QFT. Why is it always the video games that get blamed for the irresponsiblity of the parents? Just like that situation where the boy died after running away from him. His mother damn well helped him pack, and yet the media has the nerve to pin the blame on everyone from the ESRB to GameBattles.

The father is an idiot.

Being pro-gun is fine but to teach weapons effectively to children requires you to teach "cause & effect." I don't think the father taught his kids that.

Y'know, on a less serious note. Boy failed to understand that IRL, respawns is off by default.

... Excuse my morbid sense of humor.

Ah well, at least we have the straw dog of videogames to pin this one on - for a minute there I thought we may have had to face a big cold dose of real and consider the fact that people are more likely to get shot when you own and keep a gun. Still, its a small price to pay - what better way to protect your family from violent intruders than having them blow each others brains out before said intruder gets a chance to? Gawd bless America...

Thank you Darrious Finley for removing yourself from the Gene Pool.
I love how people say that. I mean, a child just got killed, no one seems to be mourning the loss of a FUCKING 9 YEAR OLD CHILD!! Everyone asking who's to blame, and some people are even praising the fact that the kid is dead.

Am I the only one that thinks that's just a bit sick?
No, you're not. Who the hell considers the kid to have deserved what he got? He was fighting with is brother, something I do all the time... does that mean I deserve to have my face blown off? No.

Why pin the rap on the game? As it says, the father doesn't even know which game they were fighting over! "Video game violence" indeed...

I can only see this happening in a Southern state.

Hmm... How about instead of laying blame we all say 'Okay, tragic yes. Let's move on.'
We've seen where the blame game leads... Either no more guns or no more videogames and to be honest. I like videogames and I like having a gun (to shoot AT in an attempt to SCARE bears away).
Aha, your new. At The Escapist, we ALWAYS lay blame

I blame Mississippi and their requirement for inbreeding.
They're such a backwater redneck state even we South Carolinian's look down on them, and we're still proud of founding the Confederacy.

where the hell are you people getting this "he can use the gun and load it" tidbit from?

two kids arguing over a game because one beat the other. kid gets fathers shot gun. the two tussle about with said shot gun. it goes off... kid dies.

no where did it say the kid loaded it, pointed it at his brother, and pulled the trigger.

whos fault is it?
the fathers.

Who Keeps a loaded weapon, with the Safty off, with in the reach of children?

you don't blame guns
you don't blame games

you blame the idiots.

Not only that, but he should also be blamed for teaching his 9 year old how to load and fire a shotgun, that is left where the boy can get it.
Agreed. Why even have one in the first place?
For when the Commies come!

What happened to Locked Safes?

Seems to be two people at fault:

Father
9-Year Old

Father is stupid for teaching an 9-Year Old that stuff. Shooting a gun, fine. Keeping the gun around UNLOADED. Good idea, but not when you teach your kids how to LOAD IT.

9-Year Old is at fault for overreacting to a GAME.

Thats what some people don't get. Games are GAMES. Virtual stuff. On a SCREEN. That can easily be turned OFF.

And yes, we lost a child. Very sad. Sorry to the family.
