Hey all!

So recently, after taking a long hiatus from reading for fun, I finished Ender's Game. It reminded me how enjoyable reading can be (when not forced to read dull, school assigned books). However I have no idea what to read next so I turn to you, escapists. What books do you love? (fiction preferred but nonfiction is good as well)

Thank you :)

CHRISTOPHER MOORE

That is all.

Fine, he's a great writer that is incredibly witty. If you can't laugh at his stuff, then you have no sense of humor.

David Gemmell's Drenai, Rigante and Troy series if you like heroic fantasy. It's a lot of the same but it's so well-written and addictive you probably won't care.

The Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. Full of science and politics!

Hmm, right now either is good actually :) but with the upcoming pressure for finals maybe the fun/comedic would be an easier read.

Mind giving us genre preferables? Are you fantasy, horror, sci-fi?

Anyway, try The Green Mile by Stephen King. You'll need the complete pack, as the book is split into six different sections. It's short compared to King's other books and not as bad or graphic, and it is more meaningful than scary.

Hm. Okay then, for comedic/fun purposes, I'd say go with either the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Good Omens.

For something darker and more serious/depressing, go with either House of Leaves or Men Who Hate Women (or The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo depending on your region)

And for an added bonus if you're into manga/comics, read Kickass or Black Hole.

Read the rest of the Ender series and the Shadow series. OSC is working on a fifth book that will join the two series together.

How about you read my book? It's 20% more awesome than any other book on the market, 6% funnier than the latest Terry Prattchet, 114% percent less shameful than twilight, and OVER 9000% better-written than Eragon.

Oh, and I think a lady gets her baps out at some point.

I'd also reccommend:
A Confederacy of Dunces, by Johnathan Kennedy O'toole
Anything Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman ever did in the history of ever
TvTropes

I would suggest some of Clive Cussler's work if you want something adventure related.

My favorites are Plague Ship and Raise the Titanic.

EDIT: Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential is also a suggestion.

I'm not into cooking and I still loved it.
