How much did Alyson earn from this private server? whats the point suing someone for 80 million when they earn 50k a year? The lawsuit has made the person homeless and bankrupt, how are they supposed to pay exactly?

Hivemind? Oh, do tell. I would love to hear you defend the ethics of what blizzard did in a morally following manner. Unless of course, animals are incapable of moral thought. I almost forgot, I was talking to a pig. Guess there goes any chance for a meaningful discussion. There's a puddle of mud you should be rolling in, isn't there?
Whats not to love? Blizzard sent the Legions of Mordor to make an example out of an easy target who was STEALING from them, and unlike Blizzard, ONLY SHE was getting the reward, Whereas had that money gone to Blizzard it would have fed devs, devs families, and kept them with job(plus the legions of mordor/zombie ninja lawyers dont work for free). Respect them for making the one person into an example, and not one by one washing over them and crushing them under the Steal-toed boot of their armies.
She deserved punishment. I said this, didn't I? Nobody was starving because of her. Nobody's children were going without. But nevertheless, they destroyed her life. Your logic is lacking, and in special favor to Blizzard, special favor they don't deserve. This could have been handled differently, and I don't care about their stupid message, you shouldn't ruin someone's life in the process. Good luck, moral fail.
She stole from them, they stole from her(admitidly they stole different things but hey, she poked the sleeping behemoth when she ignored the C&D letter.
Again. Yes. She stole. Stealing = Wrong. Blizzard went so overkill it transgressed into the territory of evil. I hope they go bankrupt, I really do...if money is this important to them, they don't deserve any of it.
They did not do it for the money, they know DAMN WELL, she will not pay them back in a million lifetimes, they know she won't the money owed is non issue. The message that it sends to everyone doing that crap is what matters, the mark it left will NEVER be forgotten, and it will serve as a warning of what could happen if they pull shit like that.

So why do you already have 10 posts?.
Let me paint this clearly for you. You are ethically bankrupt. You are a pig, fit for the slaughter. Buy a gun, and blow your brains out. It's the only way to save your FUCKING soul. DO IT.
You are a troll, you wont stay here for long.

Please stop saying they destroyed her life. They have not.

I know plenty of people who have declared bancruptcy AND got back on their feet again. I know people who have declared bancruptcy and now own businesses.

Yes it's a heavy punishment, might take her 10 or so years, but I'd rather spend 10 years out of jail rebuilding than 10(?) years inside.

Let's face it, IF (and that's a big if) they have sent her a C&D letter prior to this, which a lot of people seem to think they have, then she deserves this.

The reason why it's such a large sum of cash is because this server was SELLING ITEMS to the people who played on it. Knowing how pissed a lot of people get waiting for a .1-1% drop to occur, I could see why this would be appealing to some.
Oh, yes, I'm quite aware items were being sold. Really, though, can Blizzard say it caused eighty eight million dollars worth of damages? I mean, according to this report, the server owner only made something like three million. That's around twenty nine times the amount made.
Don't get me wrong, an example should be made for this sort of thing, but that's a crazy amount of money.

That was abit much, He may be blindly adoring it/about to fuck it in the ass, but still. As to ruining her life they didn't. They won't collect on it, they won't give a shit because goal was hit. To make a mark by striking down one of them, and leaving the scar for all to see. Her life isn't ruined, and even if they do bother collecting on it she can declare bankruptcy restart, and the Blizz will still have achieved its goal.

AGain, this was not to ruin her, or to make more money. its sole purpose was to make an example of her, to let everyone know that if you fuck with them they will bring you down, if a anything she got it easy she was the warning shot, the next one will be ruined and shipped to the the spice mines at Kessell.

She poked the sleeping giant, Giant warned her, she poked the giant again, giant slapped her across the planet.

This is someone, who took someone else's product. And started selling it for her own.
This is of course very illegal and she has been punished for it.

This whole lawsuit seems aggressively unnecessary. One would think they could just issue a C&D and call it a day, instead of ruining someone's entire financial future over a, to be frank, irrelevant issue.
This. Way to harsh. Not really OT but i think i saw a story where the mother got to pay over half millon US Dollars because her child hade downloaded some music. The kid was 10 year old. This is not cool to ruin peoples life. What a bunch of dickheads.

For starters, I can understand Blizzard getting miffed about people making money off their product. I wouldn't like it very much either. In this case, although I can't be arsed to check, it seemed a C+D notice was served and ignored.

Fine. Warning shot ignored? Fire up the big guns.

What Blizzard have done though is thought: "No. Let's not be girly about this. Break out the tactical nuclear ICBMs!"

Nigh on $90million is beyond insane. There are bigwigs in the oil industry who don't make that kinda cash so to expect one woman with a server to come up with that kind of money is ridiculous! Speaking as someone on debt management, I know for a fact that most creditors prefer to get SOME of their cash back rather than NONE, which is what they'd get if the debtor declared bankruptcy, which is what Reeves is gonna wind up having to do. There is no management plan in the world that will handle that kind of debt so bankruptcy or jail is the only way for Reeves to go.

Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck about WoW or Blizzard but I know that WoW does have a lot of dedicated players and, as a result, Blizzard have more money than God. By all means, come down on someone ripping you off but there has to be an element of proportion involved, surely?

By awarding such a massive figure, I reckon that the judge has buggered Blizzard on this one because, if things go the way people here are predicting, Reeves wont be able to pay and Blizzard will get nothing rather than something.

Blah blah blah, my God, you people. Bankruptcy isn't really a bad thing? What the hell? I've heard it called by professionals in bankruptcy, "Can be your worst nightmare" "will have lasting effects all throughout your lifetime."

You know better than them, then?
I take it you watch loads of TV, believe everything you watch on it, and are terrified of hard work. So she broke the law and now has to work harder because of it. She broke the law by stealing from someone with the power, money, and possibly the ICBM's to take over then entire planet. She will probably declare bankruptcy, have to work hard to restart, and Blizz will forget about it, Blizz doesn't care about her money, Blizz doesn't care about her. They cared that she was stealing from them, that others would soon follow, and that they needed to nip it in the bud. So what did they do? they crushed the subject with an over inflated facade of a legal case. No action to collect will be taken, she will not be ruined, and you sir take other peoples problems way to seriously.

And since you probably have been waiting to see this.

Hail Satan my dark Lord and master!
or
Hail Blizzard my Dark Lord and Master!

While I don't condone game piracy, and this is a certain form of piracy, Blizzard is being rather extreme here.

She will never pay that fine and no one really expects her to. So what if it has an effect on the rest of her life - she must have known that what she was doing had a legal outcome. Stupid ***** painted a big bloody bullseye on her chest and Blizzard took aim and fired. Tough. If she hadn't been exploiting something that did not belong to her, she would not be fucked.

Wake up, smell the coffee, obey the laws of the land.

To put it simply - if it ain't yours then you can't fucking have it.
