What books are in your collection that you would give up anything to see made into a movie or even a series. I'm already geeked that they're talked about turning American Gods by Neil Gaiman into an HBO series (but who knows how long that will take), but I would also love to see The Child Thief by Brom and the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston on the silver screen.

What do you guys want to see on TV or in theaters?

Just going to throw in a bit of a switch here:

Books that ARE being made into movies that for the love of god should NOT be:

Hyperion.

Apparently it is being made into a movie (It has one of those mostly blank IMDB pages), but the book is just far too epic to fit into a single movie. Somebody should have given it the Game of Thrones treatment and made it into a mini-series. An episode for each of the character's stories.

So... I would love to see an epic Hyperion mini-series.

Clans of the Alphane moon by Philip K. Dick.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clans_of_the_Alphane_Moon

It has hobos with mental delusion firebreathing lizards, a girl whose job is to bring accident-victims back to life by rewinding time, a sentient slime-mold that uses it's telepathic powers to offer relationship advice, and a main-character who spends most of the book trying to kill his wife with a robot!

I generally hate the filmatisations based on his work (Minority report can &&*8 off a cliff) but this one I'd be interested to see. It has one of my favourite depictions of political conflict, in which the main character has no idea what is going on and that very well depicts how that kind of thing is for a normal person.

However, no studio would ever risk a project like this in a fear they'd get accused for making fun of mental patients. Which the book does, but in a way that's not condescending or mean and it's towards the people rather than the problems they face, if that makes any sense.
And it has quite a lot to say (or rather ask) about the definition of "mentally sick" and how the definition of "normal" will change according the culture.

Also I want an anime based on the manga HayateXBlade. They already made drama CD's, here's hoping we will eventually get an anime.

I think the Pendragon series would make a nice set of movies. They were decent enough books, I'd like to see them as movies.

Dresden Files. Yeah, the TV series flopped, but that was the wrong format. And dammit, I need to see a wizard riding a zombie t-rex down the streets of Chicago!

The Strain Trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It's already written like a perfect television series.

I have to say the Sword of Truth series. Or at least the first two or three books. They did make a series, but they didn't really seem to be very concerned with staying true to the books. At all.

House of Leaves.

Dear god, please give me a House of Leaves movie. Nothing would make me happier.

EDIT: Or a movie based off "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk.

The Prince of Nothing series. It would probably only work as an HBO show, though. As long as it ends up on a screen, I'm happy.
