Ulysses and À la recherche du temps perdu ofcourse. One would be incredibly slow paces with an insane amount of detail and the other would be rapt and dreamlike, unfocused.

Dune.

And I mean a good movie, not that piece of crap they called a movie.

Really did you see it? I could go into all kinds of details but I'll focus on the most retarded money waster, they made blue-in-blue eyes of spice addicts with cg. WTF is that? They could've just worn contact lenses.

I didn't think of it when I read the book, but thinking back on it now I would have to say House of Leaves. I don't think it would actually make a good game without the right people behind it, but it would definitely be the most, bizarre, twisted, and eff'd up game.

Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' or 'Blood Meridian' would both be stunning games. They're already making them into movies.

William Gay's 'i hate to see that evening sun go down' would make a great T.V. series about the South.

Christ, you know what? This all goes back to my obsession with having a GTA-esque game set on the Cumberland Gap in 1864 in rural Tennessee. With Bluegrass soundtrack starring Gillian Welch, the Can Kickers, and a couple of banjo hobos we pay with whiskey.

Most of the books I've read are the Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler sort of novels, so chances are that some very similar games have cropped up - Elite US military unit, fighting off hordes of Russians/ Arabs with a toothpick. On occasion, the bad guys are neo-nazis, so really you could just look to the MOH games.

I just realized I didn't put my choices in.

Mine would be The Black Tattoo by Sam Enthoven and Truancy by Isamu Fukui.

The Black Tattoo just screams MOVIE! with its quirky charm, fantastical environments, and great characterization. Truancy... well, you'd have to read the book to understand where I'm coming from.

Well, there's this book by a guy called Derek Landy, called 'Skulduggery Pleasant'.
There IS a movie planned for about 2010, but I think there should be a game of it. Because that would be awesome.

Several of William Gibson's books would translate well into adventure games, using technology like Dreamfall and Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit.

To be honest, I'd rather have anything good I've read stay as the written word. Movies have a way with destroying my concept of character designs and places as well as tampering with the plot and/or descriptions to suit the director.

If done right...

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison would make an awesome movie.

I say Blood Sucking Fiends by Christopher Moore, of course any of his books would make an awesome movie.

There is an Enders Game movie in the works, as well as a game based off the training simulator.

At the Mountains of Madness (classic HP Lovecraft) would make a brilliant movie. If the rumors are true, it's already being adapted by Guillermo Del Toro, but I think it would ALSO make a truly excellent Survival Horror game.

You know what's funny? I was reading one of the books (I forget which one, maybe Pearls of Lutra) for the umpteenth time the other day, and I thought to myself, Hrmmm... if done right, this could be an interesting game!

Any one of the Discworld books. (again, would have to be done right)
Re-do Eragon, make a sequel out of Eldest, and a threequel of Brisingr.
The Artemis Fowl series. I'd love to see No.1's spell list (assuming he's playable...)

The Brothers Karamazov (although it might be too long) and Fahrenheit 451 need to be movies.

Already done. Hogfather, Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic have been adapted to TV films/two part mini-series to great effect. Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic were amalgamated into one feature, starring Tim Curry, Sean Astin and David Jason. Oh, and me. Okay, I was an extra, but whatever. Reportedly, the next in line is Going Postal. Sam Raimi has the rights to make a film based on the Wee Free Men, but apparently because of scheduling problems hasn't done anything with it yet.

Also, at least three computer games have been made of Discworld, all point and click adventure games.

I think the Eisenhorn series by Dan Abnett would be excellent movies. All very cinematic. Lots of action and visual spectacle that would translate well onto the big screen.

I have read an excellent series called Kingdom's Dawn by Chuck Black. It's a three part book series and it is one of the best medieval fantasy book series I've ever read. It doesn't have any magic in it but it's a really solid character development story with some really cool action scenes that would work well in a movie. If done right, it could rival Lord of the Rings for being a great fantasy movie.

I also think the Book of Joshua in the Bible would make a great war epic movie. What Joshua and the Isrealites did was one of the most successful and amazing military campaigns in the Bronze age. There have been lots of movies about Moses. It's time there was a continuation of the story that gets past escaping Egypt.
