AWESOME! Love what they did to the sniper rifles. Quick scoping was retarded and supremely unrealistic. I've always sniped the old school traditional way so this will not be a problem with me at all.

Outfuckingstanding I say!

Right. The game isn't due to come out for another 16 hours, and you're a psychic so you already know the game is a broken piece of shit.
Gameplay videos coupled with screen shots etc have led me to believe this is a carbon copy of MW2's gameplay and MW2 was shit. You don't have to play a game to make an opinion but if that's what you want then sure, I'll pirate it, play it for a few minutes and then strengthen my opinion. Yes, I did say pirate because unfortunately there is no demo in sight.

chemicalreaper said:
Well, to be honest Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is broken as well -- remember the SAW? I do. That's just as broken as Chopper Gunner. Medal of Honor is broken as well -- in fact, it's probably worse than Call of Duty.
I'm fairly sure I said Battlefield not Bad Company 2 but if I did then yeah, I do remember the SAW. Unfortunately I never played Squad Team Deathmatch so I can't say it bothered me.

I did play the Medal of Honor beta and it didn't impress me. They attempted to clone MW2 in every way which is what led to its downfall.

chemicalreaper said:
So, yeah. If you don't like it, don't play it.
I'm actually going to play it because, like you said, "you can't form an opinion until you play it" which is partially true even though the gameplay looks no different than that of MW2's. I'll pirate it, however, as Activision or rather Treyarch forgot to include a demo and I'm not really keen on buying games without trying them first.

chemicalreaper said:
I reckon that you'll still play this game.
Of course I will. But will I actually buy it?

chemicalreaper said:
And hey, who cares if it's 'broken.' Just about every game is 'broken' in some way
I do. It's why I haven't bought the games on your list. Well, apart from MW2 and Bad Company 2. MW2's been gathering dust for about a year due to how horrible it is and I still give Bad Company 2 a spin now and then since due to the nature of Rush and its maps I don't really have to worry about weapon balance.

Also, Medal of Honor had lag? I had absolutely no lag whilst playing the beta.

Yes, it's amazing. Best COD yet.

1.Chopper gunner can get shot out of the seat. BALANCE! if you dont suck.
The anti-air missile isn't unocked till level 30, but as soon as I reach that I'll be happy.

2.SNIPING is staying in a similar location and providing support, NOT 1 man army(ing) and trying to shoot people from 5 feet away.
Having now tried the sniping, I have to say it does feel a bit too nerfed. It flies all over the place when you try to aim.

3.and the map is called NUKE TOWN! have you never seen or heard of nuclear testing facilities testing on replicas of towns? EVER?!?!?!there in the 50's! Thats the government replicating a real life situation that gets nuked, so they can see the effects.
Uh, ok. That's nice. I don't recall raising any concerns with the map's theme.

Am I the only one who thinks that the graphics look horrendous in this particular video?
Yeah, Nuke Town is a pretty blocky looking map. The campaign has amazing graphics though.

Well, look what you've done, Miracle. Already 10-20 people or so have come over here to say "Hurr, durr, Black Ops sucks, I knew it.", based on this single piece of slight concern.

Well, how can it not suck when the multiplayer is unbalanced and the single is short and stup... oh, wait, we never saw any of this, did we?

It has been 9 hours the game's release. I think it's just a little too early to judge. Especially based on, like, two minor aspects of the game.
Sigh. Guess I should've known better than to voice some simple concerns about the game without having people spit bile all over the thread!

I've played the game a fair bit now, and thankfully air support doesn't show up much. Second Chance is a horrible, flow breaking perk though and every second person has it on :(

Fairly sure that there is a launcher unlocked at the start (can't remember the name) but its similar to the at4 from MW2 where it can by locked onto aircraft and fired freely, should be the default secondary on the lmg class iirc. However this doesn't exactly help when you're getting spawn killed as shown in the video.

Yes, I know I'm probably over-reacting guys. But I love the COD series and it will break my geeky little heart to have another game ruined by random, overpowered, flow-breaking, frustrating bullshit, so yeah, I get a little passionate :D
Yeah, that's why I didn't buy Modern Warfare 2... It was literally PACKED full of "random, overpowered, flow-breaking, frustrating bullshit" in both the single player and multiplayer.

That seemed to me like a bad network connection causing rounds not to hit, not gameplay, but not being the one playing, I don't know. The other thing, that looks a lot more like he's being hit when he aims then the rifle just randomly swaying, and that's far from all over the screen, I personally don't think it will take much to compensate. Then again, I avoid FPS online play like the plague. You bring up some fair points, but I really think you're jumping the gun on this, given the game is only just being released.
No, there are multiple videos showing people doing controlled experiments aiming at walls and having the shots go somewhere completely different than where the bullet goes. It was possible to compensate before the patch, but now it is ALL luck. The developers made a comment on how cheap quick scoping was after the patch was released to justify their actions.

