For us Revanites who journeyed as the master of light and dark and who traveled along side as the Exile, I think i speak for us when I say that BioWare's (more specificaly The Old Republic's) Cannon and story for Revan is a massive betrayal of one of, and if not the, greatest character created in the Star Wars universe as shown in the video below.

Well, it was Drew Fucking Karpyshin who decided to completely ignore Knights of the Old Republic 2's idea that Revan turned to the Dark Side to prepare the galaxy for the True Sith invasion, and just turned him into the Emperor's tool so that they could make a new MOAST POWURFUL SITH EVAR!

Honestly, the fact that Revan was reduced to a raid sequence is bad enough, but the novel they wrote about him was even worse.

I get mixed opinions about that novel, half of people say its good because it explains a lot and the other half berate the hell out of it.

It doesn't explain anything.
-The Jedi Exile is transformed into a Revan Fangirl. Like the ones that go into threads to say how Revan was the most amazing Jedi ever. She is fucking obsessed with him. Nothing about her character reflects anything that happened in The Sith Lords. No mention of the Wound in the Force, or how she discovered the truth about herself. She's just another Jedi, who gets unceremoniously killed by being stabbed in the back. That is literally how she dies, she gets stabbed in the back, and becomes a force ghost.

-A third of the book doesn't even focus on Revan, but on some Sith nobody from the True Sith who has visions about how Revan will kill the Emperor. And he is boring.

-T3M4 gets blasted into bits with lightning for no reason than shock value.

-Canderous finds the Mask of Mandalore, which had already been explained in The Sith Lords.

Basically if you enjoyed KOTOR 2 for its utter departure from the usual Star Wars flavor and didn't roleplay the Exile like a complete twerp there was no way NOT to hate the book.

And thanks for the video, playing through SWTOR for the good story bits was too onerous for me.

You read the whole thing? I had to put away and put it out of my mind about two-thirds of the way through.

Bolded part:
I don't agree with that at all.

Honestly. Revan bored me to the point I didn't finish the original KOTOR series.

People actually give a shit about the expanded universe? Really? I mean, it can be interesting and all, but all it represents is Lucas milking a cow so dry its not even technically alive.

Every single time someone makes a TOR thread my Kotor 2 fanboy side screens in pain for the sole existency of that MMO.

I much prefer still live in the ilusion that the only Star Wars MMO was that Galaxies piece of shit... And Bioware didn't start to became EA little *****.

Sadly yes. I'd read Drew's earlier EU books, and I really liked them. Knights of the old Republic had good writing. The Darth Bane trilogy had good writing. But Revan? The novel was pure trash.

A beloved Star wars character gets screwed with and becomes considerably less awesome in the process?

It's not like any of us didn't see this coming. This is Star Wars we are talking about here, after all. :(

They pretty much shatter our view of Revan and our interpretion on what happen to him after the game. I wish they had kept him remain unkown (I was never keen on the idea of expanding his story more pior to TOR).

I never read the book, but I looked him up on Wookiepedia. UGH. So painful. I really feel bad for Obsidian. They crafted quite possibly the most interesting narrative Star Wars has ever seen, filled with moral ambiguity, shades of grey in the Force, and a complete deconstruction of the Star Wars universe, and it's shoved aside for being to different. The Revan described in KOTOR 2 was one of the most interesting characters in the EU. Was he a hero or villain? Was he truly trying to follow the light by sacrificing his soul and killing millions in order to save the universe, or was he only trying to justify his evil to himself? Everything in that game painted the events of the galaxy portrayed in KOTOR in a whole new light. And now it got shit on. REVAN WASN'T REALLY EVIL HE WAS MIND CONTROLLED WOOOOOOO. OH AND HES STILL ALIVE 300 YEARS LATER BECAUSE HE WAS IN STASIS. WOOOOOO. Seriously, fuck that shit.
