Yeah, but that's computer games. Computer games haven't matured in the public eye yet to the point where they're taken as seriously as film, therefore any boob-display comes off as simple pandering to perverts rather than something contributing to the artistic merit of the whole. Give it 20 years or so and things will change, but that's the way it is for now.Deshara said:We had a massive fiasco because a rated M game showed some side-boob. Maybe this is only in the USA, because everywhere else in the world is generally fairly happy to show a little bit of boob. But to be honest, even in American films I haven't really noticed any change, and I'm the type of guy who definitely would notice.
Actually, no. I had a couple other examples in mind, but that was not one of them. This kind of highlights my point.MrJKapowey said:Is that from Kill Bill?LetalisK said:[
To the OP: Because we've become prudes. Graphically showing the ripping out of an eye ball out of its socket it okay though, it seems.
Because of the "modern" backlash against sexuality in the media, and objectifying women in the media. I.E. feminism. For good or for ill, this change and many others are a result of the feminist movement.Kakashi on crack said:I'm going to get flame-spammed for this probably just for the name of the thread, but its a legit question.
So I've been watching a lot of old 70s-90s movies lately, and I've noticed something which I suppose is partially simply because I'm male, and partly because I noticed it. If you look at a lot of older movies from that time frame they have no problems displaying female breasts in a PG or PG-13 movie. Then you look at modern day movies, and its a demonized subject to show them outside of a European movie or R-rated movie.
So without getting into the psychological views, and all that mumbo jumbo on my perspective of this social change, I'd like to find out other people's views on this change. Why do you think movies began to avoid any display of a female's upper anatomy? Social change, political change, simply because movies changed?
Now before I get a ton of flaming about my interest in asking this question, I'm going to ask that people remain mature in this topic (to some extent, feel free to joke around), and would like to point out that I couldn't care less if breasts are shown in a movie as long as the director gets across their movie in a way that is realistic to the setting.

Not initially, of course. But eventually. Something about objectifying women or creating a generation of male rapists or the usual silly nonsense.

Doesn't sound like any feminists I know. Exactly the opposite, in fact. Keeping breasts hidden and shameful is usually the far greater way to keep them objectified and solely-sexualized.spartan231490 said:Because of the "modern" backlash against sexuality in the media, and objectifying women in the media. That has been happening for hundreds (if not thousands) of years. I don't see why we should stop now.FamoFunk said:Maybe because Women and women's breasts have been turned into sex objects and over sexualised.
