So here I was lah-dee,dah playing as Zero and having a grand 'ol time until level 27 when OOF, I was tired of playing a sniper in these games. A quick switch over to Axton and I was beginning my adventure again.

And then I realized how annoying Bullymongs are.
And then I realized how great the turret is.

Fast forward to level 36, adhering to a turret-based bunch of skills and my Axton is loaded up with a turret cooldown of 5.962 seconds, loaded up with 50% accuracy, rocket volley, shield, sticky, a total deployment time of 40 seconds, and an extra 8 shots per burst. Sounds great, right? Wrong.

Turns out the game refuses to allow your skill cool down to dip below 10 seconds, or perhaps that's just the turret skill. Follow that with the True Vault Hunter playthrough wherein the very first Bullymong crushes the Turret almost instantly, leaving me all alone in this cruel unforgiving world and I wonder-

Gearbox, why you gotta halt my cooldown progression? I was so excited.
(Or is it just me?)

I would say in the name of balance, a turret that rapes face for 40 seconds and cools down in 5? You could constantly throw that thing down and never have to fire a shot or throw a nade again.

They should have obviously thought of this before adding in a reduce cool down perk but nobody is perfect.

I have been known to drop two turrets, throw a slag multi grenade and the go hide until the screaming stops.

I don't have the two turret thing but I sometimes do the same. I usually just shoot until I realize I am getting swarmed, I then throw the turret and carry on fighting OR just throw the turret and run like mad ... I don't even engage them, I just sprint on through and drop the turret for free EXP.

With my builds I just do the top skills, I think the furthest down a tree I have been is 3.

I couldn't resist the lure of two shielded turrets so I went all the way down. I'm working my way down guerilla now so I can get extra shots, accuracy and rockets on two shielded turrets. I may just stop shooting altogether.

My commando is only level 8, but with my Gunzerker I'm now able to recharge gunzerk before it even runs out, so I am ALWAYS gunzerking. Been that way since level 26, so I hardly remember what cooldown is.

Wait, 5.962? How the hell did you manage to do that?

That's how.
Base cooldown is 42 seconds.
35+25+25.8 = 85.8
100-85.8 = 14.2
42 x .142 = 5.964

As for the total deployment time, I had to time that myself with a stopwatch, so it's AROUND 40 seconds with 37-38 seconds firing time if I throw it down directly in front of me.

I personally went down the Guerilla skill tree when I played through. I could deal with only one turret if that turret had rockets, extra bullets, laser sight, and the extra barrel that shoots slag bullets. So, slag bullets combined with all of the above=Massacre of epic proportions whenever turret is thrown, even on True difficulty. Now I can only imagine what will happen when they raise the level cap enough that I can deploy 2!! of those monsters.

From what I can piece together from various other bits of the Internet, it seems that "+100% cooldown rate", for example, means "your ability bar refills twice as fast", not "100% of the time taken for the ability to cool down is removed".

Yeah, the turret is pretty crazy. A fully specced Guerilla turret is just insane. Heck, often I'll just drop it behind me while I'm passing through and watch as the XP rolls in while I'm half a map away. It's also awesome at dealing with some insanely annoying enemies, like the Varkids.

I so need that relic and class mod in my life. Right now I have a mod that gives me +3 on resourceful.

Geez, and before the game came out everyone said Zero was overpowered.
Zero is overpowered. Sniping in this game is sick. There are, however, situations where sniping is not viable and he is human in those.

My friend is working on a shielded full guerilla. We will then compare which one is sicker.

The turret is a must for fast moving enemies that are hard to hit. I don't even bother aiming at Buzzards or stalkers anymore. I just drop turret and give them the finger.

Phaselock come in very handy in True Vault Hunter mode. But I Still have yet to make it to Sanctuaryt. I cannot beat the evil pirate guy with all the fire. If he does not get me his mates do.

I snipe a little with Zero, but I have all my skill points invested in melee (think it is the Bloodshed tree?).

I freaking love Axton and his turret. In the lead-up to BL2's release I was certain that Maya or Zero would be my first character to 50. Go figure it ended up actually being Axton.

This is my build [http://talent.87bazillion.com/2/commando.php?50555150015005015000002000000000]

I focused on maximizing my turret's duration, damage output, and durability while giving myself moderate damage output and durability buffs. I primarily use Sniper Rifles. When I find a group of enemies, I deploy my turret between them and myself. Once my turret slags a target, I go for criticals with my sniper rifles. With this tactic I've been able to eliminate most threats before they're able to do very much damage to my turret... so it's been working real well for me.

My turret's cooldown is somewhere in the 20-second range, which though I'd like to get it lower than that... I can't complain. I'm able to get most spawns down during a single turret duration, and can usually deploy it again by the time I get to the next spawn.
