The Giant hands playing the drums that you fight against in Ocarina of Time; I can't remember what temple it is so I was unable to find a name - cause I can't remember that either (lol).

Any boss that is just a pair of giant hands; plays drums; and fights you at the same time is awesome - and just plain shouldn't die. Cause, BODILESS HANDS PLAYING DRUMS?!!?!!? How awesome is that!?
Shadow Temple. I remember because I was never able to beat that boss :)
Thanks, I found out his name; Bongo Bongo. XD

Shadow of the Colossus. Those poor roaming giants!
This is the reply that i was waiting for when clicking on this thread. Glad it came up so quickly.
Totally agreed and seconded. I felt bad about killing pretty much every boss in that game.

The Masked Man from Mother 3.
Reasons under the spoilertag.
The Masked Man who got in your way all game was none other than your brother, Claus, who was kidnapped by the Pigmasks after the fight against the mechanical dragon. He dies in your arms shortly after the battle.
And then you pull the last pin, kill the last of the fairies that helped you all game, and destroy the world. Way to go, hero.

People have said it, and I will repeat it. Andrew Ryan, he died trying to help.
Even if he doesn't count as a boss...

Been said before, I totally agree

MGS3, killing The Boss made me feel really bad as you are not really enemies as such.

Also, I'm gonna have to go with Girardot from SC3 (chronicles of the sword). He was one of your few true allies in that game, and you kill him (technically strife kills him, but you incapacitate him...)

The Boss in MGS3.

Even sadder when you find out why she wanted you to kill her.

I'm sorry man but personally, I hated the ending to that game. This rant isn't aimed at you but I've just been meaning to get this off my chest.

First of all, this is the woman who caused the whole damn problem by handing nukes over to the big bad Volgin. Then the next time you see her....she is wearing a jumpsuit that even a James Bond henchmen wouldn't be seen dead in whilst riding around on big white horse. WOW. I just saw that and thought 'bullshit.' I mean I know MGS has never shyed away from outlandish villains but this is the game that is 'soo realistic' that you have to constantly go in and out of tedius menus to change camoflauge and feed yourself and then pulls that ***** with the unicorn out of a stormy jungle.
She is repeatedly turning up, kicking your ass and destoying your weapons...and we are just told to accept that she is so awesome. But why? Are we ever really given a convincing explanation as to why she is this super soldier?
Further, we just get told that Snake and her are really close. Closer than we can possibly know. Well, okay are they like mother and son? No, no you cant possibly know how close they are so dont even bother ask because you couldnt possibly understand. So they're close because..you say so?
And then..theres the ending.
Now, if you enjoyed this and did connect emotionally then I guess mabye you saw something I diddn't but this is my experience when I played it.

So, all you've seen all game is green/brown jungle or military bases. The main gimmick of the game throughout has been camoflauge and yet the Boss (who is teh greatest soldier EVAR111) has been wondering around all day in luminous white.
But it turns out that all along that was because she KNEW that the final battle would take part in about a 100 meters square of white dandilions, probaly the only place in about 1000 miles where that camo would come in handy. Bullshit!

Then you go through a very average boss fight, we defeat her and the mother of all cutscenes begins as all MGS cutscenes do with the sad music and all the BS dialoge that goes on and on and on about how she was actually a great soldier and patriot.
Now, mabye its because I'm in the Army but I just couldn't swallow it. I saw the MGS2 ending and though I couldnt follow the end, I still thought it was reasonably well done and the MGS1 ending is one of my favourites of all time. But MGS3 just goes on about how she really loved her country sooo much. I'm sorry but if your soldiers that great then they dont stand by as some maniac nearly brings about World War 3 and you dont just hand them over to the enemy. 'Oh but the Russians wanted a scapegoat' Well we have established all ready that the US government in this game is shady so why not find some other scapegoat, why wonder woman?
Also, I dont why it happend here and not in the previous games, but after getting sucked in with the leaves, flowers and luvy music I suddenly got sucked out of the game. Basically my thought process went like this. 'Aw man, thats so sad and the music, the setting and...wait a second! That setting is ridiculous, the music is just the same ten a penny shtick hollywood always plays over the american flag and I'm being manipulated.'

I dont why but for a game that was admittadley quite immersive, the whole end sequence just completely kicked me out the game and just left me thinking that whole thing was utter crap.

Thats just my experience with it. Phew!
