Kubo wanted to end Bleach with the Aizen fight but Jump told him it was too popular and wouldn't let him, said if he ever wanted to be published with them again then he had to keep writing.

(Jump has been known to pull this *expletive deleted* for many years, Bakuman even pointed it out in a few chapters; the MCs are told if they want to write something else then to find another publisher, they solve their dilemma by pushing two publications through at the sometime and making the new one more popular.)

Needless to say everything since then has felt forced; little to no character development followed be anti-climatic fights.

I would not be surprised if Kubo is intentionally making Bleach as boring as possible, while meeting Jump's demands so they'll let it end this time.

Anyone else keeping up with bleach currently? I've been reading it to see how it ends, like I did with naruto, and am in no way impressed or enthralled with it. Literally, in the latest chapter, the big bad villain grows two more pupils (reminding me of the eye hacks in naruto) and essentially states that his power as, A - The Almighty, allows him to see, counter, know, and understand all powers that may be used against him, along with making said powers his to control.

The series has literally downgraded to a bunch of ten year olds yelling that they are more powerful than the other.
Don't know why he doesn't go back and finish Zombie Powder, that manga actually had characters in it instead of 2d cut outs. Not to mention some of his character designs for Bleach were rehashed from this project

I liked Bleach, but I lost interest a long time ago. The fact that it seems to be going on too long with overpowered villains *cough*Aizen*cough* doesn't help...

I went all out of cares for bleach after the second damsel has been kidnapped literally (as in literally, not figuratively because you have to say a word doesn't mean its opposite nowadays it seems) right after the first damsel has been saved because taking 2 years to save rukia was so enthralling we have to sit through it again right away or something.
It started off interesting with the spirit theme but never did anything with it and I suppose it never got any better after the spanish dudes.

I fell off the wagon with Bleach during the Fullbring arc. Oh i'd started losing interest a long before that, but i'd assumed once Aizen was defeated/dead the series would end. Just gonna see it through, you know?

Aizen was an incredibly boring villain and to me the show died with Gin and the Espada. Aizen didn't even die since apparently he became literally immortal and then Ichigo was started on a path getting his powers back from a bunch of people who don't even remember their own allignment and some guy went around stabbing people with a book and a flatcap (that's how i remember this shit).

Aizen dead, Ichigo powerless and forced back to a normal life. That would actually have been an ending i could live with, but of course it had to drive itself into the ground.

I stopped watching after....I think season 2? The point where they went to the Spirit Society to rescue...what's her name, the Soul Reaper that lost her powers to give them to Ichigo. When it became a rehash of DBZ and Naruto I lost all interest.

I actually really loved season 1, and still stand by it being pretty awesome, what with all the spirit dealings they did, policing the spirit world. That part was really fun and enjoyable to watch, but then they just, kind of forgot about all that and went into fighting game mode, and I got bored.

it's still better than 90% of shonen manga.
Lol No.
According to just the popularity ranking it's not. On the last rankings for Jump Issue 4-5 2015 it's 4th from the bottom.
And going through past issues It's been constant on the 5 bottom ranked series in Jump for All around 2014.

Objectively Bleach is currently one of the worst series in Jump, it didn't get Axed earlier on because it was one of the Big 3 with Naruto and One Piece.

Better series in the current Jump
-Boku no Hero Academia, From the author of Sensei no Bulge also VERY NEW with only 20 chapters scanlated. It's main theme is Western Styled Heroes. Main plot is People born with supernatural powers are now the "normals", while the main protagonist who wasn't born with any powers are now considered abnormal.
-Assassination Classroom, from the author of Demon Detective Neuro Nōgami. It's main theme is A Class of for assassinating. Main plot is a Foreign life form destroys 70% of the moon, and threatens to also destroy earth. His only demand, in 1 Year he will teach at a school and he teaches them on how to assassinate him.
-Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma, authored by pretty new Yuuto Tsukuda (his 2nd entry into jump), it's main theme is Cooking. The Main Plot is the Male MC is sent to a elite cooking school where the graduation rate is only 10%. There he must fight with other students through cooking called "Shokugeki" to become one of the school Elites. FYI, Illustrations by Saeki Shun AKA "Tosh"

That's just 3 of the newer generation that's constantly fighting for the top spot in Jump (One Piece is still consistently on top too). Those 3 rarely leaves the Top 5.
Assassin Classroom is so good it's ridiculous. And I should hate it. The stake is "destroy the world" which is the most boring of all stakes and it's a school setting and I've come to LOATHE school settings by now because it's fucking copout for easy appeal to their main audience, AC is such a fresh and fun take at both these tropes and it's just plain good.

