Giving the plants better conditions is great, but I'm not sure if 'human rights' is the correct term, as they are still going to be harvested.

The plantation owners won't be happy about this.. Someone go get Henry Clay!

One day, a fly was in the barn, eating cow manure. He ate until he was stuffed. Then he climbed up a shovel that was laying against the wall. Once he reached the handlebar, he jumped off and flapped his wings, but he had eaten too much, making himself too heavy and consequently falling to his death. Moral of the story? Never fly off the handlebar when you're full of BS.
I'm confused... who flew off the handlebar?

That's incredibly stupid. Every living organism that's higher up on the food chain than producers rely on the deaths of plants to sustain their life.

There's no getting around killing plants. It's practically what they're there for.

Edit: Also, I guess 'clean air' for a plant would be CO[sub]2[/sub] saturated?
Indead, seeing as their respiratory system is the complete opposite of ours.
Not really, they still have the common glucose respiration going on, it's just that they produce more oxygen through photosynthesis.

True, I seem to have misspoken. It's just that plants synthesize their glucose through photoshynthesis, whereas humans require an external source of glucose. I was aiming more for the simplistic CO2 vs. O2 bit. I'm not a major biology nut if you can tell.

What people have against genetic modification is beyond me. I guess it's the whole stink against "playing god."

Granted, some of the things we do with it are quite cruel, like what we do to cows. But these are plants we're talking about, who gives a fuck? They literally feel nothing.

This is really silly and pointless.

I guess they're going to live only in naturally formed caves from now on? I don't think there are enough naturally formed caves for everyone :/

The basic goal behind it is commendable in my opinion but the implementation is not. We kill plants, such is life. Same with animals. It happens all the time in nature. While we should be careful about irrevocably damaging an ecosystem and the flora and fauna that live their, I have no problem with using it to our advantage. That's just me though, so do what you like with my opinion.

Yeah, we'll see how long their stance lasts when overpopulation really hits and we rely on genetically-modified food as a means to produce food very fast to eat.

Yeah, I'm sort of hoping we'll somehow manage to avoid the overpopulation issue though.
