we've all had them, the bosses that you curb stomp so hard that you think they would be insane to get back up.

Only for them to get back up and kill you.

so tell me, What games have you played where you fought a boss atleast twice, and the first time was simple, only to fight them again and they curb stomp you.

Mine would have to be urban reigns The monster, AKA Golem, first time its 2 on 1, not that hard, just gotta work together, but later you fight him agian, and its still easy, abuse his legs and he goes down, the third fight with him though, HE WILL AND DOES kick you to the curb,

So what bosses do you fight over and over again, (diffrent times) and later they actually beat you?

I would say Seymour from FFX but then i realized he only kept coming back because Yuna and the other were to stupid to perform the ritual required to keep him dead.

Maybe your rival in every Pokemon game ever made, seriously, screw that guy.

Edit: Come to think of it, I never lost to the rival, so maybe
Balder from Bayonetta, the dude just gets right back up and you're literally powerless to stop him

Has anyone ever played the Megaman Battle Network gameson the GBA?

In certain areas that are not revealed in the game, bosses that you beat literally come back to kill you, and they come back even stronger every time you beat them.

It truly is terrifying to encounter a boss you previously beaten that is now so much stronger and packed with new attacks that you get an unexpected Game Over.

I'm surprised no one has heard of this gameplay mechanic. Now that I look back this is quite an ingenious replay idea.

That would be probably Vergil from Devil May Cry 4... I really have no idea how many times I had to fight Dante's brother... once, twice...then like three times and the third time it was just ridiculous. Being the Immortal Dante, I actually had to be very careful before making a move or Vergil will lash out his sword into me with his swift moves, like flashing about and even has Demon Form.. you can't hurt him in that form. Unless you do it yourself but he'd just run about getting you at the sides so might as well delay it is all...Thanks for the Topic!
Now, this is just my opinion - and I'm just making this post because I can't immediately think of a boss that does what the topic says - but ummm...doesn't having a hard time with Vergil make sense? He IS, after all, Dante's no-nonsense brother with a sword that could stand up to Greyfox. Doesn't that sort of make him, you know, on par most of the time?

Damn it, Ninja'd! But yes, HIM! I still haven't beaten him the third time. Of course I haven't played FFX in years.

Oh god where do I begin.

Zettai Hero Project. Well, it's not difficult, so much as fucking annoying. Like, if every misquito in the universe formed a gigantic talking combination of Tidus, Flonne, Collette, Nia, Beiber, and Jonas fucktards level of annoying.
Etranger. Fuck you, Etranger. Fuck you and your pink fucking outfit and your stupid blonde fucking hair and that idiotic fucking clock necklace. Fuck you.

And fuck your Bizzarro earth counterpart who's a fucking seal. And why the fuck do you help yourself pull a submarine out of your ass that will always throw the bombs I need to beat you on the other side of the fucking map without enough time to get to them before they explode, you fucking whoreface.
I fucking DESPISE children, and this game is one of the reasons why.

The next one is kind of cheating as well. The Psycho Gundam. In Gundam Vs. Zeta Gundam, the thing is a complete pushover. Literally all you have to do is stay behind it. Then it comes back in Gundam Vs. Gundam Next Plus and shoves it's giant finger laser so far up your ass that you can't feel your spinal column.

There's Vergil in Devil May Cry 3 (though admittedly I have Special Edition, so maybe I just suck). If you have played that game, you know why.

And finally, every boss in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Khezu in particular. When I fought him in the KITTY Felyne Chief's quest, I beat that fucker on the very last try. By the way, I had full Kirin armor at almost maximum level and a fucking fire bow. Gunner armor in MHFU wasn't THAT bad... Was it?

Multi stage boss fights don't annoy me, really ... it's the ones that you beat down to 1hp, and then defeat you in a cutscene that pisses me off.
What's the point of even having the fight if the "writers" have already decided you lose?

Same here, but he's easy once you get the rhythm of his attacks. Honestly, I never had a problem with bosses in a game, my deadliest opponents are Demonic spiders (see T.V. tropes, I don't want to link it for fear of rage) cazadors in fallout:NV are currently the bane of my existance

demon's souls.
2 is just cheating.

and in a curious twist, lame lurker form the same game.
I got stuck on seoerate servers whilst aiding others, so I had to fight him 3 fucking times in the same runthrough.

There's this one part of the .hack//G.U. games where you're fighting Alkaid in a tournament.

I guess the fight was supposed to be difficult.

If you knew what you were doing, the fight was not difficult at all.

I absolutely destroyed her, but then a cutscene came of Haseo struggling against her and losing badly.

Umad bro?

Yeah, I hated ZHP too, but that was because it seems that 2/3 times where I'd try and standby my psp, it'd turn off instead and I'd lose ALL MY ITEMS. And it only every happened with that game. I think NI was just screwing with us there.

I'd say wally from pokemon emerald, just because it's my most memorable loss. See, I figured I was near the end of the long dungeon before the elite four, so I didn't bother healing up or curing all my pokemon of sleep from those damn loudreds. Then the guy who I've beaten 4 times now comes along and kicks my ass while I'm still trying to wake all my pokemon up. Yeah.

A Hermit's Cave
KOTOR - made the stupid mistake of not quicksaving before final fight with Malak, incapacitated me when I needed to kill him about twice more... promptly smashed my head on the keyboard (for obvious reasons)

Wasn't that hard a fight as it happens... grenade, FL, run away & repeat =_=

Digression: at the opposite end (sure this has been done to death) are we agreed that AC2 effectively had an anti-boss fight?!

The exact opposite happens to everyone who will play demon's souls The vangaurd or the giant dragon thing after him will kill you the first time, but after the tutorial fights they are really easy.

Try fighting Azazel in Tekken 6. So fury inducing that I cannot play the game anymore.
haha very true - tekken always follows 4 or 5 fairly simple opponents with massive combo-using, laser wielding monstrosities as an excuse for longevity, very annoying

Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid is possibly the most stubborn villain ever. He just never accepts losing, it seems! The fights aren't hugely difficult, but Liquid just seemed to get up after each beating and ask for more, yelling "SNAAAAAAKE!" after each loss, and rage-chasing after you.
