Black Ops: 8 players with 2 PS3s?

I'm planning a LAN party tomorrow, and we want to play some CoD:Black Ops on PS3. What I'd like to know, if anyone can tell me for sure, is if it's possible to have 8 players in the same game, using 2 networked PS3s and 2 screens? Like 4-player splitscreen, twice? PSN ids aren't an issue, since we won't be playing online, just locally, using a crossover cable.
I can't directly test this myself right now because I've only got one of the PS3s to hand, and I can't find a definitive answer from Google.
Please help me The Escapist.

One way you can test is going onto multiplayer and trying to host a LAN game with a couple controllers hooked up. If it lets you add in those other controllers as players, then you should be good to go. Otherwise, it'll be like my experience trying to do 8 player MW2 over 2 PS3s. It won't work.

I reckon 2x split screen would work, as you can go online with this, not sure about 4/ps3 though
