I'm not necessarily saying it's negative, I'm saying it's ballsy as hell. The DRM crap is a huge negative though, and the combination of all 3 is money-grubbing BS. I realise it's a company and they have to make money, but they know how many people are longing to play this, and the way they're handling this is akin to extortion. They're forcing their fans to jump through hoops for the "privilege" to play the game they payed for, at a premium cost no less. And with the new focus on the PvP, you can now pay for power with real money, given that you pay off Blizzard of course. They want to get payed not once, not twice, but three times for every piece of loot people want to sell, in a game with a massive emphasis on loot. That's not business, that's consumer-hating greed.SurfinTaxt said:+GeorgW said:Wait, it's gonna cost 60 bucks? And it has always on DRM? And a real money auction house? Holy shit they have big balls. I guess they assume we're all so eager to get Diablo 3 that we'll ignore all their BS, but I really hope we're not. It's time to stand together, people!
i fail to see how a 60 dollar price tag is a negative
See, that's the problem. Just cuz we're all salivating for it doesn't mean they're allowed to screw us over. There is a competitor out there with Torchlight 2, so why the hell should I award Blizzard my money when they've done everything they could to make me realise that I and every single one of you are nothing but a pile of money in their eyes.artanis_neravar said:With Diablo III? I can agree that for a lot of people it's worth 60 bucks, it's just the combination of the three that pisses me off. Though, to be fair, I wasn't gonna buy it regardless as soon as I heard about the DRM. This however is just overkill, and has driven me to resent Blizzard.Carnagath said:I'll allow it. It's a Blizzard game, not Cod25 with a 2 hour campaign and copy paste multiplayer.GeorgW said:Wait, it's gonna cost 60 bucks?
That is some bullshit indeed, but I do want to play this with friends anyway, so it doesn't affect me.GeorgW said:And it has always on DRM?
Don't care, never gonna use it. Might even prove useful later when I have an MF character all set up (if MF still exists, don't know).GeorgW said:And a real money auction house?
But what if your internet breaks down for a short while? I don't know about you, but that's a big problem for me. If I'm gonna pay 60$ for a PC game, I sure as hell want to play it at my leisure. Also, I liked to play D2 on the road, given how much of a time sink it is it's a great use of the travel time. This completely kills that. I realise this is a personal problem, but it's one I know I share with a lot of Diablo fans, and it pisses me off that Blizzard are just going to disregard us.Draech said:Thank you for making the responce I was going to do.Carnagath said:I'll allow it. Although I would have used the "I am always online anyway" rather than the friends, but they both work.
I'm no fan of Blizzard at the moment, but do keep in mind that it's a beta. You really shouldn't judge it until you've seen the final product. No, what worries me more is the way they've simplified it.AC10 said:I played the Beta. I had my trepidations at first about the always on stuff and auction house. But the beta changed those trepidations into confirmation that I was absolutely NOT going to buy this game.GeorgW said:Wait, it's gonna cost 60 bucks? And it has always on DRM? It wasn't even fun. It was also laggy. Maybe my roommate was downloading something, I don't know,. What I do know is my single player game should not have fucking latency issues no matter who is downloading what. I mean these were BAD. Like, fire a spell, watch the animation, wait 1 second and then the projectile releases and enemies teleport everywhere as the game syncs, BAD.
If you don't want to buy it then don't, but don't expect the rest of us to follow suit. Just because you see something as greedy, money grabbing, or screwing us over, doesn't mean the rest of us do. You may not like the choices they make, but they made them and they made them for reasons not apparent to us. Unless you get to see the entire budget for their game, you can not accurately claim that they are just trying to take our money.GeorgW said:snip
No, you don't like what Blizz seems to be doing with D3. There is a big difference between "eh, I probably won't like that" and "I don't like that.synobal said:Pretty much this. I'm not starting a damned crusade, I'm just voicing my concerns. I think it's important to stand up and say if you have a problem with something. You don't have to agree with me, but I do appreciate you reading my points and evaluating them with your own reasoning. That's really all I wanted to do with my post.artanis_neravar said:If you don't want to buy it then don't, but don't expect the rest of us to follow suit. I'm not being sarcastic. Why would you think I am? Is it so weird to find someone civilized on the internet? Someone that respects other's opinions even if they don't agree with him? I can agree that it looks bleak sometimes, but that's when I escape to this place.artanis_neravar said:I'm never really sure if things like this are meant to be sarcastic. I get yelled at so many times on this site for responding to something assuming it's meant sincerely when it's really filled with sarcasm, so I try my best to ask first, unless they have been excessively douchebagish.GeorgW said:I'm not being sarcastic. Looks like its just you and me, bud. Damn. We're running out of firewood. Mmm, it looks warm over at Blizz-Quarters. Ahem, looks like its just you.GeorgW said:Wait, it's gonna cost 60 bucks? I partly agree, but 60 bucks is still pretty hefty for a game that isn't being shipped with it's PvP component. Something that seems rather stupid considering it's being billed as an "online" game.Carnagath said:I'll allow it. Maybe not at first blush, but the fact that it's "always-on" means there's virtually zero chance of any kind of mod or addon support coming. I'm doubting there'll even be any kind of decent custom map options. And, let's not forget the utter lack of LAN support. Something that still irks me about Starcraft 2.Carnagath said:That is some bullshit indeed, but I do want to play this with friends anyway, so it doesn't affect me.GeorgW said:And it has always on DRM?
You may never use it, but it'll still be a constant presence. I guarantee it.Carnagath said:Don't care, never gonna use it. Might even prove useful later when I have an MF character all set up (if MF still exists, don't know).GeorgW said:And a real money auction house?
The difference here is, if the Blizzard servers go down you literally can not play Diablo 3. No matter what. If the Steam servers go down, you can still launch the games from the local client.Sandytimeman said:I don't understand about the always on thing being a bad thing. Shit 95% of my games are on steam, so...yeah. I am so addicted to the net that I'll got without food if I have to, to make sure that I have net.
So I am literally always on the net, thus its not an issue for me.
I'm buying the collector's Edition myself, of this and the WoW expac, and the CE of Heart of the Swarm. Whenever that comes out.
Exactly. I think you and I are working within the same line of thought.Atmos Duality said:^Yup.AC10 said:I just want Torchlight 2.
I can't hack the constant net connection for single player, nor do I want to encourage the single-player-games-as-services trend that's inevitably going to kill gaming for me once and for all.
I plan on getting the CEGeorgW said:Wait, it's gonna cost 60 bucks?
so it's like an MMO now? that i don't have to pay $15 a month for? down side is?GeorgW said:And it has always on DRM?
cool, maybe it can pay for it self then. cause, ya know it works both ways and not just one -.-GeorgW said:And a real money auction house?
