I think it mostly comes more from a hatred of people who use it to camp more than the perk itself to be honest. I use ghost and have yet to have anybody complain about it. I think people are happy enough as long as you are not a camper.

But while you are one the subject of Black ops, whats with the hatred for the ak74 and the china lake? I do not use the ak but I do use china which gets people riled up for some reason.

The thing with the community seems to be that if it is any good then you should not be allowed to use it. They seem to want every decent weapon nerfed. They will not be happy till all the weapons do about as much damage as a water pistol. All people go on about is this is unfair and that is unfair, But my arugument is why should I use an inferior weapon when a better one is available? Would they tell the army to give up there guns, armor and planes because it makes it unfair to the taliban? Hell no, because it is a retarded idea.
People hate the Chine Lake because "0mga 1tz a n00b t00b!!11!", which is pretty retarded because sure, it may be more powerful that your 40mm GL, but it's slower to use. I can see the AK74 hate though, because once you put a grip on that thing it's unfairly accurate.

I have two Ghost perk classes. One is my sniper class, which for the obvious reason has Ghost. The other I call my "Anti-Air" class, and it currently uses the Galil with Reflex site (with a teal heart as the reticle) and the Strela-3. I use that when someone gets the hind, attack chopper, or copper gunner killstreaks. The Ghost helps somewhat with those, but not always.

*Edit*

Also, seeing ppl talking about Second Chance, I have Second Chance Pro, and it still rarely helps me. I think the ppl that complain the most about it are the ones that dont make sure before moving on that the other guy is down. Once I see a 100 pop up on screen, I did my job, and move on.
Second chance can just be aggravating when you're have to spend an extra second killing someone who uses it that could have been spent getting away from the guy who just killed you. Although, I agree with it being a bit useless. I never get any kills with it and you can tell when someone uses it by how the fall after getting shot. The only use it has is the Pro version so you can be revived if a teammate saves you.
That actually the reason I do use it. If I can make the other guy spend another second to kill me, it (hopefully) gives my teammates another second to kill him or escape. If by some qwurk I manage to kill the guy while down, awesome.

It's a trickle down effect, people complained about A,B,C perks in previous iterations - so they find new perks X,Y,Z to complain about then the previous ones are removed or changed.

Ghost is overused, but not overpowered. As a result of being overused, you see a lot more people being hidden from Spy plane (UAV). One thing I find in a lot of CoD players it that they are heavily reliant on their mini-map and mainly the "sweep" that the Spy Plane does to reveal enemy locations. Another effect is that the perk offers protection from killstreaks, which probably doesn't rub too well with anyone using chopper gunner or any aimable killstreak.

Personally, the only I hate about the perk is that it looks like a bunch of wookiees running around.

As long as theres killstreaks, theres gonna be a UAV jammer perk. You stop one, you stop both. Its too easy to get UAV and its not overpowered, the UAV is. People just complain because the killstreak they just earned (most likely by cheap methods, not saying everyone does) doesent mean they can just run to where the enemies are and surprise them.

The reason Cold Blooded and UAV Jammer weren't considered over-powered in previous CoDs is simply because to use it would mean giving up Stopping Power, which was a big decision.

However, I don't actually think Ghost is overpowered since it's pretty much useless without a suppressor, which vastly drops a gun's power over any sort of range, it requires you to give up such great perks as Scavenger, Hardline and Flak Jacket and the minimap only accounts for part of what a player should be using to gauge where an enemy is, the other two parts being sight and sound, both gun and footsteps.

I take advantage when ever I have a Ghillie suit. If I can't hide in the grass with out being called a fag, where can I hide?

Besides, I prefer Scavanger for Deathmatch. Ghost only comes in for Search and the Occaisional Deathmatch.

But second chance is over powered. Badly. 1 minute of hanging on till someone can find and revive you? It's just more chance for your kill to get nicked. And if you get 2 campers sticking to each other like glue, both using it. It can be a real ball ache to get rid of them.

