Emperor Bulbax in Pikmin!

Though, looking back, I must say that when I was 10 it was lovely to play a game with an optional final boss. Also, this was back in the days of no achivements so there was NO reason whatsoever to ever have to fight him :)

I don't know if this count's but someone gave me a free copy of Assassin's Creed last year and I was all excited when I tried to play the tutorial I got really pissed. Haven't touched it since.

megaman X2 sigma final phase, to be honest this is more of a "without using the secret power", that means taking his HUGE hp pool to 0 without the shoryuken

John Cena in WWE SmackDown! vs Raw 2006. Honestly, facing him in a First Blood match is Hell!

300 Bulldogs won't do it. 50 Reverse electric chair drops won't do it. At least 30 shots with the WWE title itself won't do it.

But one chair shot will.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Steel Cage main event in Legends of Wrestling 2. The game never tells you how to get out of the cage. I hit my finisher at least five times and my opponent was out. I'm literally between the ropes ready to leave and my guy stops. I laid the smackdown all over that game's candy ass in rage. Also that game sucked.

The last boss of Infamous. His attacks hit as hard as hell and a single slip up is the end of you 50% of the time but luckily when you find out how to dodge everything it becomes easier (although still hard).
Let's not forget the insane timer.
There's no timer in InFamous. Are you think of Prototype? That boss battle is hard but doesn't fit into this thread because he never gets any easier when you learn something... hes just fucking impossible all the time. (seriously the only way I beat that guy is to spam the strongest attacking in the game and begin a war of attrition until one of us died.)
The way I found to beat him was to just to run around the area firing off the megawatt hammer and then whenever my health got low to find a place to drain some energy. Rinse, repeat, and dead.

Ares, from god fo war 1, untill i realized that i just had to accept the lack of speed in my thumb and lay the controller on the table and tab it like crazy with my index finger whenever our blades clashed.

As for elizabeth green, i just blasted her with the directional tentacle rape mutilation move (can't rememebr name, only critical mass attack which is directional) ran to a side alley and ate whetever i could find till i had critical mass again, and went back and blasted her..

#3 Colossus XVI (Shadow of the Colossus) Reason: anyone that tells you they did it without looking up the strategy is lying
Well go ahead and call me a lier, but I'll just say you're full of it :p

I kid, though I actually did beat it without a guide. Speaking of that boss, though:

The last Boss of Shadow of the Colossus. I honestly spent about 2 hours just trying to take him down. Then I found out you had to shoot another weak spot from his hand, instead of doing it the way I was, which was leaping hap-hazardly from his hand to his chest. I'm an Idiot.
I always jumped o_O never thought to shoot his hand.
EDIT: Wait, FROM his hand. Tired. Read that wrong. Still shows that I never thought of it...

The spider in Darksiders, Silithia I think, was a pain to figure out, that's the first and only boss that I've had to watch a video to learn what to do. I was relived that alot of other people had the same trouble, but it's simple once you know what to do.
Oh, yeah, that boss is an annoying pain in the ass.

In Assassin's creed 1 (yes, that game had Bosses, if you can believe it), there's this Templar at the very end who is an almighty (pun intended) ***** to fight. You literally have to have split second reflexes, otherwise you WILL lose atleast 3 blocks of life. Problem? You ALWAYS walk into the fight with TWO blocks.

So after dying 25 times trying to kill him, I just siad "Fuck it" and started Running round him in circle, slowly re-gen'ing 3 more life blocks, at which point I could afford a few more mistakes and proceeded to beat the God out of him. By the end, I still had Half a life left, though to be fair.

God, that game was HARD. Makes you wonder why they turned AC2 and Brotherhood into such Pussyfests....
If you're talking about

Al Mualim

I'm not going to lie, I never really had a LOT of trouble with him...

Now, for my own two examples:

The bosses of EVERY Megaman Zero game. First time through each, I always got my ass handed to me. After that, though? I can completely destroy every game.

Also, although it was still a royal ***** even after learning this, I found that the boss of the Dragon Age DLC Golems of Amgarrak is a SHITLOAD easier if you use the switches that appear when things go red. It instantly kills the skeletons.

To bad you can only do that during part one -_-' that second part is always what got me...

The Frost titan in Kingdom Hearts is unbeatable unless you think to use block. I, having always relied upon dodge roll, was at a complete loss until I figured that out.
Actually it's not impossible. What is the one and only skill that can reach Ice Titans head? Ragnarok, and I beat Ice Titan using nothing but it! : D And you can guess it took EXTREMELY long, but I did it and was proud! \o/ I never use Guard/Block in videogames if you don't really need it...

No not him. He was positively Easy for some odd reason. I mean that there's a Templar guy right before him. I think it's right around when you meet the Kings of both factions and then you fight a LOT of dudes who whittle your health down and THEN this Templar Mo'fo "duels" you? I can't remember the specifics.

... Oh... yeah... still didn't have a lot of trouble with him. But, for the record, 90% of the time I pick up games like a fish picks up swimming. I.E. like it was bread into my system.

A little tip, during the fight with all his dudes, always counter, and when you see one of the guys doing some sort of idle animation, take a swing at them. The combat system is hilariously simple.

Keep on your toes and you'll enter the fight with him with near full health.

Yeah, I REALLY liked Assassin's Creed 1's Combat system. I thought it was the best combat of all the games in the series, cause it had a lot more emphasis on the risk and reward system........and by that I mean it didn't have the "Press 1/Up to NOT DIE" button like AC2 and Brotherhood did. That ruined the combat a bit, since now there's no more risk.

Although to be fair, I'm still enjoying Brotherhood cause you can take the Meds off of your quickbar, so that they can ONLY be used through the radial, but I NEVER use them in combat. I now it's challenging again. I literally couldn't get through an area without hiring Mercs.

I remember a boss in Raptor: Call of the Shadows (It's an old Shoot 'em up) with a boss in it that I could not for the life of me get past, THEN I discovered that what you need to do is equip one of the turret weapons and just fly around it in circles and you'd barely get a single hit. When I found that, it was almost insultingly easy to kill.

Actually I was talking about the boss from Prototype right there. Specifically, I was noting why he does not qualify for this thread. As I stated above, the last boss of Infamous isn't really that hard. Once you learn his moves its easy to dodge like hell and slowly chip away at his health.

Infinity in Enchanted Arms.

He just keeps coming back and it seems like you're doing something wrong, but then the game is like,

"Nah, just fucking with you. Here, use this ability we alluded to way-back-when that you forgot about."

Gi Nattak in the Cave of the Gi,FF7.
At the time I did not realise he was undead, and that a phoenix down/x potion would stop me having to repeat it 4 or 5 times.

That SSBM challage where you are up against both Master Hand and Crazy Hand at the same time. My old tatics was using Pikachu thunder and I nearly defeated the both of them as well one time.
When Brawl came out and hand the same challenge but this time I realise that Captain Falcon had that powerful upward leg attack. Within a minute or so later, his legs work had defeated the both of them so easily. I decided to went back to Melee to repeat the same thing just to finish them off again once and for all.
