Hate to be "that guy", but why not just get a Wii-U?
At this point in the Wii's life it seems kind of pointless to get one.

But as for suggestions, No More Heroes is a pretty fun action hack+slashy game, and the second one seems pretty good too.
If you're looking for a decent turn based strategy there's Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Very fun, very challenging.

Oooh, and if you can find it, Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is probably the best version of it. Wii-mote works well for aiming and it has all the unlockables, and... well, it's Resident Evil fucking 4. What more do you want?

Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kirby's Return To Dreamland
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy

What all the people saying Xenoblade seems to not know is that even used I doubt you will be able to pick up a copy for less that $100 USD. All my recommendations have been taken so i'll just say look into the many great gamecube games out there, I use my Wii more for that than actual Wii games.

Really? I got my copy at about standard price. I think it was $40 or $50, don't remember. But it wasn't $100. Or are you referring to getting the game online? Because I got my copy via GameStop.

I was referring to the online price. GameStop has it listed at a more standard price, but according to their website there is literally no copies within 100 miles of me so I doubt most people will be able to find a copy without heading to Amazon or Ebay.

I have a list here:
Sonic Colors
Rayman Origins
Mario Galaxy 2
Kirby Anniversary
DK Country Returns
Klonoa
A Boy and His Blob (Wii version)
Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Also, do you have a TV that has an HDMI port? Because there is an HDMI converter for the Wii. I have it and it works perfectly, upscales the games into HD 720p or 1080p. I used it to record Luigi's Mansion and Brawl videos.

DON'T get monster hunter tri. With MH3U for the WiiU and 3DS servers coming up within a month, capcom decided that the Tri servers will close on april 30th. You just won't be able to get your worth out of the game anymore.

The offline game is interesting enough, and a good way to get familiar with the series and the weapons, but you will likely spend 30 hours on it max, depending on your skill. You could buy it for 5 bucks later perhaps.

based on the title the only thing i have to say is, WHY? Then i read the post and still saying why i say to you that a ds would have been a much better investment.

You should grab a copy of The Last Story if you can, it really is an amazing game. Also Pandora's Tower, however I think someone has already mentioned this, it's not out in the US yet but it will be soon, so get it when you can, it's another amazing game. If you like Silent Hill then I highly recommend Silent Hill Shattered Memories.

and even at that price it would likely have more value than nearly any other wii game

i always wondered, i plated tri in offline only and while i loved the game i found it fairly brutal in it's difficulty and a bit on the grindy side. i would often have to invest hours farming stuff just so i could fight 1 dino which if i was lucky i could beat with a few seconds left on the clock. to this day i still have a couple of quests left that i can't beat with the best combination of weapons and armor i could get.
did the multiplayer make it easier?

Deadly Creatures:
Great game, unique ways of telling the story, and decently fun game play.

My personal favorite:

House of the Dead Overkill:

The wii is basically made for lightgun shooters and this game has a great, dark humor that parodies B-horror movies.

Also great:

Trauma Team
No More Heroes 1+2
Monster Hunter Tri
Kirby Epic Yarn & Return to Dreamland
Mario Galaxy 1&2
Last Story
Xenoblade Chronicles
Muramasa Demonblade

Those are just the games i remember of my head, there are also some great Wiiware games and ports from other systems/lightgun shooters.

Get Okami and have the best time of your life. Seriously, that one game validated my Wii's existence. The drawing is a little wonky, but you get used to it. Just make the strokes fast as you can, because slow strokes don't recognize as well as you'd hope.

I can't justify getting that one because of the combat waggle controls.
If you though twilight princess was waggle controls... oh boy.
The ps2 version is still the best you can get.

well theres metroid prime 3...and

uhhh....hmmmm

.........

you could get a gamecube controller and the other metroid games on gamecube!
Don't be that way.
Metroid prime collection
You (and everyone else saying Metroid Prime Trilogy) do realize that it is $60+ used, if you can even find a copy, right?
That's a risk you run of being slow.
Same could probably be said for getting all 3 anyway.
Could just rent that one unlike Xenoblade.
