I'm fine with tattoos and piercings unless they paint their entire body and get 1000 piercings all over their body. That is just too much. The other stuff like tongue splitting is stupid in my opinion. They are essentially destroying their bodies. It isn't art at that point but mutilation because of the damage and side affects of having those things done to them.

I hate 'em. I think they're ugly. But I'm not going to stop anyone from getting piercings or tattoos. They can do what the like with their bodies.

I don't have anything against it. Let people do what they want.

I do, however, find anything more significant than some tattoos and mild piercings rather repulsive.

I have a tattoo, Its total crap and a constant reminder of how retarded I can be, but that was the point from the beginning.

But I often wonder how many of these body modders would have still done it if prudes didn't exist, if people were just like "yeah whatever" and we lived in a world free of prejudice. It's our own retarded standards of the "body beautiful" that lead people to go the other direction or arsy versy as the case may be if the "trend" is headed that way.

But when all is said and done, I really don't give a cats arse what you do to your body, if it makes you happy then more power to you, but don't be a prude and piss on other peoples parades if they don't match up to your specific tastes.

This is a good tattoo.

Some of these are just plain stupid and serve no artistic purpose. Do what you want with your body, I'm all for that, but don't call everything art just because you're trying to seek validation.
That is frakking genius!

Some people need things like that to get attention. Let them cut, paint, and maim themselves.
True, but unfortunately for them the kind of attention they are getting isn't really the good kind. Often it's the freak-show staring kind of attention, especially if they are freak-show worthy. Everyone else who had stuff like piercings and tattoos done to them, but with moderation, won't really get that much attention because a lot of people get tattoos and piercings.

I don't understand the extreme branding, implants, or outrageous piercing (I love the back ribbon thing tho)
Piercing's I get why people are into it but it has always seemed like an inconvenience for the sake of fashion.

I have tattoos and love em but I hate the "tattoo for the sake of getting a tattoo" thing, I don't believe anyone should have the same ink unless they are tied together by it (not literally)

People can do whatever the hell they want, it's the reasons why they've done it that decide whether it's all good, or they're "making a statement" which I've never understood.

It seems the belly button ring phase has run it's course here in the east coast but you can count on any 16-25 yr old girl to have one.

Also people striving to attain the now infamous "sleeve" need to relax a bit, if you put some ink on your arm it doesn't mean you need to fill out the canvas with unrelated nostalgic images or those that get the same designs.

I'm all for peoples right to do what they want with their own bodies.

So I suppose yes, I am all for body art/modification, I do want a tattoo right below my neck, I have three piercings in my ear(although I rarely use them because I'm too lazy to wear annoying jewelry all the time) and I do think a lot of people who do have body modification of some sort look really good.

Although I do appreciate the un-modified, or the natural, look. Really I don't have much preference, almost anything can work on the right person to be honest. I don't think it's always attractive or never attractive, it always varies. I don't mind.

Been designing tattoos for friends and other people since I was 14 I think. I've been working on my own design for roughly 8 years now, as well, but quite frankly I've given up on hoping for it ever to be finished.

Not that I'll quit working on it, hell no, it's my masterpiece! But it'll probably never be "done" enough to get on my body.

So yeah, basically I love tattoos in almost any shape, size and style. As for other body 'art' or modifications, well, meh. I'm not particularly fond of it.

Piercings are ok. I generally prefer it not go beyond the ear or naval, though.

Tattoos are also fine. But, I think people shouldn't get like 90% of them though. Getting a tattoo for the sake of getting"a tattoo is lame. You know, "man I want a tattoo... I'll get like Satan on my forearm or something". Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. A tattoo should have some meaning. It should be extremely personal, and serve as a symbol for something important to you. I would get a tattoo, but it would have to meet that requirement to quite an extreme. Something along the lines of my child's name (I'll need a child first), the name of a deceased loved one (I hope I won't be getting that one anytime soon), the title of my first album, a symbol to do with my personal philosophy on life. Not something random I pick out from a big wall designed to look badass or some shit.

I've nothing against body modification of any sort, I don't find it unappealing or anything, as long as people don't go overboard bordering on absolutely ridiculous. And my threshhold for ridiculous-ness is pretty damn high, so don't assume I just consider anything more than say a nosering or a tattoo on ones shoulder absolutely ridiculous.
That is all assuming it does look good and not just plain stupid(don't confuse this with ridiculous).
I myself have a tattoo, covering my arm from my elbow to my wrist. Not going into detail as to why I got it done, but I'm glad I did. And I'll get the elbow to shoulder area done probably during fall or winter.
In case you're wondering what mine looks like, then heres a photograph of it.

And yes, that's an engine block repurposed as a table in the background. And yes, that's a jukebox. No, it's not an oldschool one.

Seeing as to how I have 2 full sleeves, my vote has already been pretty much cast.

There are a few different groups of body modification people:

1) The "it must be something deeply meaningful and symbolic" people. Those people are the douchebags, as they feel that their decision was well made while sneering at those people who modify their bodies for "no real reason".

2) The "I have no knowledge of body modification, but it looks cool so I want one" people. This is another large demographic. It's comprised mostly of rednecks and metalheads with tribal tattoos and giggling college girls.

3) The "this is part of my lifestyle" people. These are the people who are either involved in the industry, or people who honestly just want to change their body for "no real reason". What most people don't understand is that there are reasons, but they refuse to accept those reasons because they're stubborn, ignorant, conservative, or a mixture of the three.

I'm not big into piercings or anything else. Some tattoos are good, but those stencil ones come across as pointless to me. The only other exception really is lip piercings.

Some bits could do with some reworking (the ink for red is particularly bad in terms of how even it will heal), and some shading areas should be darker, but I decided I wasn't going to bother until I actually get around to getting the upper bit done.

It is done in the sense that there are no details to be added to the phoenix, yes.

The problem with body art is that if done badly and/or without thinking it through, it can look bad, sadly. Much like choosing the wrong clothes, but it's relatively easy to change ones clothes, undoing/changing body modification is a bit harder, though that really depends on what type of modification.

Piercings... I don't have a problem with them, if the wearer didn't go completely bonkers with them. Lip piercings aren't my thing, but I could see my wife with one in her eyebrow. (currently has 2 diamond studs in her left ear, and 3 in her right) As for myself, the only thing I'd like to try is wearing a set of these glasses:
http://news.bmezine.com/2004/12/14/pierced-eyeglasses-the-publishers-ring/

But, I've already been told that that's completely out of the question.

Tattoos... Again, no real problem with them. I've only rarely seen any tats that would be considered "obsene", but I have seen a few that were just plain ugly. (I'm talking to you, [REDACTED]... seriously, that "panther-thing" is ugly as hell. One thing to be drunk when you get inked, but make sure the artist isn't, too.)

I see. Still looks very nice in that pic, red could be brighter and I imagine you'll want touch ups soon like you said, but still looks awesome dude.
