Since Both Dead Space and Dead Space 2 where available so cheap in the autumn sale I decided to pick them both up and let?s play them!

I know the Escapist community can be handy for getting some decen tfeedback for this sort of thing and I would reall aprreciate it! I have never played the games before and actually know next to nothing about the series, so expect an honest response to the scarier elements of the game

If any of you guys are interested check it out the first episode at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNMHJAnMTOE

Thanks! ~Blank

Prepare to be disappointed.

Dead Space (2) is a wonderful third person shooter, but it's not scary. At all. Relies too heavily on jump scares.

It can be damn suspenseful, the eye poker was.

I've already begun to notice they feel more action orientated, it still catches me from time to time, but it?s not that scary.

It's a shame as they had great level, sound and enemy design. Still I'm only about 30 minutes in so something might redeem it later on. As an action game it?s not too bad, but I was hoping for more horror than anything else.

I say add a little bit of challenge to spice it up. If you like challenge that is , playing on survivalist or zealot ( especially if it's your first time ) can make the game quite nerve racking , i played it on survivalist on my first playthrough of DEADSPACE 2 , with only the plasma cutter , and ican tell you the atmosphere while not scary was quite stressful and nerve racking . Althogh if you dislike a challenge and tend to give up DONT DO THIS.

Actually i personally find playing with just one gun ( the plasma cutter ) makes the game slightly easier because you have more money and only have to upgrade one weapon.

Hey man, that's actually nice gameplay ! I like your commentary very much. It makes whole experience less scary and f*ck me, some sections of DS made me almost shit myself. :)
Now i'm able to enjoy at least watching it. Thanx.

Using only the Plasma Cutter in DS2 is actually pretty dang hard. Purposely so. The devs didn't want people using only the PC again and not getting to try out any of the other weapons they put so much work into.

Ironically, the best way to play Hardcore is to just use the Pulse Rifle for everything even though it sucked in DS1.

Since I've seen a few Dead Space LPs and played it myself, I won't be watching, but I had a little sneak peak, and from what I saw, it seems good. Framerate is all good, sound levels are nice, keep it up.

As for Dead Space 2 I might do just that, I'll ramp the difficulty up and I tend to stick with a few weapons in games anyway. So picking something like just the PC might actually be worth doing.

Pff. You're just mean.

Blank, why do you always aim for the legs/crotch? Aim for the arms, man!

Hey I'm updating daily! Though if you want it that bad; I might record it a tad earlier today, plus since now it?s getting real dark around 6pm, I can get the right atmosphere.

Edit: I panic and shoot out the legs, I think there easier to fight on the floor.

I'm demanding beholder. Besides, nowadays, most people must be stimulated to do something, and there's no stimulation better than negative one. ;)

To clarify things a bit : Centrifuge part isn't neither particulary scary nor challenging.
It's about controls - PC version of DS1 is somewhat broken. For example, from time to time Isaac forgets how to run choosing to emulate snail submerged in tar instead.

That was my case during Centrifuge section. No matter how much i tried, i died each and every time. With my frustration reaching apex of Burj Dubai height i had to abandon this wonderful game.

There are gampelays on YT, sure, but i prefer your version. Those commentary of yours... ;)
Anyway : much obliged sir. Thank you so much !

P.S.
And yea, those teeth... Jeeeezus indeed. :)

Consider yourself lucky, or unlucky if you so feel that way, I was told the end of the level was only about 5 mins away.

So I recorded this little segment for everyone to enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he07Gvn8tiw

Wow nice to hear that, and I only checked back here on a whim! I hope to build up a small little following, and hell when I am done with the dead space series who knows what other horrors await me!

Still for the time being I'm drawing closer the centrifuge!

It's like the Battle: L.A. and Cowboys and Aliens of the gaming world. It's chiched and not a world changer, but it's enjoyable enough to partake in once or twice
