Obviously Harrison Ford seeks to have every one of his characters ever get killed off.

Well, Ridley Scott doesn't appear to be nearly as creatively bankrupt someone like George Lucas, so I'm not going to immediately assume the worst. Jared Leto appears to have some Sci-fi chops (Mr Nobody was a'ight) and Ryan Gosling has put in some fantastic performances. It's also not a reboot, thankfully, but I'm not sure if this will force them to kill the ambiguity of the original's ending that made it feel so impacting. Also, with the state of AI as it is today, there's definitely an opportunity for a fairly nuanced look at its future.

I'll reserve judgement on this, but if it ends up that Gosling is some anti-replicant humans rights activist that didn't know he was an AI the whole time I'll be just as disappointed as everyone else.

"Damn nerds want me to keep making movies. I know how to fix that!"
One plane crash later, "well that didn't work, what else can I try?"

I wasn't so sure about it, but Villeneuve is directing, so I bumped myself up to cautiously optimistic.

Gosling is a solid choice. I wonder if he will be the Drive/Only God Forgives/etc, silent and moody character.

They must be using some idea of Ford being the first of an experimental replicant that is the closest that humans could create to another human, and he figures out he is a replicant, and he becomes an ambassador to the other replicants, and we get a MLK type comparison, with him being assassinated but the movement gaining traction, and the idea of what it means to be conscious, or something....

Or something else.

Um...yeah, no, we did not need this.

Blade Runner was set up to be self-contained, a sequel is going to be awkward at best, and sequels aren't the best recently.

Hmm...

Fury Road - Better than the old.
Prometheus - Best one since Aliens.
The Force Awakens - Alright. Disappointing, but not bad.
Jurassic World and Terminator: Genisys - Didn't care to watch them. I thought they looked bad the moment I saw them.
Disagree about Prometheu- no, wait, maybe not, but "best since Aliens" means better than 3, 4 and the two AVPs, so not setting the bar high.

Also, I'm sure we could find a few more disappointing sequels. Fury Road (and, for that matter, Predators) seem to be rather the exception to the trend.

While I also didn't see it, it is indeed spelt "Genisys". So, looks like no need to see it.

Yeah fuck that.

But once you realize Jurassic World is simply Aliens, its a perfectly fine movie.

I don't think Deckard is going to feature - it's a sequel set in the same world, but so far removed from the events of the original film that it's a sequel in terms of setting rather than character. There's also the Jeter novels to consider.

Fury Road: Never seen.
Prometheus: Worst installment of the 'Aliens' series, if you consider it to be part of said series (though certainly better than Requiem if we're considering it part of the 'Aliens' setting)
The Force Awakens: Very average, basically A New Hope 2.0. Only consider it better than Phantom and Clones.
Jurassic World: Quite a good time, but I put it below JP1/2, though certainly better than 3.
Genisys: Quite good, easily the best Terminator film since the first two, but nowhere near their level.

Fury Road: Overrated and sucks my ass. How this movie got nominated for Best Picture I will never know.

Prometheus: No Comment.

The Force Awakens: Look at Fury Road.

Jurassic World: Overrated, heck I still think the only good sequal is Jurassic Park 3, because it had Sam Neill.

Terminator Genisys: Anything with Arnold will make even the worse movies watchable.
