It could be worse. A man brutally stabbed another man to death a while ago during an argument about how they shouldn't be arguing.
Scratch I just read the child part.
Scratch I just read the child part.
I'm not accusing you of anything here, but why are the lives of children so much more important than the lives of adults? I mean, yes, children are viewed as "innocents" and they have their whole lives ahead of them but it's not like adult victims are somehow "guilty" and don't have people, often children, depending on them.dontworryaboutit said:Scratch I just read the child part.
I personally have no more attachment to children, I was just trying to avoid being crucified.ThrobbingEgo said:I'm not accusing you of anything here, but why are the lives of children so much more important than the lives of adults? "Think of the children!" bugs me.
Damned if you do; damned if you don't.dontworryaboutit said:I personally have no more attachment to children, I was just trying to avoid being crucified.
This right here is so true it hurts. And to the other comment about how guns shouldn't be allowed in homes, what am I supposed to defend myself with when a robber/murder comes into my home with HIS gun?Therumancer said:As far as where the gun was, well all comments by liberals about firearms "safety" aside, during a home invasion the bad guys aren't going to wait to let you unlock your gun, unlock your ammo on the other side of the house, and then load your gun.

But most robbers/murders don't think like that. They see a nice house, kick in the door with a 9MM in their hand, and shoot at whatever moves.ZahrDalsk said:Why did they have a gun in their house? You don't need a gun in your house.
By the way: if I was going to rob your house, I wouldn't burst in and fight you. I'd examine the place a bit over a few days, check for visible security systems, and sneak in. If I wanted you dead I'd kill you in your sleep, but I'd be more likely just to slip in, take the goods, and slip out again.
Well if I wanted to make a living off of thieving (and it's remarkably easy to do so; a surprising number of people on /r9k/ boost their incomes with it) I wouldn't want to get caught. Maybe the shooting and violence doesn't appeal to me so much because I don't take part in the American culture. A guy who just busts in and starts shooting probably has a motive other than material gain. Revenge, bloodlust, whatever. He wants to kill someone and make a short term gain. I'd be doing it for a living.Miroku2235 said:But most robbers/murders don't think like that. They see a nice house, kick in the door with a 9MM in their hand, and shoot at whatever moves.
I think its just because once you turn 18 you're assumed to be able to cope with the consequences of your actions, though several people I know are perfect testaments against that.ThrobbingEgo said:Wasn't my intention to criticize you in particular, I just don't like the trend of marginalizing people's lives once they turn eighteen.
Of course, we all know there's no guns in Britain this long after their crackdown on ownership, other ways in which the life of another human, child or otherwise, could be ended.StarStruckStrumpets said:This wouldn't have happened in Britain...i'm sure you can see why. Guns. Are. BAD.
An accident due to one person's stupidity or neglegence is not a reason to disarm every law-abiding citzen within a country. Removing guns will only give those who illegaly keep them more power, and the confidence that no one can stop them (besides the police, who they most likely avoid anyways). "In the land of the disarmed, the one-gun man is king." -The Washington Times-bladerunner- said:This is why America should ban guns because stupid things like this happen.
