Minor gripe here, but what the fuck kind of game in 2009 has no shadows on its character models?? Very lame. Still looks great fun though.

As I understand it, Borderlands is a cell-shaded FPS which is set on another planet and not after a nuclear war. As such the link with Fallout 3 eludes me.

It's a wasteland populated by mutants/aliens.
Everything has a sort of "put together by stuff that isn't normally used for that" kind of feel.
Your on an epic quest for fame/money/curiousity.
The characters have just arrived to this new, unknown, and exciting area.
You kill fuckers and loot their dead bodies.
You upgrade your character through the gaining of XP.
First Person Perspective.


Granted the similarities are kind of a stretch but they are there and the games are bound to be compared, also when Rage finally gets released it's going to be compared to both of these games so get ready for that.

It's not like Fallout 3. At all. The only comparison is the wasteland feel and the rpg elements. Other than that they're completely different, they don't play anything like each other. Why people keep comparing them is beyond me.

There's probably people comparing oranges and space shuttles out there.

Pfft one flys, the other fights scurvy. Either way they have super powers >_> XD

I don't know what to make of Borderlands. I know it's been getting a lot of attention from pretty much everyone, but it just seems to have gone under my game-radar. Although saying that, my radar has been on the blink for a while.

It seems to me that Borderlands is an Open world FPS with rpg elements, while Fallout 3 is an rpg with fps elements(which can be negated through VATS). It's like comparing Fallout 3 to Farcry 2. Besides, Borderlands isn't set in a post-apocalyptic landscap, the planet is just shitty that way.

Champions online is NOTHING like City of Heroes! Apart from from being superhero MMOs made by the same company, they have nothing in common!

Seriously, Fallout 3 and Borderlands are both shooter/RPG hybrids with a wasteland setting. If you don't think that's enough to make them comparable, you should stick your thumb in your eye.

I can understand the Fallout comparisons, but Borderlands seems to have that wacky and colorful feel that a lot of people, including myself, feel FPS's are lacking in, so I'm rather interested in it.

I was under the impression so far that borderlands = fallout 3 in most ways.
Borderlands even brags about combining aspects of RPG and FPS. Sound familiar?
