I know there are a lot of people that don't like Black Ops, and that's fine. But if you've ever ventured over to a little site called YouTube and watched three or four Black Ops videos, you will start to notice a strong hatred of the Ghost perk.

I've never come across this hatred on here and was wondering if anybody else had noticed this? There's quite a lot of dislike of Second Chance (but people have always disliked Last Stand and it's variants) but the hatred of Ghost is entirely new - seeing as Cold Blooded (and UAV Jammer etc.) has always been fairly acceptable.

The dislike probably originates from popular YouTube channels that offer game-play commentaries and people have just jumped onto the bandwagon of hate.

So do you believe that using something that the game has provided is underhand or can be seen as cheating? Personally I think that if it's in the game for everybody then it's fair play.

Its not cheating, its not even all that overpowered honestly, but I still cant stop myself from completely hating people who use it just because (and I know this is probly just my imagination) it seems like everyone in a ghillie suit (has ghost) is just more of an asshole than regular players.

They always seem to be the guy with the silenced shotgun, hiding inside grass or in a dark corner not moving, or claymore camping a hallway, humping their sam turret, just anything a person could do in black ops that isn't really cheating, but just seems like a dick move, they always have that goddamn suit on.

Edit: Also, its never cheating, because as you said it was put into the game for people to use. But that doesn't mean that people aren't allowed to hate them for it, there's alot that you can do in call of duty that isn't against the rules but still makes you a tool for doing it.

People hate the Ghost perk? Sucks to be them, there are UAVs in the air all the freaking time.

Unbalanced things exist, like One Man Army, Danger Close and using a grenade launcher in MW2.

Hardline Pro was overpowered and awesome in Black Ops before they patched it to only get a second chance on "Care Packages" instead of all packages...

Edit: My sniper and silent classes use Ghost and Ninja. It helps get the drop on people, and avoid being taken out instantly by every single piece of air support...

Its not cheating by any measure, it surprises me that more people don't use it though, it provides a huge advantage. If people don't want to use it then fine but complaining when others do seems to me to just be being sore for choosing the wrong perk.

Only problem I have with that is the tendency of spawn-campers to use that perk, so you spawn with no clue where they are >.>
Add a silenced weapon, and you never know if your own spawn point is going to be safe >.>
Apart from that little justified dislike, I have no problem with it or any other perks.

I think it mostly comes more from a hatred of people who use it to camp more than the perk itself to be honest. I use ghost and have yet to have anybody complain about it. I think people are happy enough as long as you are not a camper.

But while you are one the subject of Black ops, whats with the hatred for the ak74 and the china lake? I do not use the ak but I do use china which gets people riled up for some reason.

The thing with the community seems to be that if it is any good then you should not be allowed to use it. They seem to want every decent weapon nerfed. They will not be happy till all the weapons do about as much damage as a water pistol. All people go on about is this is unfair and that is unfair, But my arugument is why should I use an inferior weapon when a better one is available? Would they tell the army to give up there guns, armor and planes because it makes it unfair to the taliban? Hell no, because it is a retarded idea.

Well as I am a flanking, silencer type, ghost perk is golden for someone like me for obvious reasons. I have had my share of hate when I just out flanked an entire team and single handedly ruinded thier day, but hey i use ghost others use hardline, a fair trade if I may say.

Anything that is overused just generally gets branded as cheap and the weapon of campers and noobs. I think that Black Ops does have some balancing issues but Ghost isn't one of them.

I've always felt UAV Jammer and it's ilk were cowardly and cheap. The only reason to use them is to avoid direct confrontation, which is pretty cowardly in my opinion.

Exactly! I remember the old days where making a stealthy ghost kit was a legitimate tactic.

I have two Ghost perk classes. One is my sniper class, which for the obvious reason has Ghost. The other I call my "Anti-Air" class, and it currently uses the Galil with Reflex site (with a teal heart as the reticle) and the Strela-3. I use that when someone gets the hind, attack chopper, or copper gunner killstreaks. The Ghost helps somewhat with those, but not always.

*Edit*

Also, seeing ppl talking about Second Chance, I have Second Chance Pro, and it still rarely helps me. I think the ppl that complain the most about it are the ones that dont make sure before moving on that the other guy is down. Once I see a 100 pop up on screen, I did my job, and move on.

It is my belief that this hatred orriginates with campers who just got their chopper gunner blasted by someone running ghost pro, possibly before they get a single kill out of it. To them all I have to say is... lol =P

Nothing against the perk itself, just the nooby tactics people use with it; I genuinely get annoyed at perks like Second Chance some times, but the perks and tiers of perks in Black Ops seem (personally) to be the most balanced since they came into existence.

replace silenced shotgun with SMG or assualt rifle and thats how i play, although i do stick to trees and bushes i move with them, i dont camp (unless im seriously outnumbered, then i have no option but to hide). i play cleverly with ghost though, use a decoy grenade to lure some sucker into my path and then i fire a ballistic into his face and run off again

what annoys me is that people see this is "being a dick". Its a basic hunting technique used by almost every animal: hide, bait and attack. i consider someone who runs about following red-dots to be a dick.

Can you put a link to a vid with ghost hate? I'd be interested in hearing ^^

I've always used cold blooded/ghost and not once has anyone said anything about it...The most game breaking perk in recent cods is Dead silence/ninja (by a mile)...Where did I put my flame shield...

I use ghost. I didn't know people hated it. I use it because I used the same perk in every call of duty game. I just like moving around without some kid who shot up a UAV tracking me.

This. Definately.

I have no problems with Ghost because you lose out on some other pretty good perks as well (Hardline and Scavenger) which balances everything out.

EDIT: I generally use Hardline because I'm always the guy who has constant Spy Planes in the air (2 killstreak with Hardline) and I love my Care Packagaes. However, sometimes I will use Ghost with a Silenced AUG if I'm up against some really tough opposition.

Second chance can just be aggravating when you're have to spend an extra second killing someone who uses it that could have been spent getting away from the guy who just killed you. Although, I agree with it being a bit useless. I never get any kills with it and you can tell when someone uses it by how the fall after getting shot. The only use it has is the Pro version so you can be revived if a teammate saves you.
