When I first saw an article on Borderlands in Gameinformer, I found myself drawn to it despite the fact that it was a FPS - and I have never been interested in nor comfortable with those; I just find it a bit disorienting and confusing.

But I digress, the point is that there was something about the game that drew me to it and made me want it, and consequential articles that I read about it made me even more interested.

Interested to the point where I ended up purchasing the game shortly after it was released, and started playing it - but got bored as is usual with me and games, and set it aside. That was end of October, and just recently I've picked it back up again, getting a chance to play it on co-op with a couple friends of mine and I... am addicted.

But as much as I find it entertaining and whatnot, I also have a feeling the game hates me. Unless there are others out there with as horrible of spawning luck as I apparently do. <.<

One of my friends even told me that he never saw a badass enemy when he played by himself, but whenever he plays with me he shares my luck in having 47497540735 of them spawn (bit exaggerated, but it sure seems like it!)

This one time while running about skag gully to level up a bit (and just to shoot skags because I find it amusingly fun) I ran into about, uh.... 9-10 badass skags (plain and elemental) and a slew of alpas. <_<;

Yeah well fuck you too game, only good thing is that I ended up with a lot of the elemental class skill artifacts as drops. Of course... not like I can transfer them to my other files with the appropriate classes.

Baaaah.

*shakes fist*

I need more people to play with too - it can be so boring solo!

I just got bored of the game and stopped playing after reaching level 20. Now it's on my shelf collecting dust.

I'm sure it won't be long before I end up getting bored with it again myself.

I have a bit of info into your problem there. This game has what I call a "multi-player focus" it's MEANT to be played multi-player, making things a bit more aggravating on people like yourself and I who prefer single player. (I'm guessing you do from the descrip you have up there).

See, Borderlands has this I call it elastic programing. If you're alone, it kinda pulls back on difficulty and spawning and thus on XP and drops and loot as well.

However, get another person, or another 2 or 3 in it with you and it gets all hyperactive, so it ramps up the difficulty with MORE spawns, tougher enemies and thus a heavy dose of loot and weapon drops that are all higher stats.

The problem with that is if you have the natural difficulty set high (like on hard perhaps?) then when other people get around, it'll become THAT much harder . . . and the lower the difficulty you set the game on the worse the drops and loot you get. As well as the less people playing at once the worse drops and loot you get.

It tries very hard to make you feel BAD for doing it solo. Like it's deriding you for it.

Personally I've been damn determined to get through every quest solo for exactly that reason . . . it seems to think you're weak if you go solo and I'm determined to prove it wrong. (yes . . . I'm well aware it's an inanimate object and won't suddenly change for me having done everything solo, I'm speaking more metaphorically)

Borderlands is one of the few games where it actually felt challenging for the first bit. I beat it 4 times and did the Island of Dr. Ned. I just got paid and will buy the other two expansions soon enough.

I have enjoyed my Borderlands experience... if you want a challenge ramp it up to hard and head to Old Haven... :)

Borderlands is my all time favourite game. Me and my friend played it through together, got all the DLC together, and we have nearly 100% of the trophies. I see no problem with Badasses and Badmuthas spawning a lot. I enjoy the combat enough to like it when we got a large slew of enemies.

What character do you all play? I'm a Mordecai fan myself. He's the only character I play with really. At level 61 he's a bit of a demon.

I liked Borderlands for the first hour or two. Then I realized the game has no variety and a very limited weapon selection. Basically, it's outclassed by Diablo 2, and since I'm not all that fond of FPS games, I gave up about 2/3rds of the way through. I can see why someone would like it, but it's too much grind and too little substance for my taste.

I personally roll a Roland spec'd for ammo regen because I usually run around with a machine pistol that has a 95 clip and does 117 damage... I just unload bullets everywhere :)
