity and shut it down because people were demanding refunds because they thought they were "buying a new ending" shows just how 'righteous' some of those gamers were when they were donating their money to the Charity
Alot of people donated.

The actions of a small handful doesn't reflect on the rest of them.

Wait wait... WAIT!!
So fans gave Bioware a pick between similar 3 choices... And they choose option 4!?
If Mass Effect 3 had a hidden 4th ending accessible through Paragon choices and certain outside the box thinking this would be the most awesome clue ever.

It only take the actions of a few to ruin a great cause. Just like if you look at police officers, an overwhelming amount of them are good people who follow their oath, but you have those few who abuse their power, and then everybody thinks that police officers are power abusers.

They declined them because they were cupcakes of criticism?

If they fix the ending I'll send them celebratory cupcakes.

Well no.

She is more saying that they wont celebrate complaints. In other words. They wont accept a reward for negative feedback.
That's a pretty good way of putting it, actually. Maybe you should take Priestly's job.

P.S Where is this anger of which the OP speaks?
There's generally a large number of forum posters on the Bioware site that are essentially calling this a "PR Stunt" and one member called it a "slap in the face"

Personally, I'm laughing my ass off at this. Its for a good cause and it kinda turns a silly little form of protest around into something worthwhile.

It's only a matter of time before they get bored, get in a renegade mood and take those cupcakes back.

If I were one of the devs and they decided on this I'd tell them to fuck themselves and take all of the cupcakes for myself. Cupcakes are awesome.

That's pretty funny, actually. And seriously, updating us on the state of the BSN is totally unnecessary. Angry is their baseline.
People on BSN weren't even angry so that's a false statement. They were happy that the cupcakes went to kids instead.

The irony of it is, that Bioware were given the option of 3 cupcakes...and then chose the 4th option. If only we could do that in the ending.
ah if only shepard had the oportunity to stand there faced with the choices and to say NO like bioware
You can actually just sit there after the dialogue with the Catalyst ends. Eventually, the Reapers destroy the Crucible.

I have to admit that my first response was: "Nice-one, BioWare!" They took the joke in good humour and made a few kids smile to boot. I think it's unfair to call it a protest - it was more for shits and giggles I'd say.

While I've been too busy with other matters to read through every single thread on the BSN, I have had a look through the relevant topics and seen very few people who were not happy with the arrangement. It's fair enough I suppose but concentrating on the few when the majority of people support BioWare's decision smacks of trying to create an unfair bias on the OP's part.

Whoever said it was a slap in the face needs one themselves! BioWare could have flat-out refused them or thrown them in the bin. But no, they decided to pass them onto someone who would genuinely appreciate a cupcake or two and that speaks volumes. It proves that at least some people at BioWare are human-beings after-all

Yeah-yeah I know it could have been suggested by the PR department to win back some brownie-points but I'm kind sick of the way everyone is assuming the worst about everyone at the moment (Yes, I am looking at YOU, mother!) so I am naively clinging to the hope it was done out of charity and not in the hope of saving face.

I never denied that most people approve of the actions. Even those who did call it a PR stunt seem to approve of Biowares actions and there are a few people wondering if Bioware even saw the cupcakes or just redirected them. And I got a feeling the guy who said that this was a slap in the face has, to quote Eric Cartmann, "Sand in his vagina."

And don't talk about your mother that way D:< You're grounded mister!

If Bioware is so willing to give away hundreds of cupcakes is making a ending that is actually satisfying really that hard?

Sorry, I should have been clearer about when I was "talking" to you and when I was addressing the topic in general.

HAH! I couldn't have put it better myself! Not only is it a perfect metaphor it is also wonderfully ironic!

She can't do that - I am a big boy now and so I have my own key and everything!

I apologize for yet another BioWare/Mass Effect post, but I thought it was an interesting update to the whole cupcake situation [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/116530-Gamers-Ship-400-Cupcakes-to-BioWare-in-Protest-of-Mass-Effect-3] that's been added to the Mass Effect madness.

True to their word, the "Retake" movement sent the 400 cupcakes to BioWare, as pictured below:

Upon receiving said cupcakes, BioWare thanked [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/10635792/88] the movement for the gift, but declined it. Instead, they gave the pastries to a local youth center, a group that probably has a better chance of putting them to use than a few dozen developers.

As usual, people on the BSN forums are livid to hear that someone other than the developers ate them, but I thought it was a clever response. Get trolled by the fans? Troll them back!

Thoughts?

Problem enraged fan base?

In all seriousness though, at least those 400 cupcakes are going to better use. Bioware, I tip my hat in your direction.

The difference being, of course, that BioWare didn't send the cupcakes along with a message saying "BUY MASS EFFECT 3 BECAUSE WE GAVE YOU CUPCAKES."

Think it's a good idea. It's not trolling. The fans wanted to make a point. They made it well. Bioware got the cupcakes, understood the point being made then gae it to kids who will use and appreciate the gift. Everyone wins..the fans made their point, kids got cake.
