With Thanksgiving only a few hours away (apologies for anyone outside the States), I think we should all take a minute to talk about the far more important day. Black Friday of course! Are you planning on buying something special this year? Looking for any great deals? Discuss, share, advise, let us all bask in the warm glow of consumerism.

Personally, I'm looking to get a gtx 770. Newegg's deals started at 1pm but there's nothing all that spectacular. The email they sent me hinted at better deals on the way so we'll see! So what about you??

I was going for the exact same card, actually, to replace my current Radeon HD5850. Apparently I don't need to upgrade my CPU for it (Intel Core i7 930 2GHz). I think the DirectCU version of the GTX 770 is meant to be quieter, cooler and better at overclocking than the regular 770.

The prices of the card are also pretty fair, from what I've seen. It's a good one for the ol' value for money.

I am just not dedicated enough to shop on Black Friday, I hate the crowds and the chaos too much. I'd rather pay a little more and not camp out in a parking lot or fight people for whatever I am after.

Good luck to any of you who do dare enter the fray though, please don't trample too many elderly security guards.

I'm staying my grandma's for Black Friday so I may go out to laugh at how pitifully small the crowds are in her tiny town. I'll probably buy some clothes but there's no stores that sell videogames there and no internet (or cell phone service) so I can't get anything I really want.

I'll shop online. Arsenal is putting some stuff on sale, and I could do with another hoody.

God no.

I can't stand shopping normally, so doing it on Black Friday where someone will fight you for the last Xbone or Wii-U is not a priority for me.

I'm sorry... It just isn't XD

I'll try to get things for people before hand, but have no qualms whatsoever about just handing over a "good for one da da da da da" coupon that they can hand over whenever the thing is available.

I'm not get shanked for a PS4 :D

Me and my dad are planning on going to this sort of computer superstore about an hour away. It's like a Best Buy and a supermarket at the same time, I've picked up great things there.

I don't know what I'm getting though. Maybe a few games for presents, probably a mechanical keyboard or a better mouse for me, maybe a better wireless adapter.

I work on Black Friday though, so I'm not doing too much.

probably nothing on black friday itself unless i find/hear of just a killer deal, cyber monday is where it's at :D

I'm helping a friend build a rig so I'll be looking at prices across the web pretty closely all weekend, should be a fun deal.

Fuck no. I'm hiding inside and you can all murder each other for deals on shit you're only buying because it's on sale without me.

Don't have that here, but after Christmas we got mellandagsrea in Sweden(translates to "between days sale"), which I assume is simular except we don't stampede over each other in total chaos. Lasts until New Years Eeve iirc.
Not planning on getting anything special. Last time I bothered was four years ago when I bought my PS3. Doubt the PS4 will be brought down in price so soon after launch.
What I really need is more weights for my dumbbells, and other work out equipment, so I might keep a look out for sales in that area.

That sounds like a Boxing Day thing, the United States is one of the few western countries that doesn't celebrate Boxing Day/Week, which is sorta more the reason we have Black Friday.

Ive paid my dues on black Friday when I was younger. Standing outside in (0 F, -17C) degree weather with wind chilling you to the bone for 4 hours, only to get trampled by old women.

Nope, black Friday is a game for the very young and old.

I put my TV on lay-away this week at sears. It's on sale and the price is going to be the lowest it will ever be. I was told that waiting in line would have been a waste of time. So I get a $800 TV for $600 and no lines. Win,win in my book.

for anyone interested, it's the Panasonic TC-P50S60 plasma TV.

I like black Friday but have too much homework to go out. (yet oddly i'm here... it's cool, you can judge me.) Just a friendly reminder that if you haven't heard of a brand before, it might be a product made for black Friday specifically. meaning- its completely cheap shit. Watch out for those TV sets that are just a touch too good to be true.

I'm on to the Black Friday scam. The stores jack up the prices & lower them back to what they were to give the illusion of a sale. It's also a dangerous time to be caught in a crowd.

Black Friday is one of the main reasons people outside the USA laugh at the people in it, I find. Just read the wikipedia article there's a whole list of people that've died working on that day due to feral crowds.

Well, since it will be my 21st birthday on Black Friday, it will probably be the day that I'll remember for a long while... since it will be that one birthday with the most body counts relating to a single event unrelated to my birthday...

Eh... I'll probably just buy some pizza or something... and probably make up my mind about trading in my copy of Arkham Asylum GOTY for the Arkham Bundle "Black Friday" deal alongside it... as well as buy that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Strategy Guide online before I fangirl out some more... again...

(This week, alone, has maxed out my fangirlism more times than my body is willing to admit right now...)

I do have to pick up some things but nothing hardware/software related. Really the only thing I might be interested in getting is a water cooling system for a new PC. Ive been wanting to try one out to see how they perform vs the current double fan systems I use.

I may also pick up a few cheap PC games I want to play if I see some. I always look through the bargain bins for games too because its like picking the diamonds out of a pile of junk

Yeah, I'mma be picking up a vita, mainly for two reasons
1. Dangan Ronpa is gettin ported over to the states.
2. Dance Dance Revolution: Persona mix

What I find funny is that some stores are soo hyped up for black Friday, they open on thanksgiving. I can only imagine what the advertisements on that are like. "Come get your Friday shopping done this Thursday!" reminds me of yesterday-mail
