Can't agree with any of these people saying "if you're playing alone then no". It's still a blast solo. And it's CERTAINLY worth $15. I can't believe we've reached a point where people are saying a great game isn't even worth $15.
Well one of the main reasons for me that its worse when you play alone is that you get worse loot >.> And getting loot in Borderlands is borderline addictive to me, so of course I want to run into good stuff more often, when me and my friend are playing we usually play with 2 strangers for a bit just so we a better chance at getting epic, super, awesome fantastic guns

Thats really what Borderlands is about though, its a loot fest which is great fun for some, it sounds like you played it by yourself, in which case I dont blame you for thinking its boring because its true, single player Borderlands is horrible :'(
Yeah, the majority of the time I spent playing Borderlands was solo. I played for a brief period with a couch buddy, neither of us were enthusiastic about it. People are into different things, the only way the OP will know if the game appeals to he/she is if they give it a go.

Ehhhhh, Borderlands tends to lead towards the grindy side of town, you'll probably kill countless identical which are either incredibly easy to kill or next to impossible to kill depending on your level.

Yes, Borderlands is a great buy at $15. Definitely go for it if you have at least 1 friend that can co-op with you, it's great and challenging. It does have some grind, but not overkill.

If you have a few friends to play it with, go for it, it's pretty fun, but single player is kinda boring and lackluster.

If you have buddies, yes, it isn't the greatest game ever made but I bought 3 copies of it just out of the sheer fact that it isn't a army wank shooter. It is a blast to play if you have friends but pretty average by yourself, will not however say it isn't fun by yourself. I had fun with it when I ran my SP character by myself.

I played Borderlands all the way through and most of the DLC by myself. I don't understand why people say it's boring by yourself.

I don't regret getting the GOTY edition, and I paid £33.

It's okay with friends, but quite honestly even as a fan of dungeon crawlers i found it boring. Enemies, level design, and quests were all bland and uninspired (Enemies were designed pretty cool but the diversity was minimal).

Oh and the backtracking. The game did NOT need to be open-world at all- a linear, Champions of Norath or Diablo thing would have fit this game better.

And it has the fatal mistake of being an RPG with boring leveling- the talent trees were honestly really boring besides a few fun skills. Same with the guns- other than some really unique ones (Self-replenishing 200 round assault rifle was my favorite) they tended to offer just minimal stat boosts to damage, accuracy, etc.

And with what is probably the worst story i played that year, there was just little motivation to continue. I only beat it cause I bought it new...

So no, i wouldnt buy it.

I was going to say no, because it's routinely a daily deal for half that, and then I looked in your profile at where you're from. I'm so sorry.

Anyway, I have to agree with everyone who says it's fun with other people and less so by yourself. I did enjoy playing parts of it alone the first time through, though, just not really after that. SecuROM only applies to the first two bits of DLC and not the third and fourth or the base game by itself. Steam automatically downloads all of the ones you own, but I don't know if there's any way within the game to selectively activate only the ones you care about or something, because I specifically didn't buy those two for that reason.
As far as I know, the version that comes with all the DLC included doesn't have any SecuROM at all...That's what it said on the Steam page, anyway...Still, I don't know how accurate that is is the problem.

I find this [http://steamdrm.flibitijibibo.com/] to be the most helpful thing for answering questions about stuff like that. When all else fails, just go to the "big list" section of there, search for the game in question, and see if anything turns up that bothers you or if it's something you can live with. The store pages aren't always completely accurate or up to date, but the people who maintain that site/Steam group do a pretty good job of staying on top of things.

Considering it's my favorite FPS game of all time (unless you class Metroid Prime 1 and 3 as FPS) then yes.

For the gamer who likes typical FPS games like Bioshock, Half-Life 2, COD it becomes difficult to recommend. Borderlands is a game that doesn't take itself seriously and is just Diablo 2 in first person. If that sounds remotely appealing, it's well worth it.

I for one play it exclusively single player. The game is challenging this way but rewarding as well. The DLC is beyond unnecessary...akin to DLC on a game like Skyrim. The core experience will give you more than enough.

The GOTY version does not have the SecuROM features. At least, it didn't when I bought it during the summer sale for $7.50.

As for whether it's worth it or not, depends on a few things.

First, are you into dungeon crawler and loot games? (Like, say, Diablo 2.) If yes, then you may love Borderlands. If not, you almost assuredly won't.

Second, do you have a friend you can play it with? The single-player can be fun, but it's often better if you have a "decent" friend to play it with. I.E. A friend that won't be an ass while playing.

If you answered yes to both questions, then yes the game's worth that price. If you answered yes to the first question only, then it may be fun for a bit, but you will grow weary of it.

However, I must add a word of caution. Gearbox really mucked up the PC build of the game. The controls can be a bit wonky, there's a lot of discrepancy in the mouse acceleration, and the POV and screen aspect ratio are really screwed up. If you do get the game, do an immediate Google search for the community made patchers and bug-fixers. Trust me, you'll thank yourself if you get them.

If you have trouble finding them, PM me and I'll show you where to look.

Ok I paid £15 6 months ago for borderlands..... and i would never, ever buy it again it lasted one day in my house before I got rid of it.
The controls are clunky, the menu system is terribly congested, there are so many weapon combinations that it soon becomes a weapon customisation games with repetitive shooting bits in between, the hub-based missions are again repetitive and the plot is paper-thin and completely trivial.
This is my opinion of the game so please no hate but i wouldnt buy this game, but its your choice
