As a fan of the original, I'm still waiting for reviews. My issue with it is they are only adding one new element and no new weapon classes (not sure if thats the right word, I'm talking like Shotguns and Revolvers, not a model or manufacturer). I mean that was always the fun was getting the awesome weapons. If I already have an electric rocket launcher or whatever in the first game, getting it in the second will just not be that exciting. I just feel like they missed so many opportunities for different types of guns and stuff.

Off the top of my head they could add elementthrowers (like flamethrowers but not just fire), grenade launchers (most would be arc projectile launchers and they could even be effected by grenade mods), and crossbows and for elements they could add Ice (really surprised they aren't), Fog (would be sort of like a smoke grenade), shrink (lower armor, smaller target), and growth (higher armor, larger target).

And those are just my more reasonable ideas. Borderlands has always been a bit out there so they could do crazier stuff no problem. I mean they could have a flower element that has flowers grow out of them or a mutation element so they get extra heads to make crits easier (although modelling for this would be hell). Or they could add a weapon class that is like a slingshot. Those ideas are silly, but I don't think they would seem that out of place in borderlands.

And the new classes kind of bother me. Somebody has a turret again, and that assassin guys invisibility sounds a lot like Liliths ability. Although I will admit, the duel wielding looks like a great idea.

Hopefully I get proven wrong. I really enjoyed the first game and I think the second could be just as good, but I'm worried that Gearbox forgot what made the first game so fun. I will wait for reviews and what not before I buy it.

People really wanted more enemy variety though, the repetition in the first came from samey enemies and boring quests. While I imagine the quests are going to be just as boring, your going to be shooting at a lot more different stuff during those quests, which is definitely what I wanted.

Borderlands basically had no story, you start out looking for a vault, a shadowy figure helps you look for a vault, you keep on looking for a vault, you find a vault and it's a big letdown. As much as I absolutely adored Borderlands, there's just no way to create a worse story, hell having an antagonist basically gives Borderlands 2 a better story from the get go.
But different looking enemies don't make a different enemy, if you fight them in the same way they will not ease the repetition... that was the basic problem of the game, you had plenty of enemy models but they all did the same thing.

As for story... well B1 had a great mystery setup that made you believe there is a grand story awaiting, sadly that was all a lie.
Now they have thrown the mystery away and going for the antagonist thing, which can work just as well if the character is interesting, but he isn't, it's just dime a dozen pompous baddie.

Maybe all this will be fixed by the time they release, but from what they have shown so far things aren't progressing as they should.

I have probably 500 hours put into the first Borderlands and everytime a friend goes and buys it I beat it another 2 times.

So not only am I buying it but I have the Ultimate Loot Chest almost entirely paid off, the guys at gamestop are so jealous that I'm getting it. Only 3 people at my gamestop are getting it and 2 of them are me and my roommate cuz I put the money down for him.

I loved the first game (well, more the first half than the second) but i have high hopes for Borderands 2. Im just looking forward to the variety in how the guns look and function, while Borderlands did it quite well they all looked similar, the weapons in Borderlands 2 look like hey put a lot more imagination into their designs... *picks up minigun assault rifle* yeah, i can do this

I have it preordered, but I don't have anyone to play it with. Everyone that I know who is getting it has an xbox, and I have a PS3. Right now, I'm most likely going to be playing solo. Anyone with a PS3 looking for a group?

I am so stoked. I'm going to mow down hordes as a Gunzerker! The only problem is that my Borderlands buddies and I had a falling-out over the summer. If anybody is seeking an extra player, I'll be more than happy to oblige. Just bear in mind that I'll probably be out of town on launch day.
