edit: the more I look at it, the less I like the yellow font.. The contrast it makes with the red background just doesn't agree with me perhaps. Silver/ Grey font would be better in my mind.
Really? I'd think the yellow would look better if it looked spray painted on instead of the block-style letters they are currently using.

OT this game looks as though it will kick ass and chew bubblegum

I liked the video I just watched on ign - is there an online multiplayer?

it looks really sweet!
It has, much like Diablo 2, been built from the ground up with co op in mind. Combined with consistent characters, as in your level 12 sniper is a level 12 sniper no matter which server you're on, it shall provide many an awesome sunday night in for myself and others.

As for the art, that's pretty sweet. Really comic like, pretty nuts and sums up wuite nicely what's gonna happen to every bullet sponge like him you come across.

Reminds me of crackdown for some reason...
It uses the same comic-book like style.
Crack down was designed to make you feel like you were a comic book superhero.
I guess Boarderlands it taking some of thats with them.

I think it's quite an ugly cover, and to me, Borderlands just looks like an attempt to ripoff the fallout universe. I'll reserve my judgement til the reviews come out and see what people say about it, but I'm still more interested in Dark Void, over Borderlands.
It's inspired by the Mad Max universe, which the original Fallout was also inspired by, so of course there'll be similarities. Or have we reached the point where any game set in a post apocalyptic world will be instantly deemed a Fallout ripoff?

As for me, I love the cover. It's very comic bookish and I fucking love comics.
What I meant was... that everything i've seen about Borderlands it looks like almost a direct ripoff of fallout.
Nah Fallouts more involved, borderlands looks more like a setting to fight in than an actual world if you get what i mean

I love it. I might actually see if I could get a poster sized copy of it. Really vibrant colours and freaky art.

Well it will stop the mothers of all the 12 year olds from buying it =).

They might not know what the little M means but they sure can see the art.
Except mine of course.

On topic: This has to be the most unique box art I've seen, so hopefully it catches many uninformed gamers eyes.

Persona all over again...

I SO hope they're not gonna have to change anything to that cover, it is simply perfect!

I bet the first version had crimson liquid instead of beige,
until someone realised something like that would never be allowed. :)

87 bazillion guns, I like the sound of that.

I hope the soundtrack is similar to the song on the trailer, bout time a game hand a good funky electro soundtrack rather than the usual stuff.

How much have you actually seen? I'm not attempting to bash you, but it really isn't much like Fallout. The setting is vaguely similar, in terms of the outlaw/lawless-ness vibe, but in terms of gameplay it's very different. Borderlands was built as a shotter with RPG bits layered on top, so there's no dice rolls involved during combat. There's also a massive focus on co-op gameplay, and perhaps even more focus on loot. They've got a procedural generation system for the guns which picks different bits like barrels, grips, stocks etc. At the last count they said there was a total of around 17 million different combinations.

A good box art sticks out of the bunch, and makes you interested in checking the game out.
By those standards, then this box art is simply AMAZING!!!

But I'm not getting it until I see reviews and gameplay videos, though. It seems like mindless shooting in a open-ended world at this time, and that doesn't validate a purchase while it's at full price, in my book. A good story or another distinguishing feature is what's lacking at this time.

I'm pretty excited about this game, it looks great and I loved fallout and diablo 2 so should be right up my ally. Its box art is pretty different though, I'm not sure if I like it or not, I like that its different and that it has plenty of attitude but I'm not sure how well its going to sell the game from a marketing point of view.

So yea what do you guys think of it?

edit: just for those who haven't been following or know much about the game, its a fps/rpg with a big focus on multiplayer and playing online with your friends as much as playing by yourself. it was inspired by mad max and diablo (by blizzard)and aparantly there is 'millions' of different weapons available due to some upgrading/customization system.
That box art makes me want to play it. When is the release date, and is it like Fallout 3 or Diablo 2 [Is it a FPS type RPG, or is it turn-based?]
OT: That's some pretty shweet box art.
Yeah this is gonna be my desktop background for a few weeks.

From what I've seen of the game play videos this game is gonna be a real time fps with a lot of guns and a level system.

Ok that's gonna rock. I don't like how you have to choose a character though, I'd like to create my own. But online 4 player co-op is going to own, and make up for it.
I just hope that they allow more than one person to be a character in co-op. I wanna be the hunter guy!

It kind of goes with their "Less serious, More fun" attitude, with the use of primary colors and the cell shading predominantly displayed, as well as the rather amusing pose of the raider guy that hints "This is more violent than you think, buddy". I like it, it's different.

Yeah, I'll either be the tank class or the soldierish class.
Unrelated: Doesn't this seem a lot like Rage? The graphics are a lot like Rage, the idea is sorta like Rage. I don't care, these both look god :D
So long a wait to play this though >:[
Oh shit... I was thinking this WAS Rage...

I would've put that on the back of the box. It's really quite bad for a front cover in 2009. They use an in-game model, which I won't condemn them for, and the overall idea is really quite cool. And it's quite fitting. But it's executed badly, it doesn't hide that it was done in photoshop in under 30 minutes. It even uses a font that I actually recognize.
