I'm not a journalist so I'm not going to pretend this is an actual article. It doesn't fit well in the Religion & Politics board so I'm posting it here.

Yesterday, Friday September 10th, a bomb in a hotel bathroom was brought to (premature) detonation, giving the one-legged bomber superficial injuries. PET (Police Investigation Service) can't rule out the possibility of a terrorist agenda, as the hotel is very close to the most obvious terrorist target Nørreport Station. The explosion was so weak that the upstairs neighbour in the hotel didn't notice anything so I assume the bomb wasn't finished.

The man was caught in a nearby park where he was inspected by the bombsquad before being sent to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries.

As of now few things are certain as the police are keeping the media on a tight leash, so they can better investigate the case and possible accomplishes to the man. The man is apparently from north africa or southern europe. He speaks english and he had a gun in his hotelroom. He is being tried before a judge today, in absentia if the hospital won't release him.

We are being told not to be afraid but to be aware of potential threats and call the police if we see anything suspicious.

How would you react if this happened in you country? I'm still not afraid of terrorists specially if they are as incompetent as this guy.

Article in english. [http://jp.dk/uknews/article2180074.ece]

Update:
He is being jailed until October 4th for making a bomb with the intend to hurt people and for having a loaded gun and 2 extra clips in a public place. His first week and a half will be in isolation. On October 4th he goes to court again for the sentence and possibly to be tried for terrorism which could land him in jail for life. He refuses to give any information.

I live in Holland and we don't have a lot of terrorist activity around here, so I'm not very scared of them. However if there would be I guess I would be scared cause I live near a pretty big city and the Dutch police sucks donkeyballs.

This happens in my country pretty much every day. Well, Northern Ireland anyway.

A bomb went off near me when I was up there recently. Scary shit man.

Still, strange to see it on the continent. I'd like to know what the motive was.
Pretty sure the motive was "Blow shit up"

From Denmark as well, here, and I'm not particularly scared, though I live in a big city. I just think it's one HELL of a coincidence that the bomb was found one day before September 11th. But maybe that's just me?

That sort of thing happens all the time around here. Hell, a few years back it was rockets every day.

Fortunate incident right there, i guess it had something to do with those muhammad sketches you guys put out a while back.

I'm not particulary afraid of terrorists, we here in Sweden also had one guy who sketched Muhammad as a dog. All that happened to him was that some brainwashed teenagers failed to burn down his vacation home. They are on trial now i think.

Nørreport is a lot more busy on Fridays compared to Saturdays so if he is indeed a religious terrorist(come on it's what we are all thinking) and Nørreport was indeed his target, a Friday is the obvious choice.

Well, Denmark is practically just next door, so I guess it is almost the same as if the bomb went off here. And in both cases, my answer would be: Could hardly care less. Also, I would laugh at the terrorist failing.

Uuuh, don't bite Ethan. Just don't bite...

OT: Stuff like this in England only ever seems to be attempted in London, and that's 3 hours away from me so it's hard to feel much connection to such things (for me, at least).

Depending on who pulled off the bombing, it'd probably bring out the violent racist xenophobe in me. Or I'd simply go on with my life as is, using it as a talking point.

No, actually I'd definitely be pissed. You don't fuck with my country and people and expect to get away with it. I might not go racist xenophobe, but I reckon I'd join the army, just for the chance I might be sent to hunt some motherfuckers down.

That's assuming they were more successful than this guy. If I heard someone sort-of blew himself up in his hotel room, I'd laugh my arse off. I did when I read this.

But it did happen in my country. And the terrorists were incompetent, they did raise suspicions and stuff.

Still, that didn't stop the bombs from going off in a crowded metro station.

As for being afraid - that is exactly what you shouldn't be. Because, as cliched as that sounds, that's what they want.

From Denmark as well, and I've seen no discernible influence from this on how everyone acts. A guy with a pistol and an amateurish bomb could be related to the ongoing - if latent - gang war here, though the date would make a religious extremist plausible as well.

EDIT: Now Identified as a former Boxer originally from Chechnya, now living in Belgium. Could be a religious extremist, but his action might just as well be related to the political uproar and several murders of exiled dissidents from that region around the world.

From the OP: The man is apparently from north africa or southern europe. No sign of Arab ethnicity.

I'd say its a 95% chance of a muslim there.
I'd say it's a 100 % chance of a y-chromosome there as well. What's your point? The whole Muslim = Terrorist thing doesn't really stand up to reality. If he's Muslim, then he's a minority within that group, just like "criminal men" are a a minority among the group of "men".

Ah hell, I can't find the original wording right now, but Bill Bailey had a nice "news coverage" in one of his shows, went something like this:

"A terrorist had an unlucky day today when he went to the park with a bomb strapped to his chest. When he yelled 'Death to the infidel' and his device failed to explode, he went on to punching bystanders in the face shouting 'This will have to do!'"

I found that so hilarious, and I'm ashamed for linking something so tragic to something so hilarious xD Still, sorry for this rough outline, you get the idea ;)

Yeah i also live also live in Copenhagen and from my point of view this bomb was a great big package of fail. As you described the people living upstairs couldnt even feel it. I do not think they are any sort of professionals, because since when have Al Qaeda blown them selves up while taking a piss. Probably just some nutjob who got offended by the muhammed drawings.

And another apologist leaps to defend islam! Stop trying to make muslims into the new jews plx.

Not so strange really, ever heard of the Basque separatists ETA? They've bombed spain quite a few times.
