When I am not in school or eating or sleeping or doing my homework or playing games or being on the Escapist, I read books. I've just ran out of books to read, so can anyone tell me if they found a good book they would like to share with anyone else?
I personally like horror, Stephen King mostly. I am "kind of" interested in classics. I'm reading "Frankenstein" from our school library. I used to like crime fiction, or action, but it got kinda drab for me. I don't mind reading children books, or nonfiction though. Any book you find to be great.

I recommend "The Last Vampire" series by Christopher Pike. It's my favorite book series. Read it! :)

There is plenty out there for you.

If you like King, get some Peter Straub and Dean Koontz. I've found that Jeffery Deaver is quite good as well.

Otherwise just re-read The Stand or the Dark Tower Series (or The Shining)...

I know I will.

Try HG Wells (The Time Machine; War of the Worlds) or Verne (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Around the World in 80 Days)

I found 20,000 Leagues to be a well earned classic, even if it does go overboard on the information.

Of King's Books:

IT for a creepy-ish story
The Green Mile for a short, less horrifying book
Misery for mindfuck shocks

Honestly, I've had enough of vampires, so unless its about hunting down the last vampire, Im going to just do the following.. BLAH! lol

The Inkheart Series is a great one for the book lover in everyone, but as a personal pride, id go with the Wheel of Time series.

It kind of is about hunting down the last vampire. A little bit, anyway.

John Dies at the End. (by David Wong)
There is some horror factor (I thought it was some fucked up shit), but it's also pretty damn funny as well. Give it a read if you can find a copy.

hmmm so many good ones. "citizen soldiers" about everyman experiences in world war 2. "the great short" to understand the worlds financial mess and how it got there. George Orwell "1984" about the orignial big brother, an all seeing all powerful government. the federalist papers (hard one) which will give you more explanation of the thoughts of some of the founding fathers on the constitution than your American history teacher ever will. being informed about your country is a good thing. and it's more than just junk food for the brain.

horror and gore is your thing, "flyboys" will tell you what few people will about the war in the pacific. lets just say one thing.....cannibalism

Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. A good fantasy series that is the least Tolkien-ripoff I've seen in the genre.

If you're into classics and are reading Frankenstein, I say go for Bram Stoker's Dracula as well.

Also, I'm a fan of George Orwell (Animal Farm, 1984) if you haven't had to read those for school. Both are quite excellent.

Stranger in a Strange Land.
Most of the stuff by Stephen King.
The Dune series.
The Safehold series (starts with Off Armageddon Reef).
Lord of the Rings trilogy if for some God-forsaken reason you haven't read it yet.

EDIT: Oh, and JPod.

How bout this book? Its a what if scenario where the black plague wipped out 99% of Europe and Western civilization along with it. And it shows how the world would have been like if that happened. Its been good so far.

If you mean specifically horror not really my taste so feel free to ignore the rest of this.

Jefferson Bass for crime novels mostly because Bill Bass DID the research on decomposition for all these books.

Classics, might want to try breaking out some Shakespeare it's amazing how much school taints what is seriously fantastic work.

Action; if you don't mind franchise fiction (specifically warhammer 40k) The Soul Drinkers and Grey Knights series are pretty good. Ciaphas Kain is more comic but has a tendency to use repititious language (maybe I'm just weird for noticing).

Fantasy; Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett are two of my favourite authors. The Discworld series is my favourite in the world, I love it.

Other names, Bill Bryson, Alan Moore.

You might want to look into The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart which is about a guy who makes decisions of what to do based on the roll of a dice. The Day Of The Tiffids is also pretty good.
