I think making an MMORPG out of Stephen King's the Dark Tower series would be an interesting outcome if done RIGHT!

On a trivial note, a Dilbert game based mostly around stealth would is an interesting idea. If one got Scott Adams and the people who wrote and did voices on the show to work on the game it could work if done RIGHT! I personally would prefer to keep to the Family Guy and Simpsons games' idea of stuffing as many funny comic/show related easter eggs as possible into the game to give those who like the comic strip or show a good laugh.

Also a puzzle game based on any H.P. Lovecraft story would be cool if done RIGHT!

DO IT RIGHT!!!

Like I always say, if they made a Back to the Future game RIGHT, it'd be groundbreaking. But it would be impossible in current gen technology (you have to figure in the paradoxes, different time zones, etc.)

Sin City. Good story, good art style, very graphic, and very fun. Good read/watch and I bet it would make an even better game.

Also, I wish they could make a game series based off of the Terminator TRILOGY. But unfortunately, these games need to be shipped out quickly to make a quick buck instead of having time and effort put into them to make them an enjoyable experience.

Its already been said but Dante's Inferno could be amazing. And since the game hasn't been released yet I won't begin to ***** and moan because it still could be an amazing game, I have high hopes for it.

As for the Divine Comedy itself it is one of the most amazing pieces of literary work I have ever seen.

The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks could be good if it was made in a style resembling Thief or Assassin's Creed.
Wow, someone else who's aware of this series. I'm only half way through the first book, but it's a very good read thus far.

I think an RPG based on the world of the Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko would be pretty awesome.

A Marvel Ultimate Alliance game based on Planet X would be pretty cool too. It's a crossover of X-Men and Star Trek: THe Next Generation. Would be worth it just to see the Borg attempt to assimilate Wolverine.

Finally, there should be Sri Isopanisad: The Game. Who wouldn't wanna play that?

The Percy Jackson and The Olympians series (very mediocre books) could be good, Brave New World might work.

I wouldn't mind a couple of Skulduggery Pleasant games. Come on, who wouldn't want to be a wise-cracking skeleton detective with a gun and magic?

number 1 the belgariad [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgariad] if done right as the OP says it would make for an awsome old school RPG.

number 2 the Honorverse [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_Harrington_series] if this series of books was made into an 4X type of game like Galactic civ or MoO it was be great imo.

in reply to the first few posters taht talked about the Gunslinger being made into a game. if they took the story from the first 4 books than id agree, but if the followed the whole train wreck over the corse of the last several books than lord no. maybe someone could talk King into doing the last several books over as a re-write for the game and we could get an ending to the series that wasnt pure shit like it is now.

I know there have been a few of these, but I would love to see a new Discworld game. The old point n' clicks were great and showed the humour and magic that Terry Pratchett is famous for writing. I would love to see an openworld Discworld game where I can travel the Disc as Rincewind. Maybe even an original story, written by Pratchett exclusive to the game. If I was a dev I would definitely be looking into collaborating with Mr. Pratchett on something like that. Imagine, you're Rincewind, travelling around the Disc on another crazy adventure; you're travelling Widdershins through the countryside and spot Death. HELLO RINCEWIND. Then in the distance you can see Ankh Morpork, you run towards it, you're walking luggage behind you. I mean, call me a fanboy (seriously, don't) but I'd love to see a good openworld adventure from the mind of the master himself. Screw Peter Molyneux, Terry Pratchett's the new king of this realm!
This would be awesome!

also maybe a puzzle / action adventure sandbox game following Sam Vimes and the city watch in Ankh Morpork. almost every book in the series has some action in the city and the amount of characters and side quests based on the books could be amazing if done well. Werewolf tracking system, assassinations, thieves guild missions, a hilarious level where you play as wee mad Arthur in a FPS Rat exterminating mission....

IT could be amazing... but i doubt it will ever be made

Oh but it should sir, it should! We, together, should push this game right to every devs door! We should get Terry on board! This game should be made for us!

the Horus Heresy books, it would be awesome to play as a space marine in a different setting, and the story has so much potential.
Ravenor could be nice too, playing as Ravenor and having the ability to take over minds is awesome.

Niel Gaimans Sandman series would be awesome, if done right. As would his American Gods.

I do believe Sandman is being made into a screenplay of somesort anyway. Could be rumours...
No it wouldn't. There's no possible way to translate Sandman into a game. It'd be like turning Romeo and Juliet into a game. Or 2001. There's nothing in Sandman to make a game from, so there'd have to be a massive amount of bastardization going on.

There was a script for a Sandman movie many years ago. It was horrifyingly bad. (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=2571)

There's a Death:High Cost of Living film in the works, which should be interesting (aside from the high probability of Shia LeBouf playing the leading man) and could potentially pave the way for a Sandman film. The problem is, there's far too much stuff in the series to fit into even a trilogy, so there'd either be a massive series of films (unlikely) or some major cuts. A Game of You would probably be the first to go, Worlds' End, Fables & Reflections and most of the short stories would go, which would be tragic as they add so much depth to the world.

There are very few directors I would trust with this film. You need someone who knows the material well, but is willing to change it so that the overall theme comes through in the film. Jackson maybe, or Del Toro. Although after finally watching a lot of his films, I reckon Ridley Scott could make a good job of it.

And not Zack Snyder. Never him. Dear god no.

Star Wars!

...

I agree with the Discworld ideas. The original Point n' Click ones were ace.

Also, a Harry Potter MMORPG is screaming to be made. If done right, it could be brilliant i think. Think about it, choosing houses in Hogwarts, or even being an adult, or having your character age, it could be brilliant. Choosing to be humans, goblins, whatever you want! I want this game.

And that Firefly MMO that we've been promised. I need that too.

I never understood why there's never been a series of Drizzit Do'Urden games. There's always so much action in those books, they would be perfect.

I would like to see a couple of RPGs for books like Harry Potter, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Fight Club.

What about a Kite Runner puzzle game?

War of the Worlds-Wells.Half Life showed the stunning possibilities of a properly rendered tripod.

Call of Cthulhu-Lovecraft.Are we ever actually going to see Cthulhu in a game.Yeah I know,'Dark Corners' nearly went there but didnt cross the finish line.

At the Mountains of Madness-Lovecraft

The Philosophers Stone-Colin Wilson.Similar to Lovecrafts mythos but with a storyline that lends itself to character progression.
