What always comes to mind is Love Roller-coaster. I love George but Royal Crescent Mob did a rockin cover and then Red Hot Chilli Peppers rocked it with kazoos. It's funny because overall, I'm a bigger fan of Clinton.
I'm also a bigger fan of Cab Calloway than I am of Danny Kaye but Kaye's version of Minnie the Moocher is scatastic.
I also like the Lemonheads version of Mrs Robinson better than the original.

Never got the love for Cash's "Hurt." It's really an awful piece and I prefer the original. Actually, I prefer the "quiet" version.

I'm a fan of the Dinosaur Jr cover of "Just Like Heaven" also posted, though I'm not sure I prefer it to the original. Manson's Sweet Dreams, and a lot of other staples.
Brian May's cover of "Hot Patootie" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show ranks up with the soundtrack version.
Freddie Mercury's "The Great Pretender" is better than the original.
The Stone Coyotes: "Paranoid," "Ace of Spaces," "It's Late" (Ricky Nelson). I always hated Ozzy's voice, so almost any cover'll do it. I also don't like Motorhead.
Johnny Hyde: Tainted Love. I like other covers, too, but I like his more than the Manson cover even.
Adam Lambert's "Mad Word."
Could probably go on for ages, but....

The original song was really good, but God damned if Peter Gabriel didn't make it immaculate.
Massive Attack is one of my favorite bands. However, I honestly think Gui Boratto's remix is superior to the original version of this particular song.
This version was composed for Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. It was present in one form or another throughout the season but was played in almost it's entirety during the final scene of the season finale. It helped, in my eyes, to make one of the best scenes in the series entirety.
I'm really not a fan of Timberlakes music, but I am a rather big fan of JXL. And, after hearing the following two songs I looked up Timerlakes original version. Hated it. So yeah...I think JXLs cover(s) are superior.

Did we really go 60 posts before someone mentions All Along the Watchtower? I think most people would agree it's one of the best covers of all time, if not the best. Also great call on the Rilo Kiley, I'd completely forgotten about that gem, although I do prefer the original.Limecake said:
