I'm not quite sure why the mother isn't being charged with statutory rape, or is 11 & 15 actually legal in the UK?

Other than that, its a "so what" story.
16 is age of consent. but women can't statutorily rape guys here, because fuck gender equality.
Well, I kinda think the boy loses any right he may or may not have had to cry rape
he doesnt need to. if he'd been older, then he would get arrested for statutory rape without her pressing charges. statutory basically means that government legislation decides whether to press charges and the public can't do shit. for example, minimum wage is statutorial.

Why does this have to come up in every single thread where both a boy/man and a girl/woman are involved?
Every time a woman does something wrong: 'Oh, if she were a guy people would be outraged.'
Every time a man does something wrong: 'Oh, if he were a girl he would have gotten away with it.'

Regardless or not of whether people are outraged at the original story. I mean, this girl could have been burned at the stake and the responses would still be 'She would have got worse if she were a guy.' This story is not a gender issue. There have been a million cases of guys getting young girls pregnant and not going to prison or getting charged but it's nearly so common now that it's not news.

Christ.

i wasnt saying that no matter her punishment, a guy would've got worse, or that she's only getting away with it because she's a girl.
i was telling someone that if a woman commits statutory rape, she will not get charged in the UK. ever. it isnt like "oh, men get away with it too a lot of the time." this is always. it isnt breaking any laws.
i wasnt turning it into a gender issue, i was answering someone's question about the UK's consent laws.

Well it is clear that boy must've been a bit ahead in puberty if the 15 year old girl thought he was the same age.

Where I'm from anyway, they rarely ever convict anyone if both parties are under the age of consent.

It does take away from this argument that minors are not sexual beings which is put out lots of places as the reason for the consent laws being where they are. I am in no way advocating for changes or the idea that older people with minors is anything but wrong. It just takes a bit of the air out if that argument when minors are obviously not as sexless as people like to think. Just saying...

Them both being minors means that Romeo and Juliette exceptions come into force. The same thing that stops a 16 year old (above UK age of consent) being in trouble for being intimate with his week younger 15 year old (normally illegal) girlfriend. But 15 to 11 is a big gap...
Sex is a means of reproduction. The sole means of reproduction for most/all mammals. Reproduction is the only reason that humans are capable of having sex in the first place.

If you aren't physically/emotionally/financially capable of having a child, and then raising that child in relative comfort, then you shouldn't be having sex.

See how that works?
Not sure how your point relates to mine. The argument about whether they should be having sex or not, is different to whether people under the age of consent have sexual desire or not (the point I was making).

Its not, however its the boy who will be charged, as the girls was also underage...! Weird laws I know! 16 is the legal age for us brits btw!

How about: Who cares, as this is old news?

Tuesday 19 August 1997
Am I the only one to notice this? That 11-year old kid is 24 now!
I did too! The kid, if it was born, is now older then the 'father' mentioned in this story.

A different story nearly identical to this came out a couple of years ago too, the 'Dad' was 12. When the baby was born it turned out after tests that it wasn't his. The 15 year old mother was a hussy and had been around the block a few times... Great times we live in, eh?

This IS messed up.

It does come to mind though that if some 15 year old boy had sex with an 11 year old girl and got her pregnant the reaction would probably be a lot differant with people screaming "teenage rapist" even if he claimed "well she looked more mature and I thought she was older".

There is nothing paticularly good about this, but despite her willing to take responsibility, I'm kind of surprised there isn't more finger pointing in her direction, and if anything they tend to be sort of implying the 11 year old boy is responsible for seducing her and well... you know.

The point about him attending the middle school also get's my attention, I'm wondering if she's just a teenage pedo with what the Japanese would call a Shouja complex (I believe) or whatever, who is getting away because she's a girl, got pregnant, and is doing a good job of proclaiming ignorance.

I dunno... sounds like it shouldn't be. Otherwise 17 & 21 should be legal. Lot less "worse" than this.

I'm sure this isn't the record... (stranger than fiction rule, if you can imagine it, it most likely is)
I believe the record was held way back in the 1920's by a Chinese couple.

The male was 8, and I think the female was 11. I think... Don't quote me on that though.

As other have said: TUESDAY 19 AUGUST 1997

This was 14 years ago, who gives a fuck? It happened then, just like it does now, nothing we can do about it.

Wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait, WAIT. If the boy were 15 and the girl were eleven, everyone would be freaking out a lot more. What a double standard.
This is all I really have to say about this. Had the roles been switched, there would be far more pitchforks and torches.

Just another incident of dumb kids doing dumb things.

Nothing new there.

Also, inb4 lost faith in humanity.
Ah, but I lost hope in humanity. Weren't expecting that, were ya?

Seriously, though - this is sad. Let's hope someone responsible takes care of the child once it's born.

And let's also hope that this kid gets a few slaps on his face for being a little ****.
Aren't hope and faith essentially the same thing?
I had some witty definition that included a zombie jesus joke, but was distracted by left over pie. So here's the dictionary definitions.

Faith: firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust

Hope: to cherish a desire with anticipation
