The steel remains and the Opal Cowen trilogy, there is 4 books that wasted my life I had to finish them because that's how I work but it took me months because they were so awful.

There are others but they have been mentioned already.

I believe no book should be destroyed, deleted or other wise killed, now you can disagree with a book but books are literature and culture and once you completely destroy a book you can never get it back. I do not agree with the satanic bible but it is people's right as humans to educate themselves on other cultures, cults and religions. Ok enough rant for today....glad i got that out of my system...

Not all books are special and not all books are culturaly signifigant, I burn all the history books sure that would an awful lose but I'm pretty sure if I took out supernatural romance novels it wouldn't affect our future as a species.

I feel very unpopular for having legitimately enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men... I don't really think any book should never have been written, and to those people who put down the Bible, destroying it wouldn't have stopped the spread of Christianity in Rome.

Ok seriously why the hell are people putting down 'to kill a mocking bird', 'of mice and men', 'the grapes of wrath', 'the catcher in the rye', 'animal farm'? Those books are awesome, maybe they just don't appeal to certain people's tastes. I am very disappointed. -_-

The Beach by Alex Garland

I just had to read this for my A2 coursework. If I never see another fucking copy again it will be too soon.

And The Great Gatsby.

People aren't going to like what I have to say, but you asked.

The Lord of the Rings

The books that "defined" high fantasy. Tolkien created a format that no one has any balls to deviate from. It seems that every fantasy author (generalization, I know) just accepts the world he created as a rule for high fantasy. Everywhere it's elves, humans and orcs. Hardly ever do I see anyone try anything different. I spent so long trying to look for gems in the sea of Lord of the Rings clones that I gave up. Everyone tries to emulate it. Tolkien is the reason I can't read high fantasy anymore.

Hate me all you want. It's my opinion and you're not going to change it.
And then we wouldn't have the Lord of the Rings movies, and that would suck.
If you're looking for fantasy that deviates from the standard, try the Orcs books, by Stan Nicholls. Admittedly I haven't read a huge range of high fantasy, pretty much for the reason you cited, but they're significantly different from LOTR.

Both. World War Z. I am fucking sick of zombies being everywhere and WWZ is a huge reason for their pouularity these past few years.
The reason for its influence was no doubt the fact that it was an excellent book, which was both well written and imaginative. I think thats enough to justify its existence.

We're supposed to be past that. Besides, this is 11 million people we're talking about. At some point, people would've gotten wise. Hell, my country is a perfect example of going past your fear of death. Their actions are inexcusable and will always be.
Ah now you are devolving into a "my country is better than yours" argument, which makes you look even more foolish and arrogant. Like I have said countless times you can't "get past" an innate human reaction. When somebody is getting mugged and nobody decides to help the victim (something that is quite commonplace here in London) that is the exact same thing that the German people did. It may not be morally right, but it is not an excuse, it is a reason. A human's instinct to avoid harm usually overrides their impulse to do what is morally right. Also, people in your country are not immune to this.

I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is that they managed to overcome the fear of death and pretty much take back the country, more or less. The same can be said about Germany. Retaking what was yours is all fine and dandy, but those people didn't take back what was theirs, they commited genocide against an entire race. There's a big difference between attempting to survive and killing 11 million people for fucks sake. And wasn't there a resistance movement against the Nazis in France and Germany? How did those people manage?

Seriously, just read the studies. I am extremely tired from revising and cannot be asked to argue with you any more.
If you provide them then I'll read them

Think about the person who wrote that insignificant book. Books can outlive their authors by a long time and every author pours a bit of him/herself into that book. Destroying that book would erase that person from the face of the earth, no-one will ever know it existed and no-one will care. A human has officially passed into nothing. For me that is a depressing thought.

Also, the matter of how much a book is worth to humanity is way too subjective.
And some times they are just drooling on a page and calling it art, millions of people vanish into nothingness everyday why should it matter if some terrible author was never discovered? can you honestly look someone in the eye and tell them that the world would be worse off if no one had ever heard of Stephanie Meyer?

Why would anyone wish to eliminate a book from existence? The idea of other mindsets and ideas scare you?

Twilight is a given, and all of the books that were "inspired" by twilight.

But for me I'd have to say ( if it counts) Macbeth by Mr Shakespeare. I love Shakespeare's works, but Macbeth is so boring, but maybe having to study it for 3 years in a row made it that way.

Okay, but don't rage at me for this. I personally wish the bible wasn't made. yes, you heard me. I mean look through history and see how many wars have been started over that...Just my opinion, i'm not really against it or anything just....
The Bible not existing probably wouldn't have changed much at all. Sure, the motivations would have been slightly different, but people would still have found excuses to commit these atrocities \.
