The only issues i had with borderlands was that online doesn't work as it should and it got boring. There's practically no story, no motivation to beat it.

I never had that problem, I ran it with XP and win7 and it worked fine, Sounds stupid but have you tired posting on borderlands forum/googleing?

But about the game, I would only really play it if you got freinds who want to play it with you, Because just joining with randoms hardly ever works (They run ahead steal loot, Prob have played the game 8 times etc)

Its great fun with freinds, Okay single player, And pretty shit random server joining, I think theres an escapist borderlands group somewhere if you want to play with people who arent idiots.

I played it through with my dad and we had great fun, Dont give up :)

Never any problems on my windows 7 machine and maybe I'm one of the few but I played the game through solo and co-op and had about the same amount of fun on each playthrough. I enjoyed the game a lot actually, though the best part of the game is the General Knoxx DLC because not only was it very fun and often challenging but it was HILARIOUS to me...

I think people were expecting it to have a great story, because it was an rpg, Honestly it was great fun to get away from all the serious story crap that most rpgs do, And the whole idea of "choice" rpgs seem to like doing.

EDIT: Oh, Yeah, Heres the link to the borderlands group if you get it working: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapist-Borderlands

I just got bored of the repetitivity of it in the end, I owned it on the 360, it was definitely worth playing though and the Steam sale gives it at a great price.

I returned the 360 version pretty quick when it came out because I bought it without considering that online play meant dealing with xbox live. I'm enjoying it a bit now though thanks to their ridiculous sale.

Worth 10 bucks at least.

edit

I'd also suspected when I returned it that some of my problems with it came from having to wrestle a controller for a fps game. Turns out I was right. I always take mouse and keyboard controls for granted until I'm forced to do without.

I played Borderlands for 40 hours and didn't encounter any bugs.

I played the 360 version though, which eliminates the possibility of the startup issues you mentioned. But know that the gameplay itself is very unlikely to have any big bugs or giltches.

I say give it a chance though, it's a good fun game with solid shooting mechanics and some awesome weapons and locations.

hahahaaaaa okay here is what has happened.

regardles of fix attempted, game did not work. attempted reinstall (another quarter day of my life gone). game did not work.

attempted to install windows 7. twice (a full day of my life) failed both times. went for a clean install. (quarter of a day). clean install works, but has deleted borderlands. re-install borderlands (quarter gone). borderlands doesn't even splash up. just fails to even load.

. . .

then, for no discernable reason, kapersky deletes steam.exe, and won't allow me to get it back. uninstall steam, which deletes borderlands. reinstall steam. downloading borderlands again (likely to be done about 3am)

what the hell? WHY ME.
