How very, very awesome would it be for Lionhead to make a Black and White game for Kinect?

Having only recently thought of this possibility I am sorely disappointed that 1) It hasn't already been done/worked on and 2) that Microsoft wussed out of committing to the Kinect technology, so without a significant update it wouldn't be able to make a great Black and White game. (finger movement detection would be really important)

Still...that slim possibility makes me think I would rush out and get a Kinect if only they'd make it as great as it could have been. Having a game like Black and White out for it would make it all the more awesome.

Time to play pretend then, I guess. Do you think Black and White would've made an exciting game, worth the price of admission? Or are there any other games that would make a fantastic addition to the kinect?

Black and white was the biggest disappointment I have ever had the misfortune of playing. I seriously doubt adding kinect would make any difference.

I thought the second one was kind of fun, mainly because we could now build armies. Plus, not many other games let you play as god hurling rocks at people and buildings.

A kinect B&W game...no. I'm not into kinect anyway, I wouldnt mind a B&W game for 360 but it seems Peter is obsessed with the Fable series right now.

Well, I'm far from into the kinect at this moment. When it was announced it sounded really exciting, it was the games that were released for it that really tipped it off as a crappy shovelware device. If there were exciting games released, such as Black and White, I would actually give it a look.

I think, contrary to the above post, that controlling the game with your actual hands would really suit that game. It's one of the few games I think would actually benefit from the hardware.

I think Steel Battalion is what will help me decide if the Kinect can pull off something for the hardcore audience. Until then tho, Kinect is just another brand for the shovel wear that is coming out that market.

Everything Peter Molyneux has made in recent years is over hyped and dissapointing. If you managed to get him to stop talking about his games in a overtly pompous way to the gaming media and to actually find some of that creative genius he appears to be be only able access half of when working on new games, then maybe we might get something that isn't part gold, part retarded.

Kinect, or otherwise.

As for the hardcore and Kinect. I hope for the sake of the industry and the medium the two eventually connect (excuse the pun) and something good comes of it. Otherwise this motion controlling phase is just going to be a massive mess when looked back upon with hindsight a few years down the line. A mess that brought new audiences to the medium, and will eventually, and for this reason indirectly encourage the growth of it as entertainment, art and industry, but a mess none the less.

Oh my God, the thing has been out for less than two months and you're saying MS wussed out on Kinect?

I was hoping that this was going to be a thread about Microsoft coming out with a white Kinect sensor. I still have a white 360.

Well, they're launch consisted of Wii-knock offs. The launch is a pretty important time, to really make an impression, and that is the impression they chose.

Also, they seem to have cut back in terms of technology, the accuracy and input lag being two examples. If they were really serious about it, I doubt they would have done these things.

That said, maybe this is just to get a load of money from the consumer, then bring out Kinect+ or whatever, that actually does the job suitably well.

I haven't actually got one, so if you have any positive feedback, I'd love to hear it, but I haven't heard much elsewhere.

I loved B&W so this sounds like it'd be amazing. No clue as to the tech capabilities of Kinect when it comes to hands but with a little tweaking I'm sure it could get there. I remember the game was supposed to be compatible with some kind of glove that Logitech (I think) made.

Never understood why B&W gets so much hate. So it didn't do everything the company said it would to the standard most people expected. What does? It was still brilliant in many ways. From having some of the best graphics around a the time (the only things I can think of as comparable were Sacrifice and Giants: Citizen Kabuto), to having some incredible AI (yes the creature had problems but it was pretty fucking impressive none the less).
Maybe it was marketed wrongly and so people who would never be interested in a god-game bought it, in which case I'm not surprised so many were disappointed. God-games are slow and about the long-term. It's been a pretty niche market since games developed into shooters more. Popular back in the days of Populous but then on the decline from Quake onwards.

It's a shame. I knew loads of people who loved B&W when it came out but now it's become one of the punchbags of gaming. And the only people to blame are those who oevrhyped it (ie. every magazine preview at the time) and those who bought into the hype.