Wankers.
I understand what you mean, but most of the time anyone who gets put into second chance dies immediately. Besides, I'm pretty sure someone can hang on for a minute if they're bleeding out.

I've always used cold blooded/ghost and not once has anyone said anything about it...The most game breaking perk in recent cods is Dead silence/ninja (by a mile)...Where did I put my flame shield...
I call out Jammer/Cold Blooded users all day. As I said previously, the people that run this all the time are generally bad players who can't win a 1v1 situation, so they opt to flank or camp corners instead. Cowardly, in my opinion. Then again, I'm a big proponent of having a sense of honor in multiplayer gaming. Anything that might be considered "cheap" is against my personal code of conduct.

As for Dead Silence and Ninja... yea, they're the best perks in every Call of Duty game by a landslide. Hearing footsteps is such a HUGE advantage that I literally laugh every time I see someone not using it.

Flanking is cheap and cowardly? What?

I am sorry but your perceived notion of honour seems greatly backwards...O.0 DS/Ninja carries far less honour than CB/Ghost :S

I use CB/G too stop UAV gawkers from getting the jump on me (and in B:Ops stopping air support from shooting me in the behind xD), and when a UAV isn't up then its a perk that's not getting fully used...Plus flanking and what not can be done by any set up...Heck I used to have a Marty/shotgun class for the lol's and maneuver behind the op'team.

DS/N on the other hand more or less allows you to run around like a headlesss chicken without any consequences, not given the op a chance to react/retreat until you generally on my part shoot them in the back - I can't stand combat slipper wearing numpties wielding kids weapons...=/

Back when I was in a clan and was running a team, I made all my underlings remove dead silence on their public classes...Result being they did better in matches where there were no perks to cover their foot steps (namely PAM none of that pro mod rubbish ^^).

Anyway each to their own but I do not view DS/N as honourable by a long shot.

I always run with Ghost, as I find it the most superior perk of tier 1 at least for SMG and AR and Sniper Rifle users. Really gives you an advantage, as I am one of those "bitches who camps".

I play mostly HC Demolition, and I camp 75% of the time, either to defend a bomb site or to prevent enemy from getting to a bombsite we are bombing. Honestly, I have no idea what is bad about "camping". If you die to a camper on a single route, why can't you choose another? As I have said before, camping is a valid strategy, and no matter where you camp there is always at least one spot where you can be surprised and shot. And there are grenades, too.

Only thing I dislike is when people jump and shoot. They don't dive to prone, which I think is fine, but they jump and shoot in the air with those SMG's.

For the guy calling other than running head first into danger cowardly: what, are you stupid?

I find Ghost fine, to be honest. Not everybody I come across uses it though I use it myself for my assault class along with a silenced Commando. It's dead handy for hit and run tactics and attacking objectives on the sly.

I usually play support with my pals (I guess you could call us a clan...) and it's effective for popping up behind foo's and catching them in a pincer movement.

Second chance bugs me a little from time to time, especially when connection isn't great so it seems like I have to empty and entire clip into someone before they finally croak. Saying that though, I've gotten better at just flinging a tomahawk at their junk as they pull their pistol out.

I don't know, the Urban spec ops and Tropas suits look pretty good.......the others look like novelty sumo wrestling suits with all that padding.

Anyway:

I use Ghost as my main perk for my Sniper class for the obvious reason of keeping him out of radar sight while he does his work.
I do get annoyed with Noob tubers but only for the fact that thats all they do, run and tube everyone, re-supply and start again just to get points and then rage when someone stops them with a well placed PSG1 Sniper round to the head *Coughs*

COD players hate everything. You pretty much can't enter a PC server without seeing a server message of "no claymores/tubes/camping". I just stopped playing and went over to Battlefield BC2, where the community aren't a bunch of whiney babies.

If you are using Ghost then you need pair it with Ninja otherwise you are really wasting the Ghost Perk.

With that said, I usually run with Lightweight, Sleight of Hand, and Marathon -- Basically because I play lots of CTF and I need to haul ass around the maps.
