Okay, so,this is something of a personal topic. But, maybe you people can help me where the guidance department at my school has epically failed

I am an idea guy, i have folder with literally dozens of original ideas. I have movie screenplays, a 800 page novel, short stories, episodic ideas and anime plans, all of them written out and just begging to be dealt with. Now, i want to make a career out of writing books, as well as concepts and scripts for movies, television or games, or all of the above. However, I have no idea how to get started, how do i break into this market, who do i send these ideas to? Who do i contact to get noticed?
Any help would be appreciated?

*Note: I am fully aware that there is no guarantee that any of my ideas are any good. And, to those who would suggest the career department at school, i have already tried that and gotten Zero help, only a sales pitch as to why i should stay in the university*

* oh, and this is my first personal posting, so please don't go off on me

That depends on how old you are but without any actual contact in the business you just need to submit you're works to a publishing company and hope they'll even read it.

When I began writing, I took my stuff to the local librarian and got her to read it.

Try getting trusted people to read it. Like a parent or a friend.

Or, just send it into a publisher if you think your ready for that step. Go to their site for details.

Where do you live?

Hum. Who are you aiming at, book/anime/game/everything wise?
If your aiming at an avid tenage reader, then hit me with some of your ideas! Also, becoming a writer is, as i see it, VERY HARD. Don't think your gonna become the next JKR

Do you have any people who have connections in the field? Have you sent a chapter or two to a publisher? Have you tried attending any writing conventions or something of that manner?

And same here, dude. Working on a novel right now.

That's really damn impressive, I don't really have anything helpful to say but you must be a pretty smart guy to have all that if you're still in school (I'm guessing high school).

I don't know where to go or how it works, but contact a publisher?

My suggestion is, before you dive in, to get known on the internet. Help out in your college years with a few stories/internet series. Best case scenario is that you have something under your belt before you're done post-secondary. Publish your own stories around your city/school, pitch ideas to indie game deveopers and work with them, etc.

I know exactly what you mean, it is labor intensive and mind numbingly complex. And... well... you have jsut killed my dreams.... *sniff* but really, i know it would be nice to be the next JKR or JRT. As for aiming, everything is my target, just so long as i can get these freaking things out of my head.

I don't really have anything to add to the answers already here, but I just want to say that it's really cool that you have the ability and drive to write like that. I love to read and I've always envied the folks who write. Good luck to you getting published.
