This is clearly a reaction to the upcoming release of SWTOR whether or not it works or for that matter is necessary remains to be seen.
I love statements like this.thelonewolf266 said:This clearly a reaction to the upcoming release of SWTOR whether or not it works or for that matter is necessary remains to be seen.
I'm sorry, you appear to be under the mistaken impression that Blizzard don't care about money.Sean951 said:The subscriber count is still 11 million. Even if they lost 2 million to SWOTOR, which would be incredible, they still have at least 9 million subscribers.
I don't need proof, that was my opinion just like your comment is your opinion I'm sorry for not putting a disclaimer on the end of the post I didn't think it was necessary.Rednog said:I love statements like this.thelonewolf266 said:This clearly a reaction to the upcoming release of SWTOR whether or not it works or for that matter is necessary remains to be seen.
I'm sorry but do you have any proof of this? Some sort of insider information that you would care to share with the rest of us?
Because if you don't than you are clearly just talking out of your rear end. It's just your opinion on why they rolled out with this. How do you know it isn't a reaction to Guild Wars 2, it has been getting a good amount of press and a decent amount of various gaming personalities have said good things about it. Or how do you know this isn't a reaction to the growing boom of various free to play games. Seriously, have you looked at the staggering numbers of these microtransaction games?
Hell maybe it is just a reaction to the fact that a lot of people absolutely hate Cataclysm and numbers are just falling away as people get bored to the game itself. Maybe they are like hey we announced Mists of Pandaria, people will come back to max out their characters to prep for the expansion, let's try to lock them in during this time so they won't go away.
Uhh an opinion usually goes along the lines of "I think that" "It looks like" "To me...." etc. When you say something like "This clearly is X" that is a declarative statement, and it implies that it is a fact.thelonewolf266 said:I don't need proof, that was my opinion just like your comment is your opinion I'm sorry for not putting a disclaimer on the end of the post I didn't think it was necessary.Rednog said:I love statements like this.thelonewolf266 said:This clearly a reaction to the upcoming release of SWTOR whether or not it works or for that matter is necessary remains to be seen.

Also micro-transaction games have been big for a while now so I doubt that this would be a reaction to that.SWTOR is very close to release whereas Guild Wars 2 is further off so its more likely to be because of SWTOR and from what I've seen there is more anticipation for SWTOR than there is for Guild Wars 2 and before you ask no I don't have numbers backing that up from a source signed by the president to verify its authenticity its just how i see it so next time I offer an opinion I have no problem with you refuting it but kindly don't insult me for it.

You insulted me by saying I'm pulling things out my rear end that's unnecessary and you did it again in your second post.I never said I like SWTOR in fact I said I thought it may not be necessary for Blizzard to do this in my first post but you clearly didn't bother reading that as soon as you thought I was hating on WOW you jumped to their defence.I also didn't say SWTOR was going to do better or imply in any way that Blizzard was pissing themselves in fact I think any company that doesn't implement measures to ensure their continued success when a similar competing product comes along would be stupid.Oh and the arrogance of you saying you can speak for most other gamers is astounding where is your proof that the majority of people agree with you, considering quite a lot of people in this thread have said the things you seem to be accusing me of saying it would seem you are wrong.Speaking of which why aren't you having a go at people that actually said the thing you are angry about rather than me?Rednog said:Snipthelonewolf266 said:I don't need proof, that was my opinion just like your comment is your opinion I'm sorry for not putting a disclaimer on the end of the post I didn't think it was necessary.Rednog said:I love statements like this.thelonewolf266 said:This clearly a reaction to the upcoming release of SWTOR whether or not it works or for that matter is necessary remains to be seen.

Nah. Blizzard said they calculated the cost based on gaining exactly enough to cover the cost of keeping the auction house running in the first place. They did not intend on earning money from it.hensethe1 said:But if there are millions of auctions each week(day?), it becomes quite a bit, don't itSean951 said:Yes, it must be the death of WoW. Not Blizzard guaranteeing themselves customers for a year or showing loyal customer how much they appreciate their long time loyalty, but just the death of WoW.
I also doubt they are expecting to make much money off the Diablo auction house. I think they only get $.05 per listing and 5% of the selling price?