I'm still following it, though really only because I've been following it so long I kind have to. It's ... gone WAY down hill since Azien, these Quincy are far from an adequate replacement for the Arrancar. Bach especially, he's just so fucking BORING, Azien could get boring to mind you but least HE had class.

Please tell me more, if you can. I've been looking for a new series to read. Boku no Hero Academia: The author of "Barrage Of The Battle Star!" wrote this?! It's a superhero story as well, with the story that sounds like the main character is almost like Batman? Sold!

Assassination Classroom: I've heard of this, but I've been unsure if I should check it out. Mind telling me a little more? Why should I read this? Pitch it to me. Because the premise certainly SOUNDS interesting.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma: Hmm...this, aside from Hero Academia, is the one that interested me the most. Mostly, thanks to shows like Toriko, or some anime I watched a while ago called "Fighting Foodons". Is this series similar, and if not, what does it do differently?

I quit when magic vampires showed up, had a summon fight with eachother, then left for no reason. I was suffering through the show up until that point thinking "well it's rated number 1 on most anime popularity charts so it's gotta be good! RIGHT?

Then I found a comment somewhere saying 'I miss Bleach back when it was good in the Soul Society Arc!' and I flipped my shit.
'GOOD? What I am watching now is the GOOD OLD DAYS and it's somehow gone DOWNHILL?! What the f**k?! This show is complete garbage! How can it get Worse? Surely this is as bad as a "story" can possibly be? This is almost the very worst thing humanity has ever created and you are trying to tell me it goes downhill after this/ I'm O-U-T out.

Its nothing like Toriko or Fighting Foodons. Its just cooking, there aren't really any super powers, no one really ever gets punched. Its just cooking. The art is amazing the series is literally food porn(kinda funny since that's what its artist used to do.) Think of it kinda like anime Iron Chef.

I'm actually liking how it's progressing..the past few chapters with Ichibei vs Bach have been quite awesome.

I've been following Bleach since the beginning..I'm in no way stopping now. Bleach is my "first time love" so to speak of the big three.

I will always like it because it's one of the first shonen's (aside from DBZ) that I have watched once I got internet in my house in 2005.

For AssClass (lol), it's main story is clearly written on its sleeve. The Teacher is a "foreign Lifeform" who looks like a yellow humanoid thing with tentacles for hands and feet. He's nigh impossible to kill able to move at mach speeds and has super regeneration. His only demand is to teach a class filled with the rejects of this one school for 1 year and besides teaching them how to kill them, he also tries to make them the top students of the school. Apparently the Government has put a bounty of 10 billion Yen to whoever can kill him. The twist to that is, this teacher also provided the one material that can slow his regeneration and kill him.
Besides the School related story, occasionally Professional Assassins will also try to get the bounty, this usually will involve the whole class and this is usually the parts that have a more serious tone, because these Pros won't hesitate to use and kill the students.

For Souma, yeah, what user Syaoran said, it's basically Iron Chef. But it really aims for a realistic cooking story (besides the reactions lol). It details real cooking techniques and the food looks real enough to make. Also the art is very beautiful, the food will always looks enticing. It's rare we get a real "cooking story". While many others tries to combine it with other genres (Toriko with shonen fighting, Yakitate Japan with gag Comedy turns into full fantasy comedy later on lol).
The closest thing resembling with Souma was Cooking Master Boy in terms of the cooking skills/techniques/presentation involved, but not as dark as the story of Cooking master boy.

Yeah, Bleach is one of those series I keep reading out of oblication more than anything else at this point...

Plus it's one of those series where a lot of the fanworks are actually better than canon and expand on stuff in interesting ways, so there's that.

The most damning thing that can be said about any story; "the fans did/do it better!"

But yeah, Bleach really should have ended after Aizen. And preferably without ass-pulling Ichigo's last power-up. My personal preference would have been if Aizen's and Orihime's "I reject your reality and substitue my own" powers had clashed with each other and brought Aizen down from Mount Omnipotent to, you know, actually killable.

I personally feel that Bleach would have been excellent if it ended after the end of the 1st arc. I don't think the story needed to progress past the rescue of Rukia?(Its been a while so excuse the spelling) and truly if the anime was only 60 episodes long, it would have been nearly perfect.

Yes I follow it and every week I bemoan the stagnation of the series. It's like watching a trainwreck. Our main character hasn't shown up for 12 chapters now and counting.

The fight between the big bad and that super shinigami who'se name I can't be bothered to remember lasted 5 weeks. This could have been done in one chapter and nothing of value would have been lost.
