I only use earplugs at work, wich are made of yellow foam. I guess yellow is kind of a unisex color.

On the same theme as ladies earplugs; Ladies razors. They work exactly the same as a mans razor, just more expensive. To which I say; "The Fuck?"
? No they don't. If a woman borrows your male razor (even like once) then it'll be blunt when you get it back.
I used my ex-fiance's razor all the time and it wasn't dull when he used it. *shrugs*

Personally I hate the color pink and would rather have something colored blue so all this pink crap doesn't really make me want to buy it more. (I know my avatar is pink but I like the quote)

a similar thing happened with black-gel headphones. they got replaced with a cheaper hot pink variety for some reason.

so, like a real man, i bought them and put them in my MP3 player and saved a couple bucks.
That was hella funny dude

My dad uses many coloured earplugs for work in public places and there are complaints about pink ones for when you sleep? Something is wrong here...

Thanks for the replies, all. Made my morning.

Am I the only one that thought this was completely incoherent?

Let's see.

So OP is complaining she feels inaccurately represented by marketing that seems to believe they can sell that specific product by appealing to a stereotypical generalization. "Women love pink".

Surely by how revolted and aggravated the OP sounds, she would never stoop to their level by purchasing said ludicrous item and thus confirming the marketing strategy as valid, even if they are the only ones available...

And yes, I bought them.
...Oh...

Alright, somthing a bit less stupid: dog-tags. It's a little thing, but it still irks me. I consider anyone who wears them to be repping the military in a small way, but when you wear them just to look cool, I just personally think it's demeaning to those actually from a military background. I shake my head in shame when I see somebody like Lindsay Lohan walking down the street with some on, among other reasons.
Ohh... So it's ok for you to stereotype and generalize people? Delicious hypocrisy. Marketing something pink because it's for women it's wrong, but if someone uses a metal plaque as a necklace they're clearly soldier-wannabees... It's entirely impossible they just like the way it looks right?

While it does seem to be completely pointless to make a bunch of earplugs that are just pink and nothing else, why do you hate these so much?

Sigh, to all the people complainging about "fashion" rubbish.

If you don't like it then dont buy and and stop complaining in public because quite frankly...WE DONT WANNA HEAR ABOUT IT ><.

Their pink, so what? Who cares? It's a global stereotype that pink is for girls usually.

And worst of all...you bought them and STILL went on a RANT about them....dear gods (yes plural) -.-.

IF you buy it...you have no right to complain about it!

Like I said, they're pretty much the same model of earplug, so I bought them anyway, because I ran out of the previous brand I usually buy. I don't see why they couldn't have had both brands on the shelf, but they didn't. This one just replaced the other for whatever reason.

I'm just voicing my opinion. I don't really see it as complaining, because I know things like this will be unavoidable, and complaining here won't change a damn thing. But the level of idiocy in this particular item just caught me off guard. It also made me think of other things in "fashion" that I don't agree with, hence, I wanted to hear other opinions on the subject.

It may just be me, but I've outgrown the "because it looks cool" frame of mind in what I wear. I use muted colors because stains don't stand out as much, and I don't buy brand shirts unless they're in a bargain bin. I also don't see the point in saying "Well it's superficial to think someone who wears that is superficial", when it's quite clear some show off their "status" with whatever big designer name or bling they're wearing. Is it not superficial to like something over another just because of how it looks or because it's mainstream?

Does it make me better than them that I don't? OF COURSE NOT... but it's my right to have an opposing opinion, so take it or leave it.

And besides, I'm just making conversation. I don't care two bits about fashion, nor know anyone that does.

Yet you associate pink with homosexuality. /sarcasm

I don't think anyone would seriously believe you dislike homosexuals because you dislike pink...

I don't understand why pink is classed as it's own colour. It's just pale red right? So why doesn't pale blue or green have it's own name? Or am I missing something?

Actually, that would probably be totally badass.
That would add a humiliation factor to your death. Being shot by the campest weapon ever.

If a teacher corrected your term paper with a pink highlighter, would you burn it?

I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this yet, but I used to work on an oil rig and the safety techs loved for us to wear pink ear plugs because they could easily see if we were wearing our required hearing protection even from a distance. It made their jobs easier.

If you're doing something that requires earplugs, you're probably doing something so manly that whatever color they are isn't going to matter.
