I've recently been giving a project to read a book that has not yet been made into a movie that I need to confirm with my teacher tomorrow.

All the books that I have are books that would either never get made into movies (for blandness), and some that have already been made into movies.

There is no restrictions except that it has to be a novel. Any suggestions for good books?

Just getting some attention to thread. So far I found Metro 2033. Didn't know it was a book.

Ender's Game could be a brilliant movie. The zero-g 'game' would be awesome to see, and it's got a pretty awesome story.

Illium and Olympus. Pretty much really fast paced intense sci-fi, yet you still get well over a thousand pages between the two. It's pretty well written and there are a lot of interesting characters. I thought about how it would be a good movie, but at the same time it would be like 30 hours long.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy. If someone makes a movie adaptation right it would be just brilliant, and it could rival movies like the Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings. But up until now no movie announced, though the rights for making a movie were sold a long time ago. Read them before they become movies!

Neil Gaiman's American Gods.
Gemma Doyle Trilogy (A Great and Terrible Beauty is the first) by Libba Bray.

To be honest, I can't think of anymore. Gemma Doyle Trilogy isn't what a lot of 21 year old men would recommend, but it's well written and interesting to say the least.
And Gemma Doyle Trilogy was actually slated to be a movie at one point, but it was canceled. xD

It has to be a novel? That's no fun. "Holidays In Hell" (PJ O'Rourke's travelogue of various unpleasant places in the 1980s, like Beirut) would make a great period piece for the Reagan years.

A good movie on a Wrinkle in Time. There was one I think, but it was crap.

Also Sabriel could be very interesting.

I think Blue Fingers could be a good movie. It was an interesting book.

Most of these are aimed more for children... I need to read adult things. XD

Discworld. While Hogfather and Going Postal (as well as Colour of Magic and one other that I can't remember) are movies as well, the rest is fair game. The night watch and witch books, The Truth, Reaper Man (my personal favourite), all available.

Bartimaeus trilogy, no films of that.

Or alternatively, Jonathan Strange&Mr. Norrell. Fantastic novel, but unfortunately also a novel marginally larger than Belgium, which may present a few problems in this case.

See any book by Carl Hiaasen (Florida based mystery, funny with a sick sense of humor)
Ender's Game was already said but it deserves another mention.
Did they ever make a movie of Farenheit 451?

Now I am just thinking about my AP Literature class. Give me a few minutes...

The Black Magician series by Trudi Canavan hasn't been made into a movie yet (I think). Its a pretty good read as well actually.

Fahrenheit 451 does have a movie. Ray Bradbury's stuff tends to have a movie. Even his book of short stories (The Martian Chronicles) was turned into a television mini-series.
It's a wonderful read though. xD

I can see why you're having trouble, Hollywood has been rather... prolific with their "adaptations" of books.

However, I'd have to recommend Bachman/King's The Regulators. It's one of King's better works that hasn't been torn apart and badly stitched back together in the form of a movie yet, as far as I know.

I think Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness" may qualify.
Although, Apocalypse Now is loosely based on it.

The Emperor series or the Conqueror series by Conn Iggulden. Emperor is about Caesar from his youth to his death and Conqueror is the same about Genghis Khan. Could be argued that the topics have been made into movies, but these books haven't yet, though the film rights to the Emperor series have been sold. The books are based on historical fact, though they often get shifted around to make for a better story. A listing of the changes made from history is included in the back of the book.

The Man with the Iron Heart by Harry Turtledove. Alternate history about if the Nazi insurgency post-WW II had been more efficient and under command of Reinhard Heydrich. A good book, and longer than the Iggulden books.

Band of Brothers. Oh wait...

Starship Troopers.Wait what? There is a Starship Troopers movie? I wonder why I didn't know that! Probably because they replaced the 'troopers' with Imperial Guardsmen, Dizzy is a girl and Rico is white.

Trust me, reading it won't hurt as the movie might as well be called 'Troopers.'

Wouldn't it essentially be a kind playing asteroids?

I would watch the hell out of that, loved that book.

The Dragon Riders of Pern

I've got a book called DragonWorld by Byron Preiss and Michael Reaves, it would work well for a lord of the rings type movie.

The Song of Ice and Fire series

What about My Side of the Mountain make it sort of an into the wild type movie.