I don't care, I'm sick of CoD for fucks sake. It's literally overdone worse than Halo, and not any more fun or basically any different what-so-ever. But I like playing innovative, well-designed, "smart" games with good plots so maybe it's just me.

(I don't care that the game hasn't come out yet, it's gonna be a lame cliched plot and tbh I've killed more people in video games about every (relatively) recent war already than have actually died in real life... It's old... There are other things to make games about.)

He wasn't quick-scoping in that video, I've definitely pulled off shots like those or in that amount of time but at range in MW2. It looks like they've gone a little far to stop quick-scoping. I would expect Treyarch to play with that mechanic a little.

Keep your receipt, take the game back for a full refund, and PLAY A GAME WHICH IS ACTUALLY GOOD.

Seriously, after the glitchfest that MW2 turned into, you really expected this to be any better and not have equally as many flaws, even if they were different ones?

Now while you guys are stressing out over this dire shitstain of a game, i'll be playing Gish and maybe a bit of Minecraft, play some Dead Rising 2, etc... and having a lot more fun than you guys are.

The campaign is amazing. As in, probably the best shooter I've ever played.

So even if the multi turns out to be broken, I'll have gotten good fun from the single player.

Oh, fair enough then, as long as you personally think you got your moneys worth, thats the important thing ^^ I just find all these people who bought it pretty much with their focus being on multiplayer and expecting something decent to be very naive

TF2 snipers.
They have to wait as well before firing a shot.
Why aren't you complaining about this as well?

It seems to me that they've been caught in a conflict of audiences. Their fans seem to want unbalanced gameplay, I mean, could you imagine the outrage if they got rid of commando? The super-powered SCAR? They want the level ups to not make subtle improvements to already good weapon sets, they want to become a fully kitted out badass by the top ranks, which is understandable to a certain extent, nothing's more annoying to spend time ranking up only to find that you've unlocked something utterly worthless, but to most of us ex-cod players who maybe loved COD4 but found that things got out of hand in WaW and MW2 alot of these new perks. No doubt, as game developers and therefore people who can (most of the time) understand what makes balanced gameplay, treyarch feel caught between those who want to become ridiculously powerful, and those who just want to play a decent game, and that's without even thinking what kind of pressure activision must be putting on them to adhere to what their most profitable market want, of course, keeping in mind that in this case, their most profitable market may not actually want a properly balanced game.

It seems to me that they've tried to please both crowds here, with the super powered perks and weapons that the cod fanboys want, whilst using said perks to create an air of chaos that anyone who's played a truly excellent big team game on halo an any point will tell you can make even an unbalanced game memorable and exciting. With the price mark up this time being a comparitively acceptable five pounds, I'm almost tempted to try it out, despite my mostly bad experiences with MW2 in the past. And the feeling of inevitable overpriced "buy our map packs, or be practically locked out of online" map pack spamming.

To quote myself -

Octorok said:
I just got to play it over at a friend's house (sodding television), and I gotta say - I love this. So much. I got the jump on so, so many people who tried to quickscope me, and I then tried a little sniping myself. I was up on the top floor of a building, picking off the enemy as they charged through a chokepoint. I had no problem. In fact, that was my first (and only) game of Black Ops MP where I came top. I know, I'm terrible, but now snipers are forced to pull back from the front lines, staying steady, using cover more efficiently and actually aiming.

And it's not camping. For one thing, a good sniper will move after a couple of kills. I don't know what else to say. Sniper rifles are still a perfectly valid choice - it's just that you have to make your shots count, and can't simply rely on the aim-assist and the amazingly broken quickscoping glitch.

Oh, sure. If I had just been popping in and out of my sights I would have missed, but since I stayed scoped in on my targets and stopped them rushing me, I was able to keep up accurate fire.
Really. "Sniping" is not broken, sniping is doing just fine. "Quickscoping" was a cheap glitch, and I'm angry it wasn't nerfed the very fucking second it appeared years ago.

Nothing makes me rage more than a person who, like about a million others, abuses the auto-aim and thinks they got a kill they legitimately earned through skill.

You admit you don't snipe anyway, what is your issue if you don't use the affected weapon?

As for the other things, well.... Second Chance being your other pet peeve, I'm confused. Sure, people use it a bunch, but it's not a problem. I just dish out a few extra bullets when they're on the ground.

On the left...People complaining it shouldn't be realistic.

On the right...People complaining it should.

Can't an unrealistic game have Realistic parts in it? Sure this game isn't realistic, it's obvious, but some parts (of any game) need to be for balance. Sniping,(in real life or games) should always be long range, that is what the gun is designed (again in real life and in games) for.
