Okay, so with Borderlands 2 just over the horizon, I thought I'd ask which character class you guys are liking the look of and which you'll probably play as first.

Me?

Siren all the way, baby! :D

Love her look and her skill set is looking damn sexy too.

My fiancée, who I'll be playing splitscreen coop with, loved Brick in the last game and she squealed like a little girl when she saw the Gunzerker in action, so that's sorted :D

Least interested? Axton. He just looks like another run of the mill soldier, nothing about him shouts out to me, so I'll probably leave him well alone.

So, how about yoy guys? Hyped about the game?
The first thing I think when I look at this is "can only females be sirens and only males be everything else in this setting?". I liked the original borderlands but I guess I was hoping they would overcome that or alternatively just make 8 character models. 1 male and 1 female for each. Its not like the original gave them much character anyway

Anyway, I found the siren to be my favorite class in the original so if none of the mechanics have changed Ill probably stick with it. Im not really hyped about the game. I enjoyed the original so Ill probably get this one too but I have to wonder if were doing the same dance all over again. Trying to find that same vault which turned out to be a really bad idea in the first one.

I like to express my hatred for this game.

Doesn't make me a troll, as I don't mean to egg anyone on into a fight.
Then go and create your own thread expressing your hatred, where you can promptly be ignored. Don't come into a thread to just state a contradictory opinion. If you don't think that's trolling then you're just a dick.
And if you're not egging anyone on? Don't reply to anyone then. You "expressed your opinion". Move along.

OT: I really don't know this game. In BL1 I was a Siren through and through, although it seems like Maya is a lot more support based, but I'm willing to be open minded. It's either her or Zer0, who everyone is obviously going to go for, for good reason.

I feel like the promotional material is missing those behind the scenes with claptrap videos. Yeah bringing that back would not make me sad.

Salvador, most definitely. Playing as Brick I was let down by the rocket launchers in borderlands being crap, hopefully dual wielding them will be much more beneficial in number 2.

Okay you need to go back to my OP, get the subtle jab at the gameplay, and come back.

You do realize I was comparing it to an MMO in its gameplay and such department right? Not literally.
Hundreds or more players online at the same time in the same game environment is gameplay aspect that defines MMO's. This game cannot be compared to them as it has only 4 players max. Borderlands is a straight-up FPS with some RPG mechanics (levelling and loot drops).

As for bland, you must be confusing it with Cowadooty or dozens of other chest-high wall shooters.
No what defines an MMO nowadays is grind, grind, no story, grind, quests and grind.

I feel like I'm butting my head against a wall here with the lack of understanding of the point.

None, if I wanted to play a bland MMO with shooting mechanics I'd find one with more than 4 person multiplayer at least.
Imagine you make a thread about a game you love.
Then, somebody comes into said thread, and starts slagging off this game and drags the thread off topic.
What would you think about this person?
You'd probably think he's a bit of a ****, right?

Now, I've seen this happen enough times to get used to it, but have some consideration, please. If a thread comes up about "games that haven't been released that you hate without playing", go wild, but this thread is for people who are looking forward to this game.

In my group of friends I played as Brick in the last game, interestingly I named my berserker (or was his class called 'himself) Salvidore.
The Gunzerker has already been called by me.

A mate of mine clued me into Borderlands 2 when he was putting together a team for the co-op mode. As he'd already bagged Zero (my first choice too) I chose Axton as his fire-support role is one I am used to playing with my clan in other online games. Other clan members have since signed up taking Maya and Salvador and the four of us are eagerly awaiting release day with preorders already in place.

I am not, however, quite ready to joy-puke my face off. That seems a tad extreme.

I'm split between Salvador and Maya.
But the more I think about it, Salvador sounds cooler. Did you guys know that if you dual two of the same weapon (say, ROCKET LAUNCHERS :D) then you fire more accurately? However, if you dual two different weapons (I'm thinking launcher or shotgun... or heavy MG... or fast-firing repeater... SO MANY OPTIONS!!) then you get a boost to your damage output. There's even perks that can increase your weapon's fire rate while dual-wielding, so you can effectively triple or even quadruple the the size of the big numbers flying out of your enemies when you shoot them. :D So Awesome!!! Okay, yeah... Gunzerking all the way. :p

That's quite interesting.

Someone managed to spreadsheet dual wielding huge guns.

Impressive :D

Depends completely on the classes skill types and weapon preferences. I also won't be playing it co-op, so I'm hoping they're not all supportive ones.

Don't know when I'll be getting BL2, but I did like Borderlands. Got it for like 10 ? on a Steam sale. And I played it a couple of times when I was really drunk. There are not too many games that go well with that.
