All of that RealID crap has been canceled if that was what you were referring to. It's going to be made an optional choice.
I know, and thank you.

It's this what concerns me - http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=127066

As far as Starcraft II goes, its a good game imho and well worth the money, expansions or not. If you don't want to pay the money, the cool thing about consumerism is that you don't have to buy it if you don't want to.
Yes, and great thing about freedom of speech is I can complain when I believe it's wrong, and I will do just that as well as remind you that the 'worth' is a matter of opinion in this case.

I'm not going to get anything I want by ignoring it, aren't I?
Then you won't mind me pointing out that I did say that my measure of worth of the game was, in fact, an opinion.

I could understand your complaints if the campaign missions weren't equal and you were getting less of a game, but that's not the case here. Someone already beat me to that point though.

So a company wants to make money. That's what every big company wants to do, it doesn't make them corrupt. Having all three races (and maybe even campaigns to go with them) in one single game would be HUGE, especially if they all totaled to 30 missions per race.

EDIT: Though I will throw my hat in and say that I'm not entirely amused with the map making issue.

It's not about how many missions I get, it's playing all 3 race campaigns in the original game. I prefer the set-up in the previous games because it has everything in the first game, I didn't have to pay extra to play some zerg and protoss campaigns.

I can understand company's making money but forcing me to buy the expansions just so I can play the Zerg and Protoss in campaign is over the top. Same with charging customers for absolutely everything (most of the things being free before) when they have 10 times more money than ever before. To me, this is corrupt. They're already gonna make so much money it's going to be a world record.

In the future, could you please take the time to clean up your tags.

Also, your claim for "Premium Map Packs" doesn't apply in the same way as it does for your precious Modern Warfare Activision Demon Spawn. In case you haven't been tracking Starcraft 2's development, and the capabilities of SC2's engine, you can make entirely different games and release them through battlenet via Starcraft 2. It's basically like a way of selling independent source games like Steam has done for god knows how many years now.
1) The original game did the same thing, and did it for free. Tower defense was born on Starcraft, and it never charged a dime for that.

2) Independent Source Games on Steam? You're either referring to mods for games, which are always free of charge and only ever ask that you own the base game; or games by other companies that run on the Source Engine, which are sold as their own stand alone products.

SC2 seems to run both ways. You WILL need the base game to run these 'entirely different games' and you WILL need to pay for them.

It's like paying for mods. Now that's innovation, specifically, the kind of innovation that has Bobby Kotick written all over it.

Blizzrd isn't planning to charge for games like Tower Defense and such like that. I'm referring to games that for example, were originally source mods but were then developed and sold as actual games (I.E. Killing Floor, Garry's Mod, Portal (more of an independent project than mod), or Counter Strike) that would be developed using SC2's world editor. Do I wish that EVERYTHING would be free that's developed using Starcraft 2? Of Course. But if there's a ridiculously big game project that I and a team have been working on for a good year, I'd want to charge some money for it too.

and no. DoTA isn't a "big game". Popular, but not "big".

Meh :/ blizzard wouldn't risk it. Even if they don't get rid of it before release, it would be easy to just release a battlenet update to remove the damn thing.

I'm going to play starcraft 1 until it's cheap.

Take that blizzard! Pull this crap on diablo again and I'll boycott you for good!
Pull this crap?

...spending lots of money and time on a game until it's great? That's kind of their schtick you know.

Or did you mean the $60 price (which was also for WC3 and Diablo 2) and expansions (which every Blizzard game has had)?

SC1 is a great game to play tho :)
wc3 expansion was no where near 60. it was like 20 at the most. i got it when it was brand new.

Blizzard has around 10,000,000 subs for WoW at ~$15/month. That's ~$150,000,000/month from just WoW subs (if they're all active). Plus they still sell a ton of SC1, SC:BW, SC Battle Chests, W3C... you get the idea. I don't think they're worried about $100 million over the development period.

I am sure Blizzard has almost made their development money back in pre-sales. LoL Side Note: Can't wait to get my copy on the 27th. :D
