Yeah the only reason I try to get level 25 in BF:BC is so I can get my hands on those special guns.

While there are plenty of idiots out there who brag about their 50 rank in Halo 3, that's not really what it's meant for. It's more to match you up against others at your skill level in online play. That's why I don't understand why people cheat/exploit/xp boost to get their rank up. It just means they are going to be playing against people above their skill level and are going to lose every time. (Obviously I am specifically referring to Halo 3 here)
Personally, i didn't prestige to 10/55 for bragging rights, i did it for the challenge. It's only muppets who get intimidated by a badge next to your name. If it gives you jollies to say you're better because you have played longer then bully for you, you do indeed have a wonderful and fulfilling life. (anyone pick up the sarcasm?)
I prefer to let my skills do the talking, and if I lose, then fair play and well done.

They could give you acces to the beta of their next installment of the same franchise, or maybe even from another game coming from the same developers. That's a sweet deal, right? And you know that whoever obtains these beta's knows a little something about your game already and is probably a good beta tester.
Well that is because those people don't understand the true purpose for the ranking system. Same with the people who will go online and team kill or do nothing in the hope that they will lose and de-level.Symp4thy said:

Really? Bragging Rights? More substantial reward for playing a video game? Its a game, why should you be rewarded for having fun? Isn't the game fun enough with out material crap? Maybe I come from an older breed of gamers who don't need all of these things to show someone I am better at a game than them, personally I have many more talents other than just playing video games... which really isn't a talent as much as it is like training, if any one practices enough they can be good at a game. I'd rather go paint a picture or write a song and show that off.

What idiot goes through fifty (sixty) five grueling levels to say "DUDE I'm better than YOU!"
Just get 50 kills EVERY GAME and then you can brag.
Get your kill:death to 3:0 and then you can brag.
But just cause you PLAYED THE GAME LONGER does not mean you are BETTER.
You do it for REPLAY VALUE. People who BRAG usually GET OWNED sometime in their life, thus invalidating their FOOLISH CLAIMS.
AND THAT ICON IS REALLY FREAKIN' COOL, ALRIGHT?
P.S. On a serious note, the extra custom slots in COD5 are worth it. Why? Versatility, but usually only experienced players can use this to it's full extent.
