Sadly, it wasn't a storming, but peaceful, if uncooperative, anti-facist protesters today managed to push themselves into the Television Centre to protest about Griffin's appearance on Question Time

For those not in the know, Question Time is a BBC flagship political panel discussion programme, and the leader of the British National Party, one of the largest far-right political parties in the UK, is due to appear on it tonight.

Many people, including high-ranking politicians and others inside the BBC, have protested against this, saying it "gives the facists credibility".

There's a short video on this link, as well as a summary of the protests

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8321157.stm

Will you be watching the Question Time programme tonight? I sure as hell am

I'll be watching only to see everyone run rings around Nick Griffin with intelligent debate. I loathe that pillock.

I think the protesters are all idiots, they are supporting the very thing they are against through trying to deny someone the freedom of speech, even if that speech is stupid, ignorant and racist.

Oh and yes I will be watching Question Time to watch the BNP's stupid policies get ripped to shreds when facing rational questions.

I most certainly will be watching. Those protesters are idiots though. Aparently freedom of speech means nothing to those people, and by aiming their hatred at the BNp they practically give the BNP the right to act like a victim in all of this. Disgusting.

I don't see the point in protesting, everyone knows the Lib Dems haven't got a chance of getting in, never mind smaller parties. Not to mention how everyone likes to go on about how much they hate the BNP and all that.

They're just not going to get in, and it's hardly gonna give them credibility because all(probably) their policies are shite, and I have a very good feeling that'll be highlighted tonight. Let them humiliate themselves.

I tried to make a comparison, to fully replicate your post humourously...but seroiusly...what can you compare to the guy who said "If you commit a crime, you're guilty"?

You know that bit at the end of Half Life 2, where Gordon suddenly sees the Striders approaching?

Question Time tonight, armed only with a crowbar.

I know what you mean actually, although its still a good thing that so many are against fascism. Personally im glad that BNP are on question time because it will draw them out and show them for the true racists they are! To ban them would give them an automatic win and would be against what the BBC is about, which is neutrality.

Lol, what do you have against idiocy Rush?
Incase you're wondering, no, I don't like Rush Limbog, but the BNP does seem worse than him. They're just trying to get rid of minorities. It's only arguable that Rush is rascist.

I'm kind of torn about this one. On one hand, he does have the right to speak his mind, but does he have the right to a functioning microphone (or any kind of sound amplification system)? There is a very big difference between the two, and that is a difference that I don't think is sufficiently defined in society.
The other problem is that he's also a man convicted of inciting racial hatred. I personally feel that BBC has too much prestige and legacy to invite a convict for political debates. That's not a knock on his political views, I'm just saying that BBC should have law abiding citizens on the show rather than convicts, regardless of their political stance. Maybe some other bigshot from the BNP would have been a better choice?
This should be highly entertaining to watch though. Nice to have a touch of the British accent to go with the right-wing style non-sense I usually get here in North America.

I agree that putting the fascists on the show lends them credibility, which is generally something to avoid. That said, if I were in charge of the show, I would put the guy on, too. I'd show him no mercy and the entire show would be heavily biased against him, but his presence will drive viewership of that show through the roof.
